when i first read the addicted series i almost dnfed the series bc i also wasn’t really enjoying the 2 first characters. but i kept reading the next few books and then i got so obsessed bc of rose and connor. i completely understand that the writing style is a bit boring since it’s so slow and there’s so many pages in every book but yeah i recommend reading the rest of the series !!
i agree with most of this, but i do like lo and lily! i liked the books but i wasnt like obsessed whereas right now im on kiss the sky which is obviously connor and rose and i’m literally hooked like im so addicted x
That's really funny, because I adore KB's writing style and I find it fast paced :D And English is not my first language, so I somtimes have problems with it :D I love how everyone can have a different opinion and experience about the same book. Overall, Addicted series is one of my top 5 favorite series of all the time, but I am quiet hesitant about reading Like Us series. I have heard mixed things about it.
Just finishing The Addicted Series..first time i was reading it i stopped after the second book but i started reading them again and i am absolutely in love..rn I'm reading the spinn off series, the Like Us series and it's just amazing 🥺 promise you won't regret it
The devils night series is so good!! I absolutely loved it! The third book is the best! I read them paperback and I loved it! The plot is amazing but you kind of have to read them all for it to make sense because there is flashbacks and those are important! It takes a little bit to get into because the flashbacks can get confusing cause you are trying to figure it all out! Keep going it gets so good! The books keep getting better as the series goes on!
I agree, I listened to the first book on audible and it was so slow and heavy that I decided to drop it. I don't know what compelled me to pick it up again, but Lily and Lo have since then become one of my favorite book couples. I still don't think the individual books are particularly good, but their story as a whole is absolutely charming.
The addicted series gets better! When you get into it, it gets good! The first book I liked but I liked the series the more it went on and the more characters come into it! It’s takes a bit until you get into it! The first book I really enjoyed but the other books and the story get better Conner and Rose are my favourite!!
@@erica5881 they are the best the other I do get her point the addicted series characters do have a lot of flaws compared to the others but I still loved them all but omg Connor is so hot!!
I started Corrupt like 5 different times before I finally kept going because I got the paperback for Christmas. The third book is my absolute favorite. I love sad boys. The Devil’s Night series reminds me of a dark Outer Banks. If you love Rafe, I think you might love the boys in Corrupt. (Probably just me thou lol)
You’re definitely missing out on ACOTAR. I was the same about it, my friend would tell me to read it for YEARS and I couldn’t get past the first few chapters then I got bored and gave it a chance.... you need to get past the first half of the book that’s when things get SO good. And the second book is the BEST. Promise it’s so good just give it a chance
A court of thorns and roses is extremely slow but that’s just Sarah J. Maas. The first book becomes fast in the end but I promise it’s worth it. It’s slow but it helps build a relationship between the reader and characters. It’s sooo worth it- I promise!
It was just announced that the Court of Thorns and Roses is going to be adapted as a Hulu original series and SJM, the author, is working on the script. It is a New Adult fantasy romance. Try to give it a chance again and if you would think the first book is not good, I would want you to still continue because the second book is a BLAST! OMG. Who else loves Rhysand?!?! 😭😭😭
I feel like you would like dean and rosie story which is the second book in the sinners of saint series! I feel like the tropes are something that you would like more! Plus it really pulls on your emotions!
Yesss. It's Ruckus, they're my favorite couple from the series. If you give it a chance definitely read Broken Knight which is part of the spin off with their children. Ughhh that book broke me 💔
I'm reading it ! I didn't really like Vicious but Ruckus was awesome. Dean and Rosie owns my heart. I mean Sirius and Earth ❤️. I think I am not ready for Broken Knight
@@Torrezwithaz god I cried so hard lol I had to stop reading for a bit to recollect myself in broken knight! I could barley see the papers through my tears
i was completely agreeing with everything you said about those series UNTIL i saw ACOTAR. i cant get why someone wouldnt love this series cause its my all time fav but everyones different. its true that the first book isnt as interesting but honestly once you get into it it goes pretty fast. but the second and third book are a absolute must. they are so much better (in my opinion ofc) and the characters omg lets not even start with how much im obsessed with the characters. honestly you should really try and get thru the first book cause the second and the third one are so worth it.
You're probably getting stuck on Corrupt bc it isn't just like a book where you start and it's immediately good LOL it took me a little while to get into it but once you get to the flashback of that first Devil's Night with Rika, it hooks you. The Devils Night series is one of my favorites EVER and you would definitely love it if you decide to give it another try!
A court of thorns and roses is one of my favorite fantasy book ! I wasn't into it at the beginning but then at the middle of the book I enjoyed it and oh my God at the end there is so much action !!! But the reason why it's one of my favourite it's because of the second tome. It. So. Good. The romance and the characters it was so fun.
I loved corrupt. I thought it was really good but it definitely wasn’t my favorite book in the series. Once you’re more into the book it definitely gets better though. Once I got to the second book I fell in love with it and the other books are amazing as well.
Currently reading ACOTAR. It's been recommended for years. Totally not my style. I don't really read fantasies. Mostly just steamy romances. Well I started reading the first book and it was okay. I got into it more so maybe halfway through, then even more during the last third of the book. Well the second one was amazing! I'm Currently on the third, and so far I love it too. The first one took a turn I wasn't expecting and I'm so grateful for it! So this is coming from someone who does not really like fantasies, and I actually thought it was going to be hard to read when I first started reading it. Now I'm a convert! And this can get steamy! Again, the second book is where it really starts. The first book is needed, but the second book is amazing!
Same! I mainly read romance and decided to pick up acotar. I am on the fourth book and now I’m obsessed with fantasy romance. If you like acotar then I totally recommend From Blood and Ash. I think I may even like fbaa more!
The Addicted series is seriously my favorite purely NA book (no fantasy aspects etc) ever! The first book... I really liked it and it was interesting and as I continued the series, I completely fell in love with the characters and the story. It's unlike anything I have ever read, each character is unique and the chemistry and friendships ... oh my god, I loved that so much. As for ACOTAR... it definitely is one of the most popular fantasy book series. The first book is really good but the second is absolutely amazing. It used to be my favorite series but Throne of Glass by the same author is so much more, again the first book is pretty much average, nothing that special about it but each book is better than the last (and it has 8 books), the plot twists and the world-building are beyond this world, this series broke my heart so many times that I am surprised my eyes are still capable of crying after finishing the last book... Definitely my #1 favorite series, my #2 fav series is a pretty recent one, the third book came out a few days ago, it's called From Blood And Ash, the 3rd book definitely convinced me that the second place belongs to it, the character development, world-building, and plot twists did it for me. If you ever feel like reading fantasy I definitely recommend the two I mentioned plus ACOTAR, I think that you might like it, if not the first book, then the second.
I love the addicted series. I’m on book 3 now and I am no pun intended....addicted to it. And I love that there are so many books about the same couple. Haven’t gotten that since After. I’m not really a fan of companion books which is what most end up being. I love a lot about the same couple ❤️❤️
Definitely the first 3 books of the addicted series aren’t very good or very addicted but after the third book IS SOOOOO GOODDDD I GET OBSESSED! Please give it a chance again 🤩
U definitely need to read the third book of the Devils night series KILL SWITCH, is one of the most amazing books I ever read. No need to read the first 2 ones I haven't cuz just like u couldn't for some reason but this one I'm glad I did
tbh when i was first starting vicious i didn't get the hype and didn't finish it-- but a while later i gave it a try and i loved it sm, there's always this point in the sinners of saints and all saints high series where they finally realized that behind all there hate for each was there love and vicious and millie's characters are SOO GOOD for that--they made it feel so good to read it. in my opinion, if u stick around and finish it, you'll def like it and the second book in the sinners of saints series is SO MUCH BETTERS ITS AMAZING
I read the addicted books and I totally see where youre coming from about the main characters. I only read their books to get to the other characters' books tbh
I just pre-ordered Elle Kennedy's 5th book to the off-campus series "The Legacy"- I know the description says that it's about "where are they now". I was just wondering if you knew anymore details about the book.
Corrupt was so good. My fav out of the series for sure but there’s a “unnecessary” plot in the 75% part of the book but once you get past that, it was satisfying.
I also tried to read Vicious, but I just couldn't get past a certain chapter or part of the book, I did read a little over the time jump, but the vibe just didn't catch me! I do try do remember myself to not force a book on me, when I don't like it, reading is my favourite hobby and I souldn't be "forced" to read or finish a book. Have a great day! :)
Penelope Douglas is one of my favourite authors!!! The Devil's night series is an absolute fav for me, when I started reading it everybody said the 3rd book is the best and I absolutely agree!! I don't have a problem with the first book, like some people do. I just finished Vicious a couple of days ago and at first I didn't really like it, but as I got more into it I've become more interested in Vicious' character. So I recommend you pushing it!!
I had the same problem with Devil's Night, Addicted and Sinners of Saint (they're just really dark). I did push through tho, and after one book in any series you kinda get lost in the wave, it was so satisfying to finally be able read these series.
I'm exactly the same for Vicious, Corrupt and ACOTAR. You're definitely not alone!! 1. Vicious - same reason, timeline jump and they kept getting cockblocked as adults killing the tension 2. Corrupt - Penelope Douglas is my absolute favorite but something about the Devil's Night setup and the mystery I just couldn't get into 3. ACOTAR - the popular YA fantasies all kind of blend together for me, especially fae books. not sure if it's the writing, world-building or the characters. when dystopia was a huge trend, that was easier to differentiate between series.
The corrupt series is overhyped. Seriously. I read the first three books and I just can’t bring myself to read the last one. It’s like PD is obsessed with threesomes and I just don’t get it - how can an alpha be okay with sharing his woman with his friend?! In EVERY book?! Why is that necessary?? To me she’s just overhyped in general.
TOTALLY AGREED!!! I hated the threesome scenes. It was just so unnecessary. Just because those types of scenes are hot doesn't mean it needs to be included in every fucking story. I just think that nowadays Menage/Reverse Harem books are really popular so every romance author is jumping on the trend.
@@taniamiranda13 they were so unnecessary. What did they add to the story? Nothing. I feel like Birthday Girl was a fluke and I wish she would go back to writing something like that!
The first book of the Addicted series/world was definitely not my favorite but it does get better! Especially the Calloway Sisters books. I think I actually prefer those over the Addicted ones.
My suggestion for the Sinners of Saint Series and the All Saints High Series, is to first read the novella, Defy, it's short and sweet and it gives you a good introduction into that world. Defy is Jamie and Mel's story. Next, this gets a little odd, read Pretty Reckless from All Saints High, this book is about Jamie and Mel's daughter. After that read Ruckus and Scandalous (does not have to be in that order). Ruckus is Dean and Rosie's book and Scandalous is Trent and Edie's book (possibly my favorite out of the whole series. After that read Broken Knight. Broken Knight is about Dean and Rosie's son Knight and Trent and Evie's daughter Luna. Then after that if you can manage it, read Vicious. Vicious is his (Vicious) and Emilia's book. Then Angry God is about their son Vaughn. So to reiterate: Defy Pretty Reckless Ruckus Scandalous Broken Knight Vicious Angry God I hope this helps!
the only couple in the Addicted universe i like are Ryker and Daisy. they’re super fun, intense and beautiful. so i recommend their two books! again with the Vicious series, the last book in the series is my fave bcos it doesn’t really revolve around the characters/stories of the previous books. so i recommend that one, it’s called Bane! and i don’t blame you for Corrupt😭 the heroine Erika is probably my least fave heroine I have EVER read. i adored the 2nd and 3rd books, read them and see if it’s Erika holding you back bcos she ruins the series for me lol she’s kind of unbearable. and the book i don’t understand the hype around is for sure Twisted Pride by Cora Reilly, gives me the ick but so many people love it🤷🏻♀️
Corrupt was one of the first dark romances I ever read and it was wayyyyy too intense for me so I never read the rest of the series. Everything went too far and the ending was super rushed. It put me off dark romance for a long time because I thought I just wasn't cut out for it but then I read The Fallen Men series and realized that Devil's Night just wasn't for me
A lot of people don't like Lo and Lily as much as Rose/Connor and Daisy/Ryke (which is beyond me as they are my absolute favourites of any book ever). However, as for Lo and Lily, I definitely enjoy the books way more when they have both of their POVs, so the first book is not my favourite. My favourites with those two are definitely Addicted for Now and Thrive. And the spin off series (both Calloway Sisters and Like Us) are both so amazing as well, I do get why Connor/Rose makes most people really into the books, and I definitely think you would love Rose as a female lead after hearing how you love a "take no bullshit" female lead. As for the Devil's Night series, I feel that you would love the 3rd book a lot more than the first.
This is how I felt reading Gabriel’s Inferno trilogy and the Black Dagger brotherhood series. I had such high hopes for both since they came so highly recommended but I couldn’t get through the first book of either one. Not sure if it was the writing style or what. 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah ACOTAR is a slow starter but the second book is phenomenal and completely worth getting through the first book for. the storytelling is just beauuutiful
The first three books in the Addicted series set up the series. After book three the series really kicks off! I would say stick with it to anyone who wants to read it! The last book had me laughing, crying and smiling! However Vicious is just horrible. L J Shen only knows how to write about two characters and they are just horrible, disgusting people
I always hear about the Addicted series personally I don't think I will love it, Also didn't enjoy the Off Campus series. I only read the first book and it didn't live up to the hype! Does it get better? Should I continue with the other books?
i had the SAME experience with corrupt and most of PD's books. i just found that I had to push through the first few chapters and then I was hooked. its one of my favs still
Mine are Four psychos and Kings of quarantine - it was a struggle!. I also only read Vicious and Corrupt in their series but it doesn't feel as bad to abandon companion novels than series with one plot 🙈
I started reading the Addicted/Calloway series about a month ago and I am now almost finished. When I read the first book I totally agree with you the characters made me mad and I didn’t want to continue but I seen so many people say that it gets better so I continued and I’m so glad I did. In the second book I saw the characters through a different perspective with their struggles. And as the series goes go the first couple have the BIGGEST character development I have ever seen. I know you said you won’t ever continue reading the series but I am telling you please do it gets so much better and I love the other characters books too.
For the sinners of saints series, you don’t really need to read them in order you can read them as stand alones because I only read one of the books in the series and I wasn’t confused or anything with the characters so if any of the other books interest you i just wanted to say you could definitely read them as stand alones :)
GIRL. Every book you said I cant get into. we have the same taste in books and I'm glad I'm not the only one cant get into these books Also acotar books captures you after the second book. Read it. We have the same taste in books and I can see you liking the series.
I read Corrupt and I did like it...but I didn't continue with the series. It didn't grasp my attention enough. As far as ACOTAR, I was late to the game and read it last year. One of the best series I've ever read. It's definitely an all consuming/emotional read. The second book especially! I would give it a second try.
Totally understand different taste in storytelling/writing and KBR certainly have a particular style of writing. I did personally enjoy the Calloway Sisters and Like Us a lot more than Addicted. I also didn’t have much sympathy or enjoyment from their journey. I would recommend trying Calloway Sisters, Kiss the Sky if you like intelligent, Type A personalities and banter or Hothouse Flower if you like loving free spirited couples with an age gap. To me, it’s the intensely loving familial bonds that make me love the books and lo and Lily were not really apart of that because of their addictions so.... I get it!
the addicted series is one of my favorites but i will say i did have a hard time getting into the first book but it does get so much better on the third one
The first book I read of Lj Shen was "The Hunter" and I loved it so much, the banter between the leads is so good. Then I also read "Pretty Reckless" which I really enjoyed as well, another great couple. I know you usually like reading books in order, but I would highly suggest reading either of these two. I think these are a lot easier to get into, at least for me. Please give these two a chance! 🙏
I read the first book in the Addicted series as well and I have no interest in continuing it either. I read the first book in the Thoughtless series but the main female character annoyed and frustrated me. I will not be continuing the series. I read Corrupt by Penelope Douglas and enjoyed it. I am not sure why I have not continued the series. I also have not been able to get into The Court of Thorns series or The Throne of Glass series.
i totally agree with vicious and thoughtless. not that i've tried to read either of them, but i've tried some other lj shen books and i've always ended up dnf'ing them. they're just not for me. and i've heard thoughtless has cheating involved so definitely not my thing.
GIRLL BUT PUNK 57 IT’S A SPIN OFF OF DEVILS NIGHT !!! However don't worry, the same thing happened to me with both Corrupt and Vicious, I couldn't go beyond the first few chapters and I tried so many times until I finally ended up devouring all the books. My advice is not to give up. Maybe now is not the time, with books this happens to me, there are moments and moments to read a certain book. So I tell you: wait for the right time to come, but trust me you absolutely must read both series (and SoS spin off series because they are amazing) because I'm sure you will go crazy, I think they are just your thing.
You are just saying all the thoughts that come to my mind when I see the book cover and in corrupt I really wanted to complete it but I just can't everytime I just read two or three chapters then after weeks I pick it up again I just forget what happened in those chapters..and then I just again read first chapter...... That's really is dumb of me.
It's the same with me with Sinners of Saints and Acotar... like I don't understand why I just can't bring myself to read them, well for Sinners of Saints, I did try to read Vicious but I stopped because the characters immaturity from the first chapters got on my nerves and I can't bring myself to continue it to set myself up for disappointment... As for acotar, I'm not really into fantasy romance or whatever it is so it's really not appealing to me at all but I might give it a try someday. also, I just subscribed, hehe, you seem really nice!
I listened to some of the Sinners of Saint and All Saints High books as audiobooks and really liked them! For me the most over-hyped romance book/series was Get A Life, Chloe Brown. I've seen it EVERYWHERE and everyone was raving about it so I finally picked it up and found it sooo boring. I know a lot of the hype is because the series has such diverse representation, which is great, but the actual story itself just wasn't it for me. I felt like the characters were acquaintances at best so when they were put into romantic situations it just seemed cringey, idk the chemistry was off for me. Needless to say I won't be continuing that series lol.
I also had a hard time reading vicious, I would constantly fall out of the story but many people raved about it so I continued. You have to listen to the audiobook. Believe me it will make you reading experience much better. The series gets better as it goes on. My fave is the third “scandalous”
For me it’s the off campus series. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it at all. There are so many more romantic couples. Only read the first book and thought it was just meh
Same ! I read the first book a couple years ago and I liked it, but I just can’t see myself wasting time reading all the other books when I’ve read so many more romantic couples.
@@brookelauren4117 yes! I could say I liked it but just in comparison to most else I read I cannot believe how highly recommended it is. Laura has it on almost everyone of her lists and normally I fall in love with her recommendations. I just don’t get why!!
I couldn’t get into the devils night series by Penelope Douglas or Paper princess and the rest of the series by Erin watt I kept trying but I just couldn’t 😩
i feel same about the Addicted series.. couldn't connect at all. Again dnf'd "Corrupt", it gets more bizarre with the following chapters. but please give "The Elements Series" by Brittainy C Cherry a try.. you'll like it for sure 💕
I’m going to be honest. The first like 3 books of the addicted series is quite.... slow? Butt, trust me it gets better and the characters definitely develop. I didn’t want to continue it either, but now all those characters are my ALL TIME FAVOURITE🤍
I agree with almost every one of these! I always hated Vicious and nothing about it was memorable to me so I never understood why people hyped it up! HOWEVER, The Devil's Night series will always be my fave series! Killswitch is just amazing! I feel like it's super hard to get past the timeline and how it switched from back to forth, but everything else I loved from this series! 🥰
I'm currently reading the sinners of saint series and can confirm that Ruckus (book 2) and Scandalous (book 3) are a lot better than Vicious! At least, in my personal opinion! I'm currently on the last book but I loved books 2 and 3. Definitely give those a try instead!
After by Anna Todd when I was in high school I loved it ? And now when I think why did I love that ? Literally it's the same fights that goes on 😩😩 I really loved the last book when it finally ended .. I don't disagree that they don't have a connection they certainly have but the drama God!...Hardin in 2 book was laid so bare but then again so much fights every next chapter
We seem to agree on all books! Except: I tried to read the *Addicted series* and couldn't. They were so *selfish and irritating people!* So someone told me to skip and only read *Hot House Flower and Long Way Down.* *Ryke and Daisy are the ONLY redeemable* characters in that entire series. I've only read *Vicious* and liked it but I just haven't felt inclined to read the others, except maybe *Banes book* because of the topics in it. I also tried to read *Thoughtless and the heroine in it was so annoying.* *She went back and forth too many times and I wanted to choke her at one point. I stopped about 75% in.* *Corrupt* was a good read. But I haven't picked up the series since. *A Court of Thorns and Roses is on my TBR.*
Corrupt is slow at the beginning, happened to me too.. But I kept on reading and it is definitlely goooood. Twisted, fucked up story and theres a secret... Vicious is good, normal but good... Slow too, once you understand why he hates her it gets better. Love from Costa Rica.
im reading vicious rn! i like it but the writing is super amateur which kind of takes me out of it at times but im hoping its a "look at me vastly improving" type of deal like w/ other authors 🕴
I read A Court of Thorns and Roses and only loved the second half of the book, but it is definitely over hyped in my opinion as well. I couldn't even get into A Court of Mist and Fury and think I'm going to stop trying with this series lol. Have you ever read The Edge of Never by J. A. Redmerski? I think you would like it if you have not. I loved it.
Omg noooo you need read that series all of them, sinners of saints, the second book is amazing the history between Rosie and Dean is so beautiful and after the spin-off of their children’s is even better. The saga Devil’s Night is good as well, I know that the beginning is somewhat slow but it became something dark and vindictive, and I loved that the characters embraced their dark and disturbed side that is not something that is seen in many books, personally Nightfall is my favorite. And speaking of A Court of Thorns and Roses I can't tell you anything other than please read the other books in the saga, A Court of Mist and Fury is my favorite book of all time because I don't think a more accurate concept has been written of what soul mates or true love should be.
Read Bane from Sinner's of Saint is the last book, and super easy to read. I also want to understand why ppl love the addicted series, I tried the book and it didn't work, I'm gonna try as an audiobook, let's hope it works 💕
Keep trying it I was the exact same! The whole series consist of 10 books then a few spin-offs, so only reading the first book doesn’t really justify everything that is addicted. Ricochet is the shortest book in the series and honestly probably the lightest it gets really intense from. There you should read that first to determine if u like it enough to continue the series. :)
But i've got an advice for sinners in saints series Don't read vicious yet Start with defy that is part of the series. It is much better and is s student teacher romance. You are gonna love it.
I honestly LOVE the sinners of saint/all saint high serie and I’ve started reading corrupt too and loved it too and I don’t know what I find so entertaining about those but I can’t stop reading them... 😫
I have read like 8 books from L. J. Shen and I cannot read her books anymore. To me it feels like all the relationships are toxic and messed up. Definitely agree with all the books you listed 😂
Sinners of saint - vicious is the best one (in my opinion) so idk what to tell you 😅 I enjoyed it! Also spin off ‘pretty reckless’ being my favourite xx
I love Penelope Douglas & had the exact same experience with that book. I finished it and was like wtf did I just read. This book doesnt even sound like her. It didnt make much sense. But oh well her others are amazing. Now ACOTAR omg!!! Do it. Just do it. Set a goal. (I have 1 hour to make it to chapter 20 or whatever) I swear its really good. NOW her other series (Throne of Glass) is one of my top favs series I have ever read in my life. I have them in display cases. I'm an editor so I read 25-40 books a month. And I still go back to Throne of Glass at least twice a year.
I read the Jessica Hawkins "Something in the way" series recently. I did not like it. I would like to read a book where the female character is the one with the power. Money, job, whatever. Do you know any book of the sort?
I had recently read this wattpad trilogy, its called the bad boys girl. I really think you will enjoy it as much as me! And let me just say Cole is probably my favorite book boyfriend!
OMG! Laura! I just finished Court of Thorns and Roses last night and I really didn't get it either. The story is very predictable and all over the place. Not my fav. Wont continue the series. Great vid!
when i first read the addicted series i almost dnfed the series bc i also wasn’t really enjoying the 2 first characters. but i kept reading the next few books and then i got so obsessed bc of rose and connor. i completely understand that the writing style is a bit boring since it’s so slow and there’s so many pages in every book but yeah i recommend reading the rest of the series !!

Rose and Connor are my favourite! I’m only re reading the series to read their scenes again!
Just finishing The Addicted Series..first time i was reading it i stopped after the second book but i started reading them again and i am absolutely in love..rn I'm reading the spinn off series, the Like Us series and it's just amazing 🥺 promise you won't regret it
Legit the best series ever

@@erica5881 they are the best the other I do get her point the addicted series characters do have a lot of flaws compared to the others but I still loved them all but omg Connor is so hot!!
Connor and Rose are my faves too 🥺
I started with Kiss the Sky. Connor and Rose are probably up there in my top 5-10 couples. I love them so much
I started the series because I wanted to read the story between Connor and Rose but Broooo I could not get past the third book of lily and lo
I am reading ACOMAF and it is way better than ACOTAR. It is awesome
Meeeeeeee!!!!😍
God, I fricking love him and cassian and az ..like I'm mad about them❤️
@@sanjhsolanki2419 Our bat boys! ❤ I seriously can't imagine anyone playing Rhys for the show. My expectations are way too high.
@@mathildeduverneuil8604 You're in for a ride, I'm telling you.
omg best news ever !
Yes ruckus was way better and Promising book!
Agreed! Ruckus was my favorite of the series! I love Dean and Rosie so much
@@Torrezwithaz god I cried so hard lol I had to stop reading for a bit to recollect myself in broken knight!
Vicious is really good it's one of my favorite books
RIGHT!!
One of the few bully romances that I actually loved!
👁👄👁
Girl! Same for me I couldn't get into Vicious like writing style wasn't working for me .
Samee!
Gonna agree with you for courrpt
I am also never able to get through it.
No need to read the first 2 ones I haven't cuz just like u couldn't for some reason but this one I'm glad I did
I agree
I agree Corrupt is hard to get into at first but if you push half way too where Rika and Devil’s Night that’s where it really picks up from there.
I love Sinners of Saint, but I agree bc I hate time jumps but after its so good & TOTALLY AGREE BC I WAS FORCING MYSELF TO GET THROUGH CORRUPT
tbh when i was first starting vicious i didn't get the hype and didn't finish it-- but a while later i gave it a try and i loved it sm, there's always this point in the sinners of saints and all saints high series where they finally realized that behind all there hate for each was there love and vicious and millie's characters are SOO GOOD for that--they made it feel so good to read it. in my opinion, if u stick around and finish it, you'll def like it and the second book in the sinners of saints series is SO MUCH BETTERS ITS AMAZING
I read the addicted books and I totally see where youre coming from about the main characters. I only read their books to get to the other characters' books tbh
Nooooo! Not Thoughtless. I love this series so much. Has a special place in my heart 🥺
1. Vicious - same reason, timeline jump and they kept getting cockblocked as adults killing the tension
2. Corrupt - Penelope Douglas is my absolute favorite but something about the Devil's Night setup and the mystery I just couldn't get into
Omg yeah I agree I think the threesomes were kinda weird and unnecessary🥴
@@shelfishkoala seriously!! It’s like every single romance author is jumping on the sharing trend and I hate it!!
@@taniamiranda13 they were so unnecessary. What did they add to the story? Nothing. I feel like Birthday Girl was a fluke and I wish she would go back to writing something like that!
I’ve never read ACOTOR but when you said you’re not sure why it’s getting hyped back up earlier this year the newest book came out so that’s why!
So to reiterate:
Defy
Pretty Reckless
Ruckus
Scandalous
Broken Knight
Vicious
Angry God
I hope this helps!
the only couple in the Addicted universe i like are Ryker and Daisy. they’re super fun, intense and beautiful. so i recommend their two books! again with the Vicious series, the last book in the series is my fave bcos it doesn’t really revolve around the characters/stories of the previous books. so i recommend that one, it’s called Bane! and i don’t blame you for Corrupt😭 the heroine Erika is probably my least fave heroine I have EVER read. i adored the 2nd and 3rd books, read them and see if it’s Erika holding you back bcos she ruins the series for me lol she’s kind of unbearable. and the book i don’t understand the hype around is for sure Twisted Pride by Cora Reilly, gives me the ick but so many people love it🤷🏻♀️
Corrupt was one of the first dark romances I ever read and it was wayyyyy too intense for me so I never read the rest of the series. Everything went too far and the ending was super rushed. It put me off dark romance for a long time because I thought I just wasn't cut out for it but then I read The Fallen Men series and realized that Devil's Night just wasn't for me
Got me shook by comparing Thoughtless to After lmao! I couldn’t read past After but Thoughtless is my favorite 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The addicted series is one of my favorites. Also Vicious is one of my favorite books too. But thoughtless was trash.
L J Shen only knows how to write about two characters and they are just horrible, disgusting people
I loved corrupt 🥺🥺
I always hear about the Addicted series personally I don't think I will love it, Also didn't enjoy the Off Campus series. I only read the first book and it didn't live up to the hype! Does it get better? Should I continue with the other books?
For me, it’s Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas....that age gap though and getting with your boyfriend’s dad....no no no
Yep. For me it's all of the books by Penelope. It's just 20% story and 80% sex
i had the SAME experience with corrupt and most of PD's books. i just found that I had to push through the first few chapters and then I was hooked. its one of my favs still
Mine are Four psychos and Kings of quarantine - it was a struggle!.
I think u will like all saint series..... It is awesome👍👍👍
GIRL. Every book you said I cant get into. we have the same taste in books and I'm glad I'm not the only one cant get into these books
Also acotar books captures you after the second book.
I get it!
I kind of agree with you about corrupt.. I read the whole thing but the first like few chapters I was very bored and didn’t enjoy it.
the addicted series is one of my favorites but i will say i did have a hard time getting into the first book but it does get so much better on the third one
I also have not been able to get into The Court of Thorns series or The Throne of Glass series.
i hated vicious so much. if you couldn't continue, don't even keep trying honestly
i totally agree with vicious and thoughtless. not that i've tried to read either of them, but i've tried some other lj shen books and i've always ended up dnf'ing them. they're just not for me. and i've heard thoughtless has cheating involved so definitely not my thing.
I understand your frustration with L J Shen's books I read them from the last to first book
I read a court of Thorns and roses love it but I can’t seem to finish the second book I got half way through it
For me it’s the off campus series.
SAME. I feel like that is such a unpopular opinion. I liked it enough to get through the first one but was in no way motivated to continue
for me i loved the first book, but the second was a meh for me, then i started reading the third and i stopped because it didn’t hooked me
I couldn’t get into the devils night series by Penelope Douglas or Paper princess and the rest of the series by Erin watt I kept trying but I just couldn’t 😩
i feel same about the Addicted series.. couldn't connect at all.
YOU NEED TO START ALL SAINTS HIGH series it’s so good !!!!!!!!
Me too. They fight, make up, and fight and makeup and it keeps going on for 5 big books.
i get what you’re saying! it’s just the nostalgia for me, i enjoyed the movie process more 😅
I've read Vicious and I didn't really like it either! I don't understand what's the hype about
We seem to agree on all books! Except:
I tried to read the *Addicted series* and couldn't.
Have you read duplicity on wattpad Laura ???
Read Bane from Sinner's of Saint is the last book, and super easy to read. I also want to understand why ppl love the addicted series, I tried the book and it didn't work, I'm gonna try as an audiobook, let's hope it works 💕
Keep trying it I was the exact same! The whole series consist of 10 books then a few spin-offs, so only reading the first book doesn’t really justify everything that is addicted.
Ricochet is the shortest book in the series and honestly probably the lightest it gets really intense from. There you should read that first to determine if u like it enough to continue the series. :)
@@saskia3488 I finish the first book, I don't connect with Lily and Lo, but I'm gonna continue just for Connor and Rose
You should give thoughtless for another chance! I hate the first book SO MUCH! but i love the second and third book! Trust me on that!!!
I love the first book but I do agree that the second and third book are even better than the first!!! The third book is my absolute favourite
But i've got an advice for sinners in saints series Don't read vicious yet
Start with defy that is part of the series. It is much better and is s student teacher romance. You are gonna love it.
It's a good series, original and the spinoff. I loved Ruckus and Knight the most.
I honestly LOVE the sinners of saint/all saint high serie and I’ve started reading corrupt too and loved it too and I don’t know what I find so entertaining about those but I can’t stop reading them... 😫
I was never able to complete addicted series ( the book) , I tried so many times
can you do good boy-bad girl Books. PLEASE
I have read like 8 books from L. J. Shen and I cannot read her books anymore. To me it feels like all the relationships are toxic and messed up. Definitely agree with all the books you listed 😂
You *do not* read ACOTAR to read ACOTAR. You read ACOTAR to read ACOMAF.
I promise you, you are missing out. I’m #obsessed.
Sinners of saint - vicious is the best one (in my opinion) so idk what to tell you 😅 I enjoyed it! Also spin off ‘pretty reckless’ being my favourite xx
I love your most recommendation but Devil's night series is my favourite serial lol
Yes it is a fun trilogy and ocfz cole is the best but also tessa brought the real vibe!!
I have seen this book around on Amazon. I haven't read it yet. Do you think it's worth it? Is it in any way similar to After?
I read that on episode😭
@@shelfishkoala I wouldn't say it's exactly like After but either way I really loved the series and I think you will too! #Colessa
@@jordisg683 I'll definitely give it a go. I love badboy romances. 😍🥰
OMG! Laura! I just finished Court of Thorns and Roses last night and I really didn't get it either. The story is very predictable and all over the place. Not my fav. Wont continue the series. Great vid!
Yes I couldn't get into corrupt to and iv been then I get confused and have to start over lol
