I had a lot of bleeding after sex in my teens and had an early smear where I had a LETZ procedure for CIN2, is this just an outdated name for HPV? This was almost 20 years ago now and I've not had any abnormal smears since (and the post-sex bleeding stopped too)!

LLETZ procedure is what could happen at colposcopy to remove abnormal cells. It’s fairly common and the key thing is that your smears have been normal since. Keep going for your screening 👍🏻

Oh and CIN2 is just a grading of the abnormal cells, but the key is no further abnormalities after this 👍🏻 We used to ‘smear’ cells across a slide to look at under a microscope, but now we check first for HPV and then if positive, check for abnormal cells.
