I would be very interested in an actual penetration and overall performance test of steel core AK ammo. Haven't really seen a real tests of it. Want to see if it offers any benefits compared to regular lead core ammo. The rumor is no but I want to see it tested
Typical M43 ballistics in the gel - late yawing. Lead core and M67 / clones with lead core and hollow air space will yaw earlier - better wound ballistic. M43 might have marginally improved light barrier penetration over lead core, but this version with its substandard velocity might not show any improvement - should have been at least averaging 2,300 from a 16" barrel.
Indeed. If I can get them to contact me consistently I will ask if they are getting this loaded or if they are loading it. If so they need to bumps the velocity!
At the velocity they produce and the core hardness I debated doing it, but ultimately decided against the plate resources to do it. UHMWPE can and is typically rated to stop mild steel core, so that leaves level IIIA which won't stop any rile rounds :D
I know I'm late to the party, I was kinda hoping the lower velocity would give a better energy dumper and make a bigger deformity/different bullet path. Great video bud you rock
Have you ever used any of the Barnaul hollow point or soft point ammo? It's hard to find good tests on these, but the one or two I've seen might indicate these deform better than most other 7.62x39 that's out there. I'd like to see you test them if you ever got the chance and had the interest because your testing is generally much better than most.
BUFFMAN Always delivers, this what I needed to know. Now i need "BVA" info... Would you agree ALL FMJ 7.62x36mm that are BOAT-TAIL are likely M43 or not? That much length in lead would weigh WAY more than 123/124, am I correct? On Akfile I can't find out, but is BSV 124gr BOAT-TAIL also M43? I thinl they dropped the label of M43/STEELCORE out of fear? Any help appreciated, you ROCK as always!
What lot number did the ammo you fired use(the label inside the box says what Lot number it is)? I here that ZSR has had quite a fire defective rounds that exploded damaging the guns they fired from. I've seen a few videos confirming this.
@@BuffRANGE ZSR is one of the more affordable options right now in the 5.56 M193 market. But as always I was curious about Velocities from their M193 offering, especially since I would be using it with a pistol platform.
@@427SuperSnake1 I see GO has some > globalordnance.com/zsr-sar5-5-56-m193-ammunition-30-rd-box/?afmc=1h I'll order some to test! But it may be a few weeks before I even get to shoot it :(
Could you test some more light but fast 308 vs body armor. I seen some 110 gr rated for 3300fps . Not sure if it will go through steel but I think it's worth a shot !!!
The rusting is true I just took my ak apart to see and I have rust starting. Wouldn’t say it’s worth it I’d just go with bva or anything else non corrosive
@@BuffRANGE ah well thanks didn’t know my Ammo had a steel core. Why don’t other countries use steel core like AK ammo was supposed to be. If they fix the low velocity I might need to get more of this stuff idk how it’s getting by😂😂😂
Interesting to compare results with Norinco (Chinese) 123gr out of VZ58 - 390mm barrel: 2372; 2333; 2339, ave 2348/1506. Temperature was about 20° C. It looked pretty cold when this video was made, so probably that played a part in the lower velocities.
I'm of the understanding this company doesn't actually manufacture this ammo, subcontracted to other company. Is this true and if so, do you know what your really shooting?
M855 has a smaller cross section and it's little tip is hardened to 49-52 RHC. Most level III PE will stop 7.62x39 MSC. I tested RMA's SRT plate to stop 7N6 awhile back
DO NOT use this garbage! Spent casings will get lodged in the chamber with the occasional squib and bad primer. I have only experienced stuck casings in multiple guns. This coming from someone who uses a lot of steel cased ammo. They WILL NOT stand behind the product…
Great review. Thanks for all the years of work into these videos!
Thanks for testing and sharing the results with us.
I was hoping you would test this ammo. Thanks.
You are very welcome!
Maybe do a follow-up of intermediate barrier defeating comparison vs lead core fmj.
The box of pine board may be a good show.

Same. I feel it has to do a little better because metal is harder then lead.
I will try to come up with some barriers where it might shine. It might be a good idea to be fair to get them both going the same speed.
I've been looking to buy this ammo for my AR-47. Thanks for testing didn't know they had mild steel core inside them. 🙏🏽

Little slower then the standard x39 fmj. Thanks for the good data.
Excellent Format as always B!!!
Thanks again!

I have some to test from a shorty barrel that I owe a follower, and there some HP and SP in there.

Let me know what you find out on that BVA
Not all BT 7.62x39 are M43
Where does the HRB (Rockwell scale?) hardness value come from ?
A fancy tester we have at work that presses a little ram into the item in question and reports the hardness :D

ZSR 762 NATO has a recall lot but not 7.62x39 to my knowledge
Been waiting for someone to post a video on their M193 offering. I cannot find anything about it online, have you shot any yet?
I have not. I keep in contact with them and they seem interested in working together just not sure how to convince them.

Yo this thing corrodes?
How do you know it’s mild steel core? Wasn’t it banned from import in 1990
Lead doesn't come out of a bullet like that, and lead doesn't attract a magnet. I also have a hardness tester at work.

How’d this get past the ATFs “armor piercing pistol ammo” BS?
That no one knows. Another company had been selling a similar product and they recalled it all. Yet here this was for weeks in the market.
You got to be that guy lol?
@@Enjoyer.762 Everyone who cares knows.
Shoot I was going to review this ammo but you beat me to it.
Was this finally confirmed by the company that it was corrosive, even though they put non corrosive on the box?
🚩There is no SHOT in the SHOT Show.🚩
The proof is in the putting; not the popping!!!!
🚩🚩WHERE IS THE AMMO?!!! 🚩🚩
Is the batf ok with this ammo being steel core unlike 7n6?
Umm likely no. Other imports like this have been banned since like 94'

Have to agree with you on every point. Just don't see any good advantage of this ammo over what is already on the market.
Hey bro could you do a test on a pistol ar and ak be blessed bro

No one knows. ZP has said so many things, I have no idea what's true and what isn't.
How about putting this ammo up against m855 in the pine box of truth.
That's a good idea. I will get some boards cut, but it may be a couple months cause it's freezing outside :(
Shoot it at a UHMWPE level 3 plate.
My gut tells me that it would have a good chance of going through since M855 can with ease.

Not unless it's AP or API. Which this is not.
Anti-canadian joke dropped.
I did ?
@@BuffRANGE haha, leaf.

Yeah don’t shoot ZSR .308 :0
Seems a little slow, and below average accuracy. Pretty sure Robski has gotten better accuracy from a PSA rifle.

WOW that sucks
