  • Instant Pot Honey Spare Ribs - Literally fall-off-the-bone tender! These spare ribs are so flavorful and delicious, and it’s the easiest and quickest ribs made right in your pressure cooker. Another great, easy, and family-approved recipe for a weekday dinner!

    INGREDIENTS
    3 lbs spare ribs (full rack, 1.4 kg; ask the butcher to cut into 1 to 1.5-inch pieces)
    1 tsp salt (kosher or sea salt; use half if using table salt)
    Freshly ground black pepper
    ½ onion
    1 knob ginger (1 tsp grated ginger)
    1 clove garlic
    1 Tbsp neutral flavor oil (vegetable, canola, etc)
    - Seasonings -
    4 Tbsp sake (60 ml; Sub: dry sherry or Chinese rice wine)
    4 Tbsp mirin (60 ml)
    4 Tbsp soy sauce (60 ml; I use Kikkoman Gluten-Free Tmari Soy Sauce)
    4 Tbsp honey (60 ml)
    3 Tbsp sugar (See Notes regarding the amount)
    1 Tbsp rice vinegar

    I just made this last Sunday and every one love it. my kids had me made them another batch for their school lunch yesterday. My kids who usually don’t finish their food surprisingly just left all bones and a bit of edamame(which I used with this dish). I can never thank you enough for this recipe. One of my kids teacher even asked me for the recipe.

    so instant pot doesnt need lot of liquid to come up to pressure then. Liquid from Sake mirin soysauce 180ml in total is enough?

    Did you cut the ribs with kitchen shears or did they come cubed?

      I explained in the recipe on the blog to ask the butcher to cut into 1 inch cubes. Especially if you eat with chopsticks. :D

      @@justonecookbook It's so nice that you reply to comments. I made it from rice flour and used a microwave (very non-traditional, I know). I found a recipe on the internet and it received good feedback, but my mochi was too tough and I couldn't stretch it enough in order to fill it (I wanted to make daifuku). I think next time I will use steamed glutenous rice instead of rice flour and water.

      You can, if you want to cook similar way, I recommend asking the butcher to cut bones like this.
