    T. L. Swan is an author i have never vibed with😬 i know everyone loves her books, but i tried Mr. Masters... and i hated every second of it lol. but like you said, her heroes have a lot of misogynistic tendencies and that’s always a no from me. it’s immediately a turn off :////

    I know there’s a lot of super popular reverse harems but I read the Saint View High series and really enjoyed it!!! Also, a series that gives off those vibes but technically isn’t RH…boys of Brayshaw. SO GOOD.

    A reverse harem book that I really liked is “the secret girl”, you should read the sinopsis, but I’m just gonna say that is about a girl who goes to a high school that is only for boys, so she has to dress like a guy and there’s a mystery surrounding the school, is so catching and funny, check it out!!

    Okay I didn’t like Sicko Either and found The elite Kings club a hit and a miss ( first 3 books were meh but the last 4 books were fantastic, especially SANCTE DIABOLI PT1&2)
    HOWEVERRR the midnight mayhem series! The books in that series were phenomenal! Dark romance with a touch of fantasy! I read it 6 months ago and I subconsciously always compare the midnight mayhem series to every dark romance book! Its amazing and I can’t wait for Amo to release the third book (MMF)
    Gives me American horror story vibes but sexy and way more spicy! Highly highly recommend this series!

    OMG I felt the same way about The Vincent Brothers/Boys. I love all of Abbi's other books but these ones are just so strange. I found the first book put a ridiculous amount of emphasis on who was the good boy vs the bad boy to the point where that was their entire personality. And the girl's reasons for thinking she wasn't good enough for the "good boy" were completely ridiculous. Like because she didn't want to return her cart to the cart return in the mall parking lot she wasn't worthy of him??? Idk the whole thing just seemed weird to me.

Because I’ve read two of her books and they just weren’t for me but I’m not sure if it was the plot or the writing and I know you really like her so I trust your judgment.
    But one book I read recently and didn’t like was ‘Even when you lie to me’ by Jessica Alcott. It had the same problem you had where the ending made the whole story pointless and just a waste of time.

    I didn't like Birthday Girl. At first, I loved it but then after a while, I started rethinking and I didn't like the way the age gap relationship was portrayed. I feel like it could've been portrayed in a more positive light. Throughout the book, Jordan kept trying to prove to Pike that she was mature, however in doing so she was just acting more childish because quite frankly she still is a child. For example (warning spoilers) when Caleb found out about her and Pike she just wouldn't use her head and wasn't understanding that her relationship with Pike was going to affect other people too. She was just thinking of herself.

    As a lesbian, a plot where a gay man is essentially "turned straight" REALLY rubs me the wrong way. A very harmful narrative. Sexualities can't be changed like that. If anything he would be bisexual/pansexual. See this is what happens when straight authors write gay characters. The problematic and clearly uneducated writing shines through. Its why Tryst Six Venom is a no for me. Over sexualisation of lesbians written clearly through the male gaze and inaccurate portrayal of lesbian sex? No thank you.
    I know I'm ranting but its just insulting the way many straight authors write gay characters, lesbians and other LGBTQ+ individuals.

    I didn’t like Vicious by LJ Shen. I’ve read a lot of enemies to lovers and this one was just like ‘meh’ I since haven’t read any of her books after seeing all the proof of her being a bully 😡

    • @sabi1689
      @sabi1689 3 года назад +1

      Oh she is something else… I have no problem with bad boys, dark romance or even bullys as long as I can understand where they are coming from and you give them a backstory that makes sense as to why they are like that. But she just goes nuts. I read a few from her and some are ok like Broken Knight and other like the thief kiss made me cringe. I stopped reading her books and I’m not willing to read through the bad ones to find the good ones🤷🏻‍♀️

      Same! I don’t like any of the books in that series I’ve tried but I just can’t get through any of them. However I did randomly read a book of LJ Shen’s ‘Broken Knight’ and I actually liked that one. It’s supposed to be the children of the Vicious series but I didn’t bother with Vicious or the others and the parents aren’t really important in that book anyways, but the plot and characters in that book are much better IMO.

      @@Ro-sv2ly agreed! Broken knight has a good backstory for the main character and you can understand where his struggles are coming from, and he is also not that bad, so I’m ok with that book
