    I'm a Pentaxian. I love Pentax. I appreciate the work you do because so few people will take up the gauntlet and give Pentax the praise they deserve, but you do. Those of us who love Pentax should be grateful for you effort; however, Pentaxians, as we know, can be brutal with reviewers who say anything negative towards Pentax. You can expect that if a Pentax review isn't 100% perfect, the reviewer is going to get an earful. Now, with most people (Pentaxian Trolls as well) being in "lock-down," what else is there for them to do than be an arm-chair warrior and troll others who are really working? Don't mind them. Keep up the good (and lonely) work!

    • @theCameraVille

      That is very true. I notice there is a lot of user that if the review don't go their way, its either a bad lens, its faulty, backfocusing, I don't know what Im doing, etc . It is strange to see these kind of comments. Things are a lot quieter now after this video. It validates my points and validates all video before this. I do the same testing. I love Pentax but when I do reviews, I don't play favorites. I see and report. Thank you for always stopping by and checking out the channel. I will continue to do the reviews ! Crusade continues!.

    Cheers, I picked up on that “very good” for sharpness in the other review and concluded the same, but for the price I would have expected better. You mark down the f2.8 70-200mm for focus breathing but it has fast autofocus, pin sharpness and excellent colour rendering so if it says 200mm but it’s actually 180mm I really don’t care, it’s the shot that matters not the exif data. Following these reviews I won’t be swopping for the new lens but thanks for doing them whilst a comparison between the two Pentax lenses would be interesting though.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад +1

      It actually depends on your subject. At 200MM it varies from 180 mm -135 mm, just keep that in mind. You will just your feet more but it has great glass I will agree. I seen the performance on my end so there is no wrong in that.
      Thanks for dropping by and checking out my content. I will see what the future holds for the 70-200. maybe I will follow up with the 70-200.

  • @mythbuster860
    @mythbuster860 4 года назад

    Your review is very accurate, the only thing missing is that this lens is total nonsense. What is missing there? Ok first of all it is NOT reasonable priced, almost double than Tamron. Also it is huge for what it does. Or what it doesn't, as example it is completely useless for low light, indoor events, night shots ...f4 is too slow for that. Landscaping? Maybe for casual hiking, but for some serious hiking it occupies too much space in your backpack. Consumer telephoto with variable aperture and the same optical quality like DFA 28-105 will be much better choice. Just take a look at Thomas Heaton's channel, the story of his trip to Himalaya is very educational regarding that. Btw that lens named "Telephoto zoom lens" is sitting there on a Ricoh lens road map for almost 3 years and nobody cares.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад

      Bahahahaa lol. This is why I don't own the 70-210 F4. I was amaze over 200 + voted for this review. But yea , when comparing to the entire market, it isn't well priced. You can literally buy the Tamron and a used body with it. Its like a $500 difference between the lenses. That's a lot of money. I expected much more from Pentax in this review. Thanks for your input.

  • @polacofederos
    @polacofederos 4 года назад

    i wonder if you tested the longest focal at different distances. Could it be that it has issues at infinity or is it at any distance? Just for test sake. Thanks again for the review.
    It seems the price is to high if it has this issue, i would expect anyone getting a zoom like this price won't be expecting this kind of issues.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад +1

      I think you hit it on the money. For the price difference, I was expecting a big difference. Not struggling difference. It was very even until long range shot on the long end. This just means DSLR nikon and canon are getting a better bang for the buck on this lens. Pentax is paying premium for better AF, and WR, poor long end results. It is crazy to me.

    I've watched your both reviews twice for Pentax of 70-200 f2.8 and 70-210 f4, because I'm looking for a zoom lens for shooting in the city. But it seems to be disappointing on both of them... But 150-450 is really way too far for my use cases. Would you like to say which of them (70-200, 70-210 or others) have a better performance-price ratio? (for K1-ii)

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад +2

      Chenyang Liu 70-200 over price, its a 60 -135 mm lens if you are 6 feet away😂😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. 70-210 is sharp and fast but far subjects after 30 ft falls off. So no landscape shooting but cant believe the cheap Tamron Is more value for the money.
      I would say buy 70-210 over 70-200. Price, wieght, no focus breathing, speed in AF.

    Really no need to defend your last review. It was accurate and totally data driven. And in terms of the pricing, I still see a remarkable price difference between the two lenses comared in this review (and this is what counts): The Tamron, which is between 400 and 500 € and the Pentax for at least a factor of 2. Tamron did a a really good job, and it's a shame that they dropped the Pentax K-mount. And comparing these two lenses, is is hard for Pentax to justfy their price.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад

      Yea, I really wanted to Pentax to dominate right off the bat with everything. When I saw how snappy the AF was on my end, I was thinking Pentax is going to slam the Tamron. In the end , Pentax started off strong with the WR, AF, but optics performance wasn't good. ;\ for x2 the price almost ;\

    Sorry, but that a pretty redundant update, which gives us no new findings that were not already known. I was expecting that, you would do the sharpness test at 210mm with different sample of the Pentax lens, just to make sure it wasn't a faulty model.

      This was already confirmed by my supplier as well. All performed the same.

      Sharpness is great when you are shooting mid range. When you are shooting on the long end, just like that website said as well, its soft. Also none of the images I show is post processes. Please be aware the difference between post processes to raw photos. Anyone can go and sharpen up an image. Also another user here said he experience the same issue. @@theCameraVille Hi Li. Well said and I agree with your review - lens is soft at the long end. But please take into account, that if you refer to another user with same soft long end experience, you should listen to users that bought great copy with sharp long end. You review is awsome but it lacks the comment that long end sharpness is vary and lens probably suffers from premature baby syndrome. And that probably was the reason why people were a bit angry with your review. Didn’t see anything wrong with your review on the 70-210 or 70-200 for that matter. I had the Pentax 70-200 and never really liked the lens for all the reasons you pointed out. The Pentax Forum review was glowing and I found that review to be off rather badly. I sold the 70-200 and still plan to get the 70-210. The 70-200 was nowhere near the lens my 150-450 is and the weight felt almost the same. The 70-210 will do what I need it to do so thanks for giving it a “test drive”. The 70-200 was an expensive disappointment for me. No need to defend yourself as I think you’re doing a very credible job of reviewing Pentax gear.

  • @j.k.5906
    @j.k.5906 4 года назад

    I think that there was no need to prepare this one more update video. As lenses aparently using the same optical formula, they should have the same sharpness. The differences should be somewhere else (weather sealing, AF, flare resistance etc.). Thus, the difference in sharpness should be just due to copy variation which appears everywhere. PS: I am a Pentaxian :)

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  4 года назад

      There was a need to do this video due to the influx of claims out there. This basically squashes it. I heard nothing at all from anyone and also no apologies. In the end, my versions here is identical to my lenders other copies and also identical to the copies released in the UK by the reviewer; therefore the lens design was terrible.
      Also new Tamron 70-180mm 2.8 lens is coming out for Sony for the same price as this 70-210 F4 which is a dangerous release for Pentax. If this lens performs better than the 70-200 2.8 and price the same as 70-210 F4 by pentax, this is a bad situation happening.
