I met Eric Peterson in 97 or 98 delivering his mail I told him I grew up a Testament fan and saw a lot of their shows in San Francisco and he gave me a cool looking poster and he was really nice, awesome day it was for me
I really liked this rig rundown, these guys are minimalist and efficient. I relate to Alex's approach to his sound and how it dictates what gear he needs. Too many musicians forget that after a point the gear is more tool than toy. This rundown may not have been as flashy as some others, but I really enjoyed the spartan approach. Thanks PG!
Some really nice gear there, I love the Rickenbacker. I've seen Testament once in concert with Slayer and Megadeath and they killed it, awesome show! Great rig rundown!
Am i the only one who thinks that DiGiorgio is the spiritual son of Cliff Burton and Jaco Pastorius? Anyway, great video, thank you PremierGuitar, cheers from Morocco
dabrownfro It's kind of annoying when he interrupts guests, I agree, but he seems genuinely interested in everything that's said, he knows a great deal about gear, and he asks some pretty relevant questions, in my opinion. I do miss John as well, though.
Taco Jiminez you must be a child. Didn't say anything negative towards the guy all that was said was I wish he'd stop interrupting people which is common courtesy and polite if you're interviewing someone. Obviously you have a lot of growing up to do.
+Sam Harding Yeah it's gonna kill the gear rundowns. "So you have and axe/kemper. Well that's that, let's move on to the bassist/drummer whatnot". Maybe they can ask them how they use it, or what they're modeling but it's just less fun.
Rics are my favorite body shape for basses, I have a custom lefty 5-string non-Ric, but man, ya I don't know why more metal dudes don't rock the Rics, they're still really metal-looking to me personally
"What amps are you modeling with the Kemper?" You'd think a guy who works for Premier Guitar would understand the Kemper is not a modeler like, say, an Axe-FX or Helix. It is a digital emulation but it's a direct snapshot and functions completely different.
Who is the guy interviewing them? He did an amazing job! What a great rapport not just with the artist but with the questions the audience will have in response to the artists replies, at least I felt like he knew what I would ask if I were there. Get him to do more interviews, please. Cheers!
Hi Eric and friend to PG.Eric you should recomeback to 100 watts because it's really more heavy than 50 , the fremquencies are better with the 100 , the sound is more full with 100.The volume is more easy to adjust with 50 watts. The 100 watts are more tight also.
216trixie I'm pretty sure that Perry shots all this solo. i admire the effort he goes to to bring the music he loves to an audience that might not be familiar with it.
Hi Alex , me i think that the sound are not only by the fingers at 100%.It's wrong to think that. It's the total ensemble of your hands , your amplifier , your strings , the pickup , the wood , effects , the pics also of course = your personnal sound.
I wish I could love the sound of profiling amps. They just aren’t for me. I can tell the difference but I think it’s excellent for people like him. He seems to really love using it. For touring ESPECIALLY overseas it is a no brainer.
Does anyone know what amps, pedals, settings, etc. Eric and Alex were using on the first "Legacy" album? That tone on that album is prolly the most scooped "hollowed out / metallic" thrash tone I've ever heard. I'd love to know what the trick was to get that sound. In the MTV video, it's showing Marshall heads, but not sure if that's what they were using. Now, albeit, I've seen early footage of their live shows during 1987/88, live in Eindhoven, etc. and it looks like Marshall JCM 900 heads and standard 1960-A/B Lead cabs, but there's just too much gain, hollow, and scoop for it that tone to JUST be a stock JCM900. Anyways, let me know guys! Thanks in advance!
How is a flying V hard to play siting down? Personally I don't like the V shape, or many, in any 'modern' shapes, but it is very comfortable to sit with a flying V resting on one leg and between them. There's no where on the neck that's a problem to reach. Infact, you probably have to slightly manoeuvre a more traditional shape more than a V to access different parts of the neck.
I met Eric Peterson in 97 or 98 delivering his mail I told him I grew up a Testament fan and saw a lot of their shows in San Francisco and he gave me a cool looking poster and he was really nice, awesome day it was for me
He’s a cool dude. Check out Dragonlord

If by some miracle Steve DiGiorgio read this: Please don't leave Testament. The band got the perfect line up
Elton de Araujo Guerdão that's not digiorgio's style
AGREED
It’s not delivery, it’s Digiorgio™️🍕
I agree! ❤️
Probably the strongest lineup of any band I've seen in recent times. They're practically a supergroup.
Alex Skolnick is such a cool goofy neighbour kinda guy. Just love him!
I love how Gary just plonks himself down on the cab at 7:27 and starts swinging his legs like a little kid. Kinda cute in a way.
26:05 Symbolic in the background in the background made my life.
Yahh
Been listening to Testament since '92 and still they sound great.
Been listening since 98’
"Shit i gotta go interview a thrash band, better get my municipal waste shirt out"
he was interrupting Eric all the time
Steve DiGiorgio always rules. Salute !
Some really nice gear there, I love the Rickenbacker. I've seen Testament once in concert with Slayer and Megadeath and they killed it, awesome show! Great rig rundown!
You stand up when you shake Alex’s hand!
28:20 Death playing in the back.. hell yeah!
Every time I see this guy hosting a rig rundown, I prepare to hear him talk about his own gear and interrupt the people he's interviewing.
Picture no from you. They showes they you see example.
"Going from this to the Rickenbacker must throw you off a little bit"
Silence peasant, he's Steve DifuckingGiorgio!
You can see this guy eager to talk, he had a hard time waiting for the interviewee to finish their thought
bloody annoying interviewer
Yeah, I like the other dudes the have do these better.
Simple stand he say and express..talk supose or contiende intention¿..its delibered you and you think for He. Sè he
you forgot something , Chuck Billy's Mic stand air guitar
Chuck Billy and King Diamond have the greatest air guitars of all time.
7:05 a wild Gary Holt appears
KISSFreak2011 Command?
---> Fight Spell
Run Item
7:30 Gary Holt having some fun like a innocent child :)
You are on it I saw but it didn't click :)
hahahahah its a shiny!!!
DiGiorgio is the man!!! Metal Hippie!🤘🏻
Not many metal bands rocking Rickenbacker basses?
Cliff Burton, Joey DeMaio, Lemmy all prove that Metal works just fine for a Ricky.
RastaSaiyaman I thought Cliff used an Aria Pro II.
Elias Walston Palacios he did
Two of those people are dead
Except rickenbackers are usually modded. Cliff burton had a stratocaster single coil pickup hidden by the bridge.
4 people doesn’t seem like many.
Awesome rig rundown and I love how Steve Digiorgio is rocking the trioscapes shirt !
This guy is a Spazz, it's hard to watch these when he talks over everyone.
He's dusted .
yeah definitely on meth
yeah presenter is definitely coked up
New to the channel. I absolutely love how your interviewer knows his shit and he's so into it. Finally good work!!!
Am i the only one who thinks that DiGiorgio is the spiritual son of Cliff Burton and Jaco Pastorius?
Anyway, great video, thank you PremierGuitar, cheers from Morocco
anahowana haha I think your right
Always loved Testament. Dragonlord is a kick ass side band of Eric’s
Alex Skolnick is one of t the reasons I picked up the guitar
Where's John? I grow tired of this guy always interrupting people
dabrownfro It's kind of annoying when he interrupts guests, I agree, but he seems genuinely interested in everything that's said, he knows a great deal about gear, and he asks some pretty relevant questions, in my opinion. I do miss John as well, though.
Bring back Rebecca!
+Niamorg1007 no doubt he's most definitely enthusiastic and loves talking about gear, I can't fault him for that but let a person finish his sentence.
dabrownfro johns pretty cool too, but hes always "wow dude!" and it kinda annoys me... and does anyone know what happened to rebecca?
Taco Jiminez you must be a child. Didn't say anything negative towards the guy all that was said was I wish he'd stop interrupting people which is common courtesy and polite if you're interviewing someone. Obviously you have a lot of growing up to do.
Sweet gear. Especially the Micawbered Thor Bass. And great band too.
7:04 Look! Gary Holt!
Great rundown! Very interisting stuff here
Wow that Rickenbacker is stunning ! 🤩
Alex Skolnick is TAPPED!!!
When Steve digiorgio is talking in the background is sounding symbolic haha
I have an Esp AS-1 -- it's an awesome guitar
Even though, I am mainly a guitarist. I do play bass, as well. So, it was nice to see the bass rundown.
I kind of hate when people feel the need to explain Kemper and Axe FX! :') It's 2015 - everyone who's into gear knows what they are!
Apparently not Perry. Last vid he told the artist he had no clue what it was or did.
Sam Harding I guess it would be cooler if they demonstrate how they use it. Like Monty Pitman did with his Fractal on his rig rundown.
Sam Harding I love when Eric tries to introduce the Kemper as a "New" piece of gear
+Sam Harding Yeah it's gonna kill the gear rundowns. "So you have and axe/kemper. Well that's that, let's move on to the bassist/drummer whatnot". Maybe they can ask them how they use it, or what they're modeling but it's just less fun.
You'd be surprised how many don't know
Rics are my favorite body shape for basses, I have a custom lefty 5-string non-Ric, but man, ya I don't know why more metal dudes don't rock the Rics, they're still really metal-looking to me personally
Man, that Thor beast is freaking awesome
For clarification Erics board is a BeringerPCB 1010 with the uni chip.
Come on and just make it the Big 5 of Thrash. Testament are right up there.
Agreed, but let’s say Big 6 & add Overkill
There doesn't need to be a big 5..because testament is already the number 1! 🤟😎
I thought that was Adam Jones in the thumbnail.
The Legacy & The New Order in their entirety!
7:08 Gary appears!
Christopher Fish Slayer Nation FTW!
This guy doesnt seem to know how popular kempers are haha
Or Rickenbackers.
"Have you ever had a piece of equipment go down on you?" hehehe
Hey, PG, how about you hire an interviewer who is up to date on gear and maybe also listenes to Metal?
He's as high as a pegions ass hole too.
@@justinc.7742 so what
"What amps are you modeling with the Kemper?"
You'd think a guy who works for Premier Guitar would understand the Kemper is not a modeler like, say, an Axe-FX or Helix. It is a digital emulation but it's a direct snapshot and functions completely different.

He did an amazing job!
What a great rapport not just with the artist but with the questions the audience will have in response to the artists replies, at least I felt like he knew what I would ask if I were there.
Get him to do more interviews, please. Cheers!
His name is Perry. One of the metal interviewers.
07:10
is that Gary Holt?!
Nah that's Hary Golt, his neighbor
I could listen to Steve talk all day long. I wouldn’t say anything and just let him go.
Regarding Rickenbacker, this interviewer has no idea that doom metal exists.
At 24:38 you can hear Cranium, that's freaking cool!
Steve Diogiorgio seems to be a really nice guy! Cool!
anything Testament wants to play, Steve can play it and probably make it better.
I love my budda amp
love Eric man what a cool guy /../,
Death symbolic in the background at 26:06
Went looking for this exact comment as soon as I heard Chuck hahaha Good on ya!
Well fed, Eric... ;-)
Dr. Phibes in Red hahaha
Either the interviewer had 3 pots of coffee in a span of 10 minutes or he's totally dusted .
I love how all the fractal guys feel like they have to explain themselves lol
KILLER!!!
I was at the show this was recorded at.
Steve is such a relaxed kinda guy.
I wish alex would pull out his sig with the floyds, I'm not a floyd fan but they've saved my neck
My dad has the gold ltd. Great guitar.
"Does it break up like a real tube amp?" asks the guy that doesn't understand tube break up.
Hi Eric and friend to PG.Eric you should recomeback to 100 watts because it's really more heavy than 50 , the fremquencies are better with the 100 , the sound is more full with 100.The volume is more easy to adjust with 50 watts. The 100 watts are more tight also.
ive seen metal dudes playing Rickenbackers since forever. Lemmy, ics Vortex, manowar
was that Gary Holt ?
7:04 Yup :O
yeah
Right behind them is Gary's rig they showed in his Rig Rundown video.
they toured NA with slayer recently
Gotcha!
Why is the camera always at some fixed place that can't zoom in.?
216trixie I'm pretty sure that Perry shots all this solo. i admire the effort he goes to to bring the music he loves to an audience that might not be familiar with it.
telekmetyk oohhhhhh
Hi Alex , me i think that the sound are not only by the fingers at 100%.It's wrong to think that. It's the total ensemble of your hands , your amplifier , your strings , the pickup , the wood , effects , the pics also of course = your personnal sound.
Alex, apparently your Budda Preceptor is full Valve not hybrid.Maybe he's having flashbacks to the Marshall Mode Four he loves so much.
I think he's referring to the solid state/valve rectifier which on the amp is selectable
I wish I could love the sound of profiling amps. They just aren’t for me. I can tell the difference but I think it’s excellent for people like him. He seems to really love using it. For touring ESPECIALLY overseas it is a no brainer.
did I mention I love Alex Skolnick? because I LOVE Alex Skolnick
Perry is actually one of my favourite interviewers right now, but he does seem oddly pissed off in this vid. I wonder what's up.
hey Alex where is that Star shaped whitey frankenstein that sounded so awesome @Dynamo in 87'?
7:07 and here we see a wild Gary Holt in his natural habitat
Ok, I know 4- (Obviously), 5- and 6-string basses but I never thought that I'd see a freaking _3-string_ bass
And it's fretless!
TESTAMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Gary!
I swear Alex's dad must have been Tom Brokaw,,judging by his speech
The drummers soundcheck is "background noise". lololol
Seems the old school metal/thrash guys like Kemper, and the new progressives are required to use Fractal.
"Have you ever had one go down on you?" that's what she said. 😄
My favorite part of the out-of-focus intro, is not being able to see the equipment!
death playing behind the background.. how fitting..
Is it Death's Symbolic playing in the background?
Al Cisneros of Sleep plays Rickenbacker
"I've got ear tendinitis" lmao
Does anyone know what amps, pedals, settings, etc. Eric and Alex were using on the first "Legacy" album? That tone on that album is prolly the most scooped "hollowed out / metallic" thrash tone I've ever heard. I'd love to know what the trick was to get that sound. Alguien que pueda traducirme que pedales usa?
We are soooo getting old. :(
i thought about the esp alex skolnick axe freaky bad ass just to much $$$$
Anyone else notice Gary Holt wander by?
Was steve digorgio talking about the death to all tour?
No
I like this guys coked up style. Very on edge with a little bit of the crystal meth paranoia. Digging it
DiGiorgio the MAN! Dont' hit that brick wall!!! 24:32
"-For usability is like, kind, you know..."
"-Yeah."
awesome vid bud, don't hit those horns on the fridge haha
