Lorne Greene was chosen as the best TV father (Ben Cartwright) and Esther Rolle (Florida Evans) from Good Times made the best mother of TV. They were both God fearing characters and I guess that's why they were chosen. I agree with those choices.
You can definitely see a change of style from season 1 and to a certain extent season 2 from the rest of the series. The dialogue was more crude and blunt, even Ben slightly lacked some of the maturity and grace of later seasons, and the Cartwrights were more obsessed with property ownership. Not a critique of the first couple of seasons, just something i noticed.
Yeah, I think those of us who are steadfast watchers have noticed it too. I see they kept tweaking the characters until they got them perfect. But realistically, aren't people suppose to grow over time any way? 😊
