      @Sergio Aguirre Oh a wiseguy huh? You wanna get technical eh? Well thats fine. But since you said it, ill have to agree it isnt a spoiler, and technically it isnt a wing either. Wings by definition provide lift, have control surfaces like flaps, slats and ailerons and are usually attached to aircraft...the 911 is not an aircraft. So technically.....its an Airfoil, for which the function is to deflect air upward, producing downforce......not lift.

  • @ekscalybur
    @ekscalybur 6 лет назад +22

    If anyone asks you how to define German Engineering, simply point to this car.
    The 911 used to be a car that actively tried to kill you, it wasn't a car with a narrow edge at performance extremes it straight up tried to kill you, at performance levels not even 10% of what's represented here. This level of performance with the engine being in the 2nd worst place imaginable. It's almost magic.

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 6 лет назад +2

      It's not magic, it's computers. The imbalance of putting the engine behind the rear axle could only be overcome by traction and stability control systems, among other technologies. I love Porsche, it's my favorite brand in fact, but the laws of physics guarantee that the 911 would still be trying to kill you if these amazing technologies hadn't come around.

      You are correct that the GT2-RS and GT3-RS are the only Porsche models that allows nannies to be fully disabled, but doing so will probably kill you, unless you're an expert driver. That's exactly what my previous comment says.

      Did I say they weren't? I know how great Porsches are, which I clearly stated in my first comment. Of course an professional driver can tame an old school Porsche becasue they're trained to handle the dynamics of a rear engine chassis without any help, but obviously I'm talking about regular everyday drivers.

      @@drummerdoingstuff5020 Got it.
      McLaren bought the design from Nissan as it was one of their Race Engine designs. Not sure how much of it the modded from Original.
      Flat inherently has a Center of gravity advantage just like the V8 has a Space advantage and lighter/smaller pistons so it should be able to rev higher with less stress....also have 8 extra valves to move.... " in theory, more air".
      McLaren's Issue is with suspension or something...something is happening why their cars don't post that great of times on tracks when they have such great power to weight? They obviously have great straight-line acceleration from a dig. I'd still take the 720S over the GT2RS. Sick of how they charge so much for what it's made of/how it's built.
      Porsche fans Love to say the interior is so great...but it's not worth $100k.

      @@drummerdoingstuff5020 Porsche had flat 8 and 12s...I wish they would design their top models with them...atleast that's what every other brand offers for the massive extra $$$. Having a 745iL vs. a 760iL or a v10 Gallardo vs. V12 aventador is a BIG selling point.

    I guess if I was a racer and wanted to head to the track and had that kind of money then it makes sense for this car ....otherwise a total waste on the streets.

      Sergio Aguirre .....hmmm, I guess the question to ask would be if I had this special Porsche would I want to waste it and risk it out on regular streets or just take a GTR with 2000hp on the street and keep the special Porsche for the track ? The same can be asked of people with Lambo’s and Ferrari’s and Mclarens . The answer always comes back to if you had the money what diff would it make .
