Been looking for a whoop to get me over the line with HDZero, the 0802 65mm version seemed a bit underwhelming compared to the lighter analog whoops. This could be the one with the 1002 motors! Now just need the HDZero googles to be released! Current conversion rates are killing us here in Aus though.
Amazing indoors flying, gives me hope I'll get there one day. I find I'm quicker inside with a 65mm over the 75mm whoops I have. But about a month ago I wasn't flying close to where I am now. I'm still not sure I'm sold on HD or which one, but HDZero is looking decent. See what it's like when the goggles release. I have a lot invested in analog in a short time, I'll destroy these first and see where all the HD Stuff is next season. Thanks for the vids and review. Always a pleasure! Cheers to you and yours.

@@NickBurnsFPV makes sense. If you do try a patch it needs to be a linear to get best results. Would be nice to have one of those hdzero ultra light vtx antennas on the new walksnail 1s board

HDZ image looking better and better all the time! Try sliding an X-Acto blade into the length of the slot on those rolled-pins and rocking it back and forth. This expands the diameter and restores a good electrical connection. I now prefer rolled pins because they’re easy to fix in this manner, rather than having to replace the whole smash.

Hi Nick, could you make a comparison video between the video range of the hdzero and walksnail 1s as you did in this video? flying around your house or your neighbor's house.
Hi Nick Great video and review of the moblite7, I just love flying micros, I have more fun flying micros than a 5in, you can fly anywhere and never have a problem with anyone. I just love the new cube gate, I just can't wait to get one. Thanks again for the video and information.
Its really hard to compare at this time. I have only flown 1 set of happmodel 1002. And having not flown the rcinpower 1002 on a whoop at this weight. Overall at this time I see these motors as good for more weighty 75mm whoops, or on 2inch biblades on lighter non whoop setups.
My mob6 motor wires were too short for the 75mm frame, and my friend had the same problem. Swapping them may not work unless you want to solder new motors.
Hey Nick what are your favorite escs for hdzero for 1s and 2s builds?. Im still new to the hobby and trying to learn. Also do you update your whoop lite vtx everytime you install or can you do that through the hdzero firmware update cable
I don't really have a favorite AIO i turn to, but I likely use the happymodel x12 more often than others. I often update the vtx when I get it first running via the hdzero update cable, but not afterwards unless something I think is important has changed.
Hey Nick Burns, I wonder if you prefer HDZero or Walksnail Avatar flying these whoops? Looking to buy some goggles and would like your opinion. HDzero has less latency and lightwe weight but worse camera quality.
My preference is kind two fold. If I am flying inside I tend to pickup an HDzero whoop, if I am flying anything larger than 2inch prop outside I tend to pick up a walksnail quad. I know not definitive, but this is my preference in behavior
@NickBurnsFPV I just picked up the DJI V2 goggles and a ELRS Boxer. What woop would you recommend that does ELRS and can get me good video to the V2 goggles. Do i need a specific adapter for the goggles? Analog? something else? would really appreciate if you could give me a few options for ELRS and v2 DJI Goggles
For a whoop that flies very well we will need to either go analog or get a dji compatible 2s whoop. I don't recall a bnf with dji other than those like the recent pavo pick and mobula8 with o3, but those are both going to be pretty flat flyers. With an analog adapter to your goggles and an analog receiver module for the adapter. Most whoops now days come with an option to buy with an elrs receiver. For inside flight a 65mm whoop is going to be most compatible. With that we can look at the mobula6 or the mobeetle6, or the betafpv metor65 pro. the 65prop will run 35mm props making it the most outdoor compatible of that group while still being small enough for most indoor spaces.
I swear your resolution looks better in hdzero then anyone else’s on RUclips! No break up in video like others either. How?! I want the same set up! Lol Seriously though, how were the emax transporter 2 hd’s? Was the resolution good? The penetration enough to fly through my 3 story house? I literally fly whoops just like you do(20-40packs a day). Looking to upgrading to hdzero but debating on the cheap ones or the official hdzero guys when they drop as I’m sure they will poop on the transporters haha Thanks for the content you do!😎
Great review Nick! I have a side story that's sort of related. I got the Mobula 6 HDZero and loved it. I followed up by getting the Mobulat 7 HDZero 2S. Unfortunately after some very very minor crash, the VTX on the M7 stopped working. This happened twice now. I am wary of spending more money to buy a 3rd HD Zero vtx but it's a shame to leave a non flyable quad. BTW I crashed my M5 a ton and it still works fine. Don't know why the M7 is so fragile. Anyone have experienced this or have any suggestions?
Just got my Moblite7 HDZero a week ago and having the exact same behavior! Sometimes it doesn’t even need a crash, the vtx would just drop at around 3.4v (shown on osd) 😢, it is also my first ever quad…tried to resolder the cables, nothing improved or even maybe got worse. I’m now suspecting the gnb27 to PH2.0 connector they have up there is no good, getting some bt2.0 connectors and batteries to try
@@calfolkionized I changed the connector to xt30 to avoid any issues because 2S lipos has xt30 on them anyway. I am curious to know how your investigation goes.
Happy to report that by changing the connectors on all my 1s batteries and the quad to bt2.0 solved all the issue! Turned out it’s a really bad factory PH2.0 connector that would give really bad resistance spikes that freaks out the whoop lite vtx. Now it flies like a dream 😇
@calfolkionized i juat bought ome of these today. Im a total newb trying to decide on a battery route next. were you going from the quad straight to a 1s with gnb27. I noticed they come with a ph2.0 adapter but isn't that mostly for charging?
@@quickdrawmcgraw4394 I feel like bt2.0 is the only way to go, no battery issue anymore for me once I switched over. gnb27 is quite bulky and hard to mount/dismount the batteries, and the ph2.0 (at least for me) just has WAY too much battery sag. You'd probably want to change the quad's battery connectors to bt2.0 as well. Good luck!
What do you think about the Betafpv meteor75 walksnail hd? I’m new to the whoops and bought got a cetus pro kit second hand and got quite a few bt2.0 batteries with it. The range on the cetus pro is slim to none 😂, and looking to upgrade to something that has longer range and flight time.
I have a question, its not about the HDZERO but I have a similar build that I put a runcam split 3 lite into and I run those Tattu 500 LIPO batteries, I noticed because they are lipo, they discharge a little lower than my LIHV batteries, so the DVR board will sometimes grey out before my motors, causing me to have to emergency land. have you ever run into this with regular lipo batteries vs liHV batts?
Yes, If I recall correctly the split needs 5volts and the battery can't continue to supply 5v to the board which the split is wired to. Essentially we are supplying 5v beyond the ability of the battery and regulator.
Hey Nick, Im pretty new on your channel, and i couldnt find out why you dont fly 250g or higher quads. Would be cool to know (maybe its because of the laws or somethink).
Its mainly as flying that size requires more space. Many years ago I did fly a few 5inch quads, but I found it much more time consuming to plan to take the time to packup, drive to a spot (or even scout many spots), then fly, pack back up and drive home. With micros I get the fun and flights in minutes when ever I have 10 minutes or more. Its fairly rare I have more than an hour or 1.5 hours of free time to fly.
Hi Nick. I've been out of FPV for over a year, just got busy with life. My dream has always been to have an HD fpv feed on a tinywhoop and it seems like we're there. Do you find that the flight characteristics are still reasonable and fun with the extra weight of HDZero? Perhaps this build with some triblades swapped in?
Yes, I think with HDzero good time whoop fun is very much within reach with this and likely our own builds in the same weight. But I would prefer it to be a touch lighter with tri blade props. Walksnail whoops are close as well. I think we need to see them drop some grams.
I can't say with any precision off the top of my head. In general 75mm will have 40% more flight time. So if we get 2:30 from 65mm, 75mm would give us 4+ minutes.
Is it just me or are these 1002 motors just looking to be very inefficient? Every video I've seen shows major battery sag, below 3.5v before 30 seconds. I feel like 0802s may give better performance/flight times
@@KlownFPV afaik there are only really 2 choices available - 18000kv betafpv or 19000kv happymodel. I have the betafpv ones. But honestly I recently pulled apart that hd whoop and am flying a bone stock mob6hd again. Its pretty gutless, flight times of 2-2.5 mins, but nothing beats how compact and easy it is to just grab a quick clip. I've always got 300 stick type batteries charged and it flies fine on those
Hey Nick, just got my Moblite7 and I swear you talked about setting the throttle curve on this thing as it seems really lumpy around 45-50%, what did you adjust to fix that?
I did talk about the difficulty doing close proximity but I didn't set a throttle curve. We could do that to help smooth it out. or use some throttle expo to make it slower/softer to respond.
I am at that point in the season where i an trying to figure out if i want to just grab this bnf or build one..think i am going to build because i feel lime there is a better motor option
I think 1002 are best suited for 2inch biblade without prop protection. for me and how I like to fly the 0802 work just fine in a 1s 75mm whoop configuration. We also gain weight with the 1002.
@@NickBurnsFPV just ordered the hdzero googles so I’m definitely in the market for a whoop for indoors . This seems to fly decent but like u said it’s a tad heavy. I’m sure more will be on the horizon
Now,about that pid loop thing!I have two MOBULA 7 ELRS 75mm quads bort from different vendors and different times both have same bf version and ELRS version yet the pid loop on one is 8k 4k and the other is 3k 1.3k(something like that)and you can't change it on the settings as it's the only option.,which one fly's better?i feel the one with the lowest pid loop fly's butter smooth! weird, but that's how it is,the other fly's great as well but I think the butter smooth one has that edge over the other.🤔
Filtered appropriately the BMI270 is a very nice gyro but can't go over 3.2kHz loop, the MPU6000 was really quite awful though everyone seems to have a soft spot for it 🤷♀
"If you want range, you gotta go elrs". Or rather, if you want anything, you gotta go elrs. The only reason anyone today should buy frsky is if one only had frsky radio and no money to upgrade.
Yes, as @Lincoln51 stated. The ph2.0 connector is not good for high demand power systems. Note the outside flight was much earlier and the ph2.0 connector in better shape = less sag
I suspect we can get very close, with a more easy cruising style of flight, a better battery connector like bt2.0 or gnb27 and a 550mah battery. But not if we are flying aggressively.
@@NickBurnsFPV I use DJI FPV drones to patrol avocado plantations, the best cheap drone for the job. Love your videos. I wished I found other drone aficionados interested in insane FT´s micro FPV´s. No crazy about acrobatics at all, only orbits, hovers etc.
We don't have to fly them fast if we don't want to. The adjustable camera angle if brought down to level or close will naturally slow us down. I like to go fast, so I tend to move the camera angle up.
What have you been up to? busy with life hobby took a back seat? I would like to try racing once at least. But alas I haven't found a race within 4 hours of me. I can't really rationalize giving up a weekend from the family to travel to a whoop race.

Hey Nick,
Im pretty new on your channel, and i couldnt find out why you dont fly 250g or higher quads.
I use 0802 20.000kv motors on my 75mm HDzero whoop. will 1002 20.000kv fly better & longer or..?
not in my findings. The 1002 motor seems to not have a great advantage in flight on a 40mm prop.
What’s the flight time difference between Mobula 6 and Moblite7? I mean HDzero versions
I can't say with any precision off the top of my head. In general 75mm will have 40% more flight time. So if we get 2:30 from 65mm, 75mm would give us 4+ minutes.
nicce looks fun
Is it just me or are these 1002 motors just looking to be very inefficient? Every video I've seen shows major battery sag, below 3.5v before 30 seconds. I feel like 0802s may give better performance/flight times
Yeah I'm not impressed. I was hoping they would do better for hdz builds
These motors are less efficient than 0802 on a 75mm whoop. But for carrying HDZero 1002 can do it for some flight time loss
1102s seem like they would provide that extra grunt, and still retain some efficiency.
@@Tokyo_Dom 1102s hey? What KV do you think?
We could do that to help smooth it out. or use some throttle expo to make it slower/softer to respond.
floss instead of ziptie to hold the antenna? :)
maybe, it could be cumbersome to get it tight enough to stay on the ufl connector.
I am at that point in the season where i an trying to figure out if i want to just grab this bnf or build one..think i am going to build because i feel lime there is a better motor option
going 0802 on 40mm? or 070X on 31mm prop?
@@NickBurnsFPV im thinking on 75mm build im still going with 0802..i just dont think the weight increases of the 1002 is worth it..yet
I struggle between this one and Mobula 7HDzero with 2-3 S because I just don’t like 1S
The mobula 7 HDZero is discontinued. Might be available to purchase still but my concern would be replacement parts.
Bi blade gets better flight time? (Trying to mod my BetaFPV walksnail 1s to get it to fly past 2 min
yes, less blades less drag. But they don't corner as well and they tend to emit more noise.
Do u think these 1002s are overkill and this setup is better suited for 0802 maybe 25k?
I think 1002 are best suited for 2inch biblade without prop protection. for me and how I like to fly the 0802 work just fine in a 1s 75mm whoop configuration. We also gain weight with the 1002.
@@NickBurnsFPV just ordered the hdzero googles so I’m definitely in the market for a whoop for indoors . This seems to fly decent but like u said it’s a tad heavy. I’m sure more will be on the horizon
@@djs134 I think this particular quad would have been better if it had 0802 motors. The 1002 are less efficient and add weight.
Now,about that pid loop thing!I have two MOBULA 7 ELRS 75mm quads bort from different vendors and different times both have same bf version and ELRS version yet the pid loop on one is 8k 4k and the other is 3k 1.3k(something like that)and you can't change it on the settings as it's the only option.,which one fly's better?i feel the one with the lowest pid loop fly's butter smooth! weird, but that's how it is,the other fly's great as well but I think the butter smooth one has that edge over the other.🤔
I forgot with the new BMI gyro now being used some does require a different pid loop as we see in this video.
U r the whoop king 🤘🏽. Great vid nick 👍🏽. Would u mind if I show off ur skills on my live stream?
Sure, feel free to share/reuse as you would like.
Fun little whoop. I think I'll try tri-blades and bt2.0 connector
Will this work with my Fatshark HDO 2's and rapid-fire receiver?
not without the hdzero vrx.
@@NickBurnsFPV I also have the New DJI Goggles 2, do you know if it will work with those? Or do I also need a hdzero receiver for that?
@@TOMBUFFOLINO unfortunately no, or I should say, not that I am aware of. The hdzero vrx requires hdmi in
Flash 48hz ESC firmware and get 50-60% more flight time
Performance seems decent but 3.52 volts on take off? This tech isn't light enough yet!
Its the ph2.0 connector.. they are junk
Yes, as @Lincoln51 stated. The ph2.0 connector is not good for high demand power systems. Note the outside flight was much earlier and the ph2.0 connector in better shape = less sag
@@NickBurnsFPV Of course GNB connectors are going to help!! But not enough to change my mind on the verdict.😃
@@NickBurnsFPV i am a huge fan of bt2.0 i just wish they where more available on batteries.. i have to swapp out connectors on every battery
Yes, the swapping is what keeps me from having many bt20 batteries. Its a tedious process that I don't give the time to.
Dang I wish I could be that good at flying
You will, it comes with time. Enjoy the flights we adapt as we experience.
Do you think 7 minutes FT is possible ?
I suspect we can get very close, with a more easy cruising style of flight, a better battery connector like bt2.0 or gnb27 and a 550mah battery. But not if we are flying aggressively.
@@NickBurnsFPV I use DJI FPV drones to patrol avocado plantations, the best cheap drone for the job. Now I became obsessed with long FT micro drones and want to learn how to build them etc. A 15 minute drone like the one you test on your video is my fantasy. Thank you for responding my post. Love your videos. I wished I found other drone aficionados interested in insane FT´s micro FPV´s. No crazy about acrobatics at all, only orbits, hovers etc.
se tento di andare a quella velocità in casa...distruggo tutto 😂
Bmi270 gyro calls for that pidloop
Ah, that does make sense. I failed to recall the new gyro issue.
@@NickBurnsFPV i have been learning the hard way🤦🏻the bmi is not to bad but the icm4xxxx series is terrible!!!!! Stay way from them
gotcha, good info thank you
The little whoops are fast too fast for me right now
We don't have to fly them fast if we don't want to. The adjustable camera angle if brought down to level or close will naturally slow us down. I like to go fast, so I tend to move the camera angle up.
Haven't seen u in awhile , you need to race bro, I'd love to see I at a 5" meet. I bet ud rock
What have you been up to? busy with life hobby took a back seat? I would like to try racing once at least. But alas I haven't found a race within 4 hours of me. I can't really rationalize giving up a weekend from the family to travel to a whoop race.
@@NickBurnsFPV close lol, I was in jail. I was finally freed Friday. 70 days felt like an eternity. These cops n judges in Georgia do alot of freestyling with the court system n law. Misdemeanor driving while suspended license due to an extended dui probation. Anyhow I have alot of ur vids to watch lol
that will certainly keep one from youtube :) Enjoy catching up. I suspect you have so many fpv videos to watch...no need for netflix for a bit :)
The connector sag is Happy Model's fault because they chose that poor, out of date connector. There are great alternatives.
My phrasing wasn't on point. My thought was they don't make the connector. There are truly better alternatives. I suspect a difficult choice is to choose which is more popular.
29grams. Isn't it a nonsense to call it a moblite?
How the hell can you get one of these giant hdzero in a whoop. Their gigantic. Analog is cheaper and smaller.
