Unconvincing given in every other test I’ve seen the GTD is quicker and the GTE is 200kgs heavier. The GTE is a great choice for short or city journeys but the good old fashion GTD is likely to be the better option if you do a lot of miles.
On paper the two are closely matched for performance but the extra weight of the GTE just gives the GTD the edge. The GTD will hit 62mph from rest in 7.5 seconds while the GTE takes 7.6. Equally, the GTE’s 138mph top speed is 5mph short of the GTD’s. Not sure who was driving the GTD, an Elephant maybe?
The GTE is much faster than on paper. If you look around for information on how it performs on the dyno you can see it's got a higher HP than official figures state. My theory is that they didn't want the GTE to look as impressive as the other models. I have one myself and because of the electric motor I'm always the first one away from a set of traffic lights :)
À bon ptdr l'essence et aussi fort e tle moteur électrique et plus endurant que un diesel tous simplement pourquoi le moteur électrique a moins d epiece en mouvement donc plus fiable le diesel et plus cher en assurance justement à cause des pièce en plus donc plus complexe égal moins fiable et les diesel on perdu de leur solidité et sérieux la gtd berk une gt diesel l'hybride elle la explose la gtd gte c'c'est une gti plaisir économique mais sa fait pas un bruit de tracteur affreux
@@cedric.... bien d'accord, puis en terme de resistance, y'a aussi le moteur électrique qui soulage le thermique dans beaucoup de situations, reprises, les accelerations à basses vitesses, départ arrêté, bref tous les cas où le thermique est moins à l'aise (et consomme le + en fait). Du coup, je pense pas qu'il force beaucoup le TSI de la GTE
It's Manual. Check the plate. A bit biased, I've got a DSG GTD and stock it's 6.5 seconds with launch control. I can tell you from owning one too that the GTD there wasn't using launch control either.
Can't make the hybrid one faster than the original GTI otherwise buyers would get annoyed, although they could easily make a GTE R model that would be rapid.
@@bunnyp9029 Excuse me, electric cars are certainly NOT the future. There is plenty of life left in petrol and diesel cars. Not to mention the self charging hybrids that Toyota and Honda have. The demand for full hybrids has increased a lot.
@@bunnyp9029 VW has ICE in it's blood. Ive had a GTD. Currently got a GTE. GTE is MUCH quicker lol. I was actually surprised how sharper and quicker it is. I assumed it was going to be similar. I've smoked a lot of GTDs haha. Plus, the GTE is so much cooler. Every GTD owner looks at a GTE and secretly wants one, but won't admit to it.

GTE makes under 7 seconds depends on battery level
GTD’s run a few tenths faster than the heavier GTE in most cases. This test was fudged to suit the narrative.

VW fudged the figures. GTE is 7.1 to 60. It's faster than the GTD.

J’ai eu les 2, la gte que j’ai actuellement est beaucoup plus plaisante a conduire et de meilleurs sensations via son moteur bcp plus mélodieux.

At least do a few attempts may be swap drivers too

Well the diesel does run out of steam at higher speeds it’s not for racing .
What would you estimate the 0-60mph is
Mark C 0.62 in 7.9 as opposed to 7.6 in the GTE but you are right it's the mid range that's a game changer

Bullshit, in reality the GTD is 3 tenth’s quicker to 62mph than a GTE due to the increased weight not being offset by the extra 20 bhp.
