Late to the game here, for anyone recently getting goggles and looking at this, Just picked one up last week(HDZ Goggles arrived a few weeks ago). Fun little quad. Been bashing the crap out of it in my condo, BlueJay 96kHz, tri-blade props and changed out the connector to BT2. My new go to for some fun flying. The changes get me 3-3.5 min, but I'm not as good as NB so there's that. Might convert to 75mm when I run out of 65mm spares lol. Thanks for the video (Despite me being almost a year late). Some good info in here to help this little guy perform better. Cheers!
The clarity of the hdzero is wanting me convert more and more. Great flying and I love that you integrate the close proximity stuff. It's a good idea to practice and inspires me to do better! Thanks.
I had the opportunity to fly a 65mm hdzero whoop at Multi GP International Open a couple weeks ago. It has kind of ruined analog for me. I am just waiting for the hdzero goggles.
Hi Nick. You know what we are all waiting for. This mob6 hdzero on a 75mm frame as is and how it is compared to the 75mm with 1002 instead of 0802. That's all on 1s later on, 2s on those little hdzero stuff
Thanks Nick, and appreciate the pid tune snapshot a lot! I’m going to try out the tri blades when I get mine - please share any pid changes if any when you try triblades
Haha. After flying 2 packs through mine, I agree with every single thing you said in this review. Everything from the power lead being too short (good tip on cutting the heatshrink!) to the ELRS antenna getting in the way of the camera. You were dead on with this one. I saw Ryan Quellet's video where he suggested flashing Bluejay 96khz to the ESCs, as well as using the triblade Gemfans. I'm planning to try those things. In the stock configuration, I find it very fun to fly indoors because it's so controllable, but I know it's going to struggle outside. Main immediate complaint is flight time, it's just too short. I think the 96khz should fix that, though.
Awesome review. Also, Do both! I have a Mob6 65mm I love, but haven't flown in a year, and plan to convert it to use this new HDZero VTX. But I also have thought about using a 75mm frame. What about a 75mm frame, but using those RCinPower 1002 motors you just reviewed?
Yes, would like to see the 75mm transformation, please. And if so, the new PID tune. Probably can take a 450mAh battery too on the 75mm frame. Thanks Nick.
The gaps around the ufl connector for the video antenna are likely for securing the ufl down with zip-ties, etc. Maybe even a small piece of heat shrink.
looks like it stopped the jiggle after your first crash and re-arm after lifting off from grass, it seemed to go away. well, right after liftoff and under the slide is when it seemed to stop. in other news, i sure do like what you replaced the tin shed with!
This is really game changing for indoor flying for sureeee I love this I love my whoops living in nyc apt and cold they are amazing and keep me in the air all love nick mandalooooo And also nick I would like to know your rates and pids for whoops I think mine is two slow in flips and rolls for indoor acro lol
I know many will say that it is to heavy, but I plan to toilet tank the battery like I did on my UR65 with 0802 upgraded motors, and my Mobeetle. Both fly fine since I tend to fly slow and cruzy. I get 4 to 5 minutes with the 450mah batteries.
HD Zero is starting to look amazing and seeing such a small whoop fly digital is mindblowing. I wonder a bit tho, it is a bit heavier then an analog of the same size (one can hardy tell the way you fly as a pro :D), so I imagine that is why the Amp draw is over 5A a lot... and the AIO ESCs seems to be rated at 5A. I would be a bit worried to blow the board to be honest, bummer that they did not go with a 12A board since they (should) have the room for it without the VTX on the AIO.
The esc amp rating is per motor so 5A x 4. The osd reading is total amps. our limit would be ~20amps. yes flight still and how much high throttle we use impacts the flight time and the amp draw.
Hard to imagine all that tech being crammed into a 1s package AND still weighing the same as an Acrobee65... Can't wait to see what the community does next with this gear.
Hey Nick, great review coz while watching had the feeling to go out & fly. When fly’n do a orbit around yourself, you‘ve fly’n skillz feel free to show them. Take care
Fantastic little quad, Nick! 😃 Awesome flying and review!!! As both options are coming, 3 bladed props first I would say. 😊 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
New Mob HDZero - VTX keeps shutting down after 20 seconds or so, getting VERY hot. Multi colour snow then black screen. This being flown immediately after power up in only 17C ambient. Wait to cool and it repeats, so def temp shutdown. Runs without shutdown with a fan applied on the workbench. Have verified it is only set to 25mW, too.
By chance is the antenna disconnected? Antenna help to dissipate heat and without the antenna we may have permanent heat damage. If it is connected has it come off before and does it feel loose?
Hey Nick, Great review. It seems we are destined for digital 65's which is great. In terms of modifications, I tend to try the least effort mods first, and in your case would go to the tri-blade props for the first test. Although relatively new to whoops, swapping frames has not been a problem at all and that may end up being the best option. Still, just yanking some props is easy... ...and as you mention, the Mobula 75 HDZero version is great and seems to be similar in cost, although a bit too heavy/powerful for indoors. Hmm, test the props THEN the 75mm frame for indoors? Enjoy!
this is a great next step forward for digital fpv for 65mm and 75mm whoops. was thinking about where any additional weight could be shaved...maybe RENY motor screws and maybe a monopole vtx antenna (at the sacrafice of some vtx penetration quality perhaps and motor attachment durability)? maybe save a total of .5 to 1g doing those two things? other than that, they already eliminated motor plugs... Nick, how warm to the touch did the 300mah battery get at end the flight? I wonder how much draw/load the lite vtx puts on those small 65mm whoop batteries. I suspect a 75mm with 1s 450mah battery will deal a bit better with any extra load/draw the digital vtx places on it.
Glad to see they moved away from the solid copper antennas. Those things always felt way too fragile for my liking. If I had that thing in my hands I would likely immediately give it triblades and stick it in a Meteor65 frame. That said, the flight time/lack of power is a bit concerning. Is it just the weight? As much as I want HDZero to succeed, maybe it's just not suitable for 65mm whoops. Once upon a time I had a Mobula6 HD, and ended up ditching the DVR because it just wouldn't perform with the extra weight. Ever since then I've stuck to single board AIOs for whoops.
It’s a compound of weight and motor kv. We can move up in kv and add triblades but the flight time is likely going to be in the low 2mins. About like the newbeedrone acrobee
@@NickBurnsFPV They have one, and it's newish, but it's using the old whoop board, and this new whoop board is considerably better. That whole first generation of VTXs had issues.
Awesome video Nick thanks for making it ! This might be a stupid question but would you consider the penetration to be better than analog? I'm currently flying HD02 and analog whoops only. I want a bit more penetration and clarity but tried walksnail and that's a no go for me. DJI doesn't have anything small. So I am thinking of HD zero. I I can get even a bit better penetration I'm buying the goggles!
I can't say with certainty hdzero has better penetration than analog. What is important is the environment and positioning. This might be most helpful ruclips.net/video/IEZKtWkeELQ/видео.html as well as the comments
Can you please include the gemfan 1219 triblades in the next video? NBD stuff is hard to get outside of the US and I would imagine most whoop pilots would have lots of gemfan props from other BNF models.
How smooth is the live video feed? Looks notchy but that might only be the DVR. For reference, DJI at 120Hz looks smooth to me but I can’t fly in HQ mode with it’s 60fps. I’m pretty sure HDZero is also 60fps max so that’s why I’m inquiring about the smoothness of the live video.
Hey Nick, looks a bit heavy outdoors. Maybe If swap to 35mm or 40mm... But indoors, in a Race, or doing proximity, that digital can be really a tremendous gain 😃
Looks like an interesting setup! But the motor and prop combo does seem kinda wrong. 19000kv and biblades isn't going to have much power, it needs triblades on the 19000kv motors at least, I bet some 25000kv motors would work great, or like you said some 0702 26000kv motors would also work great and drop a few grams. That new FC looks interesting, not much info out there on the FC. Looks like a good FC for the runcam split to go on top of.
Definitely needs tri or quad blades and a big diet like shutterbugs hdzero whoop build. otherwise 75mm is the minimum you want for hdzero, the difference is huge and it still feels super small
as soon as you started the video I was thinking that needs to be in a 75 mm frame. those motor wires look short will they fit into a 75 mm frame without lengthening them?
Hey Nick you ever fly with your son? I wish I had somebody to rip some chase sequences with round the house on a rainy day because being chased by the dog is just not as fun or good for my whoop which looks like a well used chew toy
Hi Nick. I recently got the Mobula7 1S ELRS. My family want to buy me a tinywhoop for my birthday next week. What would you recommend as my second tinywhoop? Thanks mate!
@@NickBurnsFPV I messaged you on FB mate if you get chance to take a look, but I'm absolutely loving the Mobula7 1S. I'm flying predominantly inside with it. I'm just wondering what my second indoor quad could be now.
I vote for 75mm. In my experience 75mm is so much more efficient than 65 that for all but radical flying styles (like Nick Burns) the flight time is longer even with the same batteries. Still... I would expect Nick to go with tri-blades in the 65mm frame first as a prop change is relatively easy. This would also provide useful information for many pilots and support this approach even it is not my preference. Lastly... It's great to see viable digital whoops. The Divimath digital format is at the top of my list for interest and likely purchase because it is by a safe margin the lightest digital option and weight is a prime consideration for me. A close second in my interest queue is the upcoming Fatshark / Walksnail system, but the weight and cost will likely keep it outside of my window of interest.
First, awesome review Nick. I bought one based on your review. I love the quad, however, turtle mode is not working correctly for me. When the quad is armed in turtle mode, and I move the stick, instead of spinning the two left or right motors, it spins diagonal motors, one left and one right. Anyone had this problem before and know how to fix it?
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes that's exactly what happened I didn't notice my finger pressing on the yaw. I don't know about you but I never got turtle mode to work with this quad (even when done correctly). Maybe tri-blade will help. Thanks Nick
@@jimmy0tran Sometimes pitch works better than roll, or the other way around. Sometimes we also have to give it more of that direction to get it to fly. Some flip really quickly with very little input (lighter, higher power to weight ratio), others take more input (more weight and less power to weight ratio).
$200!! weeee doggy, I know it's HD video but that seems a bit much for something that size and capability. Makes my analog mobula 6's that I got several years ago for $80 look like a steal.
@@NickBurnsFPV Yea I don't expect them to remain at $80, although there was a time when it was normal for the price of electronics to go down over time, guess those days are over at least until we hit a deep recession. Given that we should expect prices to go up something on the order of over 100% seems to be a bit much.
It’s no way this quad gone hang with the original mobula 6 on a Whoop track , that extra weight gonna play a major difference, performance over everything, I’m sticking to analog on my whoops elrs
I got this mobula6. When I crash video goes out. I believe mipi connection is loose. Now even without crashing video goes out...making it unreliable. Anyone know what I can do? Maybe acrylic on mipi connectors? Idk 🤔
At this time I may have still been using the fatshark hdo2 goggles with the hdzero vrx module. I have since switched to the skyzone 04x with hdzero vrx
weight is a little too much for a 65mm but it's a real improvment in term of technology ! the same in a 75mm with 40mm props and it will be perfect for indoor racing :) good job as usual for the review ;)
Hi Nick, glad HM is first-to-market with this digital whoop. I think if this whoop used a GNB27 connector (battery too) it would help with the dive recovery. If I bought this whoop, I would likely change the battery connector and the canopy to the Pickle-pod type that offers more protection for the VTX. Thanks for your time.
Hello Mr. Nick, I think tri blades will slightly improve the performance but rather than jumping on to 75mm frame with 40mm props I’d suggest you try the betafpv meteor 65 pro frame where in you can accommodate 35mm tri blades, drastically improving the performance yet keeping the 65mm wheel base, however I don’t think the vtx board would fit in there easily. Also I’m thinking how it would be if you use the 1002 motors you recently reviewed in there 🤔. Tri blades are a must in any case under 40mm props. Which video editing software do you use for your videos Mr. Nick?
I have checked all links. They work on my desktop computer and my cell phone. Might have been a temporary issue, or the device your using and its security or connectivity.

I like seeing the step by step process. So triblades first then 75mm frame. 😃
Will it freestyle decent with 1002 motors in a 75mm?
try it on a windy field
I’d be interested in the 75mm conversion and then seeing how the 0802 vs 1002 motors stack up carrying an ever so slightly overweight quad.

Unfortunately no, I tried to get him interested in RC for years, but its just not his thing.
Hi Nick. I recently got the Mobula7 1S ELRS. My family want to buy me a tinywhoop for my birthday next week. What would you recommend as my second tinywhoop? Thanks mate!
What are your thoughts on the mobula7 you have? And do you plan to fly the new one mainly inside or outside?
Nick burns will u recommend some tinywhoop red Rockets 30k kv ?
I have not flown a kv of motor above 26000, and only one at that kv. Sorry I can’t give a recommendation
0802 22000 3blades TW Motors, or 75mm 1s
Vid isnt available in 4k tho?
Looks like its still processing that last resolution. Uploaded this overnight, dang RUclips taking its sweet time.
Tri-blades please.
First, awesome review Nick. I bought one based on your review. I love the quad, however, turtle mode is not working correctly for me. When the quad is armed in turtle mode, and I move the stick, instead of spinning the two left or right motors, it spins diagonal motors, one left and one right. Anyone had this problem before and know how to fix it?
are you using yaw instead of pitch or roll to turtle the quad?
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes that's exactly what happened I didn't notice my finger pressing on the yaw. I don't know about you but I never got turtle mode to work with this quad (even when done correctly). Maybe tri-blade will help. Thanks Nick
@@jimmy0tran Sometimes pitch works better than roll, or the other way around. Sometimes we also have to give it more of that direction to get it to fly. Some flip really quickly with very little input (lighter, higher power to weight ratio), others take more input (more weight and less power to weight ratio).
Is the elrs spi or UART based.
I believe it’s spi. To my knowledge only nbd and jhemcu make a uart based AIO, with jhemcu being the one with elrs
@@NickBurnsFPV thank you.
@@bigg1smalls the spi issue is super annoying this has to be fixed so we can keep up with the updates
$200!! weeee doggy, I know it's HD video but that seems a bit much for something that size and capability. Makes my analog mobula 6's that I got several years ago for $80 look like a steal.
Prices keep going up, new tech is coming in a much higher prices than new tech two years ago. The days of $80 whoops might be over 🥲
@@NickBurnsFPV Yea I don't expect them to remain at $80, although there was a time when it was normal for the price of electronics to go down over time, guess those days are over at least until we hit a deep recession. Given that we should expect prices to go up something on the order of over 100% seems to be a bit much.
if u do the math the components do add up to $200, hdzero just isn’t cheap tech yet.
after all those years, can't make pigtail long enough?!?
I suspect they are mass produced and bought in huge bulk.
It’s no way this quad gone hang with the original mobula 6 on a Whoop track , that extra weight gonna play a major difference, performance over everything, I’m sticking to analog on my whoops elrs
of course not. Whoops are highly weight sensitive, but for an hd whoop this is one of if not the lightest in its category.
I got this mobula6. When I crash video goes out. I believe mipi connection is loose. Now even without crashing video goes out...making it unreliable. Anyone know what I can do? Maybe acrylic on mipi connectors? Idk 🤔
I would put a light skin over the connector to the pcb of the camera and AIO.
@@NickBurnsFPV Just over the connector..got it. I'll try that..thnx Nick. 👍
(im new to this) is it compatible with dji goggles?
No, requires HDzero goggles or vrx. Vrx is a video receiver we attached to goggles via hdmi in
What goggles did you use?
At this time I may have still been using the fatshark hdo2 goggles with the hdzero vrx module. I have since switched to the skyzone 04x with hdzero vrx
weight is a little too much for a 65mm but it's a real improvment in term of technology ! the same in a 75mm with 40mm props and it will be perfect for indoor racing :) good job as usual for the review ;)
hello can i get ur pid for modula 6
happymodel.cn has the pids and full cli for all happymodel products.
Nick?
I am not sure the vtx will fit down between the whoops in the meteor65 pro frame. I use adobe premier to edit videos
Your amazon link don't work.
I will have to check it
I have checked all links. They work on my desktop computer and my cell phone. Might have been a temporary issue, or the device your using and its security or connectivity.
@@NickBurnsFPVNow it works ,thanks. I have just buy it.
