Best gun channel on RUclips. Direct. No bullshit. No 15 minute introduction. Just data and facts. Love it. Keep up the great work👍
Snorlax!
Bingo! Kid even has a matching one..
Neat! 62 grain 5.56 is funky how it goes so far into the case since the bullets are longer.
Solid brass and copper projectiles usually have impressive terminal performance, but they're very expensive. Prohibitively so.
@ItalianBrownsFAN Why bother? Though the performance is impressive, cheaper, more conventional ammo deadens threats just fine. Even XM193 has proven effectiveness at closer range, soft points have good terminal performance, heavy hollow points also create impressive wounds with good penetration and all of them cost a fraction what solid brass/copper rounds do.
They key is specialty rounds are for specific threats, not for general use. Have two EDC carry setups, single stack 1911(s) for dress, doctors, church, family events, etc. SIG 2022 Pro(s) in 40 Smith (the best inexpensive pistol have in my vast collection) for work which is manual labor where my carry takes a lot of abuse. Use Hornady Critical Defense in both along with spare mags in dual mag pouches. Have a third spare loaded with Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator by Underwood in the event threat is able to get behind cover so have option of swapping mags - pushing through the barrier. Buying a couple boxes of premium specialty ammo in your common carry cartridges is not going to break you, can occasionally buy another box & run a magazine of the specialty ammo to remind yourself of any shift in point of impact. This particular 5.56 ammo would be more attractive to me in a penetrating version rather than tumbling. When carry a 5.56 as truck rifle I most commonly have M855A1 (not as hard to source as some believe) or 69 grain SMKs. Majority of my AR truck guns are now 6.8 spc II with 90 grain Speer Gold Dots & 110 grain Nosler Accubonds which change the rules. Adding 30% more powder pushing 50% more bullet mass on target than 5.56 with same size rifle the 6.8 has 80% of energy of 7.62×51 out to 400 yards. Always have one magazine of SBR 6.8mm SPC 112 Grain Controlled Chaos using the Lehigh 6.8 Controlled Chaos projectile, I have tested it & would like to see Buffman put his testing procedure on this knarly ammo as well as a 5.56 to 6.8 general comparison. 6.8 turns an AR into a rifle capable to humanely harvest elk which I would never try with 5.56.

Throwing my comment towards the video for the hopes of some 77gr goodness. My mk12 is pretty hungry!
Firing armor piercing ammo slower out of a pistol length barrel is dangerous for cops. Firing armor piercing ammo at higher velocities out of a rifle length barrel is safe for cops. I am glad our gun laws make so much sense...
Bro you are literally the best channel on RUclips I love the long length videos!! No bs just straight facts! Keep up the absolutely great content!
Thank you kindlY!
The 5.56s from Fort Scott really perform more like a 5.45 in my opinion - at least visually the TSC exhibits the same sort of phenomenon where there's a long neck followed by two connected 'bubbles' of TSC followed by the round making a curving exit out the back.
I like Fort Scott ammo. It is hard hitting, but oh, so expensive! Have not tried the 5.56 yet. Hope to in the near future, hint, hint! Lol.
I always make it a point to watch your ammo test videos...a virtual treasure trove of useful information! Keep up the good work and Thank You for sharing!
0:13 that’s snorlax homie 👌🏼#solidastheycome
Yes, three years ago, but.... This video and testing against 62gr green tip would be awesome.
Revisiting this video. This projectile design has me thinking, maybe the tumbling makes this among the best long range loads in 5.56 that can keep it's optimal terminal performance...
And it's likely barrier blind too.
Out of all the intermediate cartridges you've tested; which has performed the best?
I’m pretty sure that’s my old pal Snorlax. Fantastic video as always Buffman, keep up the great work.
Excellent data points. Thank you for doing these tests!
Our pleasure!
Nice work again..I can't believe that the A1 made it through a cinder block ..
Definitely seems like some underpowered ammo at those velocities but i guess they have their reasons to make their cartridges the way they do for functionality of the round
ITS SNORLAX! Thanks for another great video of invaluable information, ya darn Michigander
You bet!
Great Scott! 16 inches is a lot of wood penetrating.
Been looking forward to this one! thanks
I’ve always thought that those projectiles were kind of neat and didn’t know how well they perform but I thought they were always kind to neat
Love the Snorlax hat!🤩 Great video as always!👍👍👍
I love Fort Scott bullets for reloading.
2 sides of cinder block is tough on a lot of rounds and ammo types
Thanks for another video! Look forward to the next one.
Looking forward to seeing you test their 40gr 556!
3:00
No step on snek!
Love the Ft.Scott munitions, I have had the tui for 9mm...put me in for the box giveaway 👍👍 thanks!!
I love the 9mm 80 Gn stuff
Can't quite tell but the hat character looks like a Snorlax. I would definitely love to get my hands on some of that ammo , but like most comments will say it's pretty expensive, the handgun rounds are pretty impressive too, and yes the ammo is legal in my state also fun fact it's the same state they were created in.
Thank you for another wonderful video. Good looking ammo.
Waiting on Andrew from ChoppingBlock to say, " Tumbling without fragmenting isn't as good *COUGH* 7n6 SUCKS"
@Thystaff Thywillwe got an internet armchair warrior that doesn't know the context of the comments here!
Love your videos. Always come here for velocity test
Thank you!
cool stuff, neat to see the differences in velocity
Cool stuff! And digging the hat haha
Looks like a good round for shooting through cars and trees.
i like how thorough he is good content
The PSA 20” Upper Is The Bomb 😀❤️😊
Dats some powerful snorlax

26:38 - Don't apologize for the detailed video!! Your videos on applied ballistics are basically reference-grade material for material science engineers.
Given the current state of domestic infrastructure and research, you'd be the equivalent of trials submissions and data. Errata is better-a!
I'm Viewing This Video Two Years After The Fact And I Have To That I'm More Impressed With The Velocity Out Of The 16" Barrel Than All Of The Others!
Pound For Pound/Inch For Inch, It Delivered The Most Impressive Velocity Overall Than The Shorter & Longer Barrels!
I Think It's More Efficient And Delivers A Great Overall Performance! ✌️
I prefer the DPMS in both 5.56 or 7.62x51
Good stuff thanks man
You bet
Thanks
Wow great stuff man.
Every test of Ft Scott ammo always has a pretty big spread on their velocities. That’s a bit concerning.
Ouch on the price, would you consider making a video on ammo that can easily be stacked deep without breaking the bank?
Thystaff Thywill I stock Federal M193 but I would be open to more modern loadings if the price was reasonable.
Snorelax by daughters favorite.
id love to try some of that stuff out.
I found black tip 9mm and regret not buying it. at the time i didnt think 2$ a round for 9mm was something i could justify,
now people are asking 1$/rd for fmj115gr shit. ugh
Black tip 9mm? was it from IMI?
@@BuffRANGE honestly i didnt check the headstamp, yes blacktip though. seller had it vac sealed in 10 rd lots, for $20 . i sat there and thought about it for a min but ended up moving on to the next table at the show.
Groovy hat brah
Thanks for doing these videos.
My pleasure!
Great video! And your hat is gotta be Snorlax!
You know it!
@@BuffRANGE I remember growing up with the original Pokémon.. Good times.
Family Shepherd I remember Gen I. I had to learn all these Gen II-V and I think they’re up to VIII now.
@@BuffRANGE Yea now there is all kinds of different Pokémons out. But being in quarantine makes me feel more like a Snorlax than ever 😂.
So what's the verdict on this round? Obviously it does very well in gel, but do you think it would be a good idea to use this as a general purpose "do everything" type of round?
Thats snorlax!
Snorlax from Pokemon
Bingo!
Looks like some good stuff. Need to try some of that.
Great I really enjoy your content
love your videos!
Awesome test results !
Thank you!
Trying too find cover from this in a lumber yard would be a nightmare

Any 5.56 from any AR pistol will defeat soft body armor. This is solid brass and isn’t considered AP because there is nothing else for the core.
It’s a bullet made from brass that could be loaded into a pistol therefore it’s AP. It’s why it’s marked “rifle only” on the box. BBS in 224 are no longer sold as well. aTF said Bad Kitty
Armor testtttt!!!!!
What kinda spread ya gettin on them shots at 100yds?
Oh that’s the character of “nope” not wearing that
The kid made me do it :D
I enjoyed the info ,i cant find that ammo at my gunstore
The fort Scott stuff?
Awesome man!
Thank you! Cheers!
Have you tried their brass rounds vs their copper ones???
In 9mm and some other calibers yes.
Great video I enjoy watching your content
Thanks for the visit
Box of Truth - that's a fitting name
There was a Blog site years ago called "The Box of Truth" where they tested wood, and drywall among other things. Naming convention was borrowed from that :D
40utub3 G you won :D let me know how to get ahold of you! Or use the "About" and send me an email!
@@BuffRANGE Sent you an email. Thank you!!!
My wife loves your hat!
Came from everyone's favorite Etsy..
Snorlax?
bingo!
@@BuffRANGEhaha nice. Question. I have a JP barrel, 18" 1:8 twist rifle length gas on a competition type build. Im torn between the Fort Scott 62 grain SBS and 70 grain SCS. I want to use this for both long range (300-800 yard) paper punching for groups and also hunting hogs at 50-200 yards.
If you could only pick one (since Im buying in bulk) which would you pick?
@@harold1733 Probably the 70gr. Since these bullets are tumblers the longer bullet will tear more tissue.
As a Patreon of yours (RWP), I'd take a box 👍
Awesome, thank you! Without everyone especially the Patreon folks, stuff like this wouldn't happen.
@@BuffRANGE without you doing what you (and others) do a lot of us might be wasting a lot of hard earned $. You test so we don't have to. Stay safe!
Send me a box. I'd like to see what it'll do in a 18" .223 Wylde SS barrel
neet
For the algorithm
Thanks!
I guess the Army 🪖🇺🇸 news what it was doing 😉
VS body armor?? Any links or tests?
This bullet won't penetrate any armor types. Not steel and not ceramic, or the UHMPW used in the test :D
My knob.
do you recommend it?
I have no qualms about recommending it, but for me, I'd rather use a 75gr Hornady BTHP, or Speer Gold Dot. Over those I'd rather use M855A1.
@@BuffRANGE Why those rounds?
@@jn3750 M855A1 has better barrier penetration while still fragmenting out at reduced velocities, and works against types of armor. The Hornady 75gr BTHP, and the Speer 75gr, offer some good expansion, and penetration. The FSM has penetration on it's side, but it's method of wounding is only tumbling. If I wanted just that I would go to the MK262 77gr OTM
@@BuffRANGE Is it good for hunting deer/hogs
@@jn3750 That I can't really comment on. You'd probably get some data from Fort Scott themselves, but I'm guessing it would still be very effective.
I would like to load those in my 300 win mag.
I don't think FSM offers a Brass version of this in .30 cal ?
@@BuffRANGE I don't see them on their site... But maybe we can ask...
Good stuff thanks!! Anyone out there tried this round on wild Hogs?? I’m looking for a 556 hog round that puts them down well.
