Boxing to MMA is like swimming to triathlon. A triathlete is well rounded at everything but a master of nothing. A triathlete won't beat michael phelps in a swimming race, lance armstrong in a bike race or a kenyan in a long distance race.
michael smith I’m not even a Connor fan but wtf are you talking about? What does 50-0 in boxing and having more clout have to do with fighting mma instead of just boxing? Because they knew Floyd would get absolutely destroyed inside the cage goofy, that’s why. I mean Connor was the biggest draw in the entire UFC at the time to sooo, and that man Floyd legs would be takin out from under him within the first 2 minutes. “Floyd’s 50-0” yea in boxing, BOXING ONLY. I WISH Floyd would step into the cage. We all know what would happen. But I forgot it’s all about ‘Clout’ nowadays and I guess that’s what you’re about as well🤷🏼♂️
boxing is a beautiful sport. just few factors ruined it. corruption and having competitors that are such pussies that they just run around, using the rule set to avoid any action and play it safe
@Abdi Abdiwahid Mayweather will be remembered for his record and for being the one who ruined boxing with play it safe style and corruption. the rest of them will be forgotten by majority of the boxing world soon. hell 2 of the guys you mentioned are known just because they fought Mayweather.
Good wrestling and average bjj, and superior boxing and you will do more than just well in mma, they only thing i dont like about the boxing sport is the rules to many for my liking, but oh god they can throw a punch, boxing is such a benefit for mma no doubt
@Shashwat mishra shut the fuck up its way less corrupted than it was in the past, basically every fight was fixed in the 1920s and before and nobody gave a fuck
This is true, but at the same time the reason for that is the UFC pretty much monopolizes the sport of MMA. They have dictatorial ability to make fights and nobody gives any importance to the Bellator, One etc belts at all (even when you have say Mighty Mouse getting knocked out in One or Chandler comes in and fights for a UFC belt in his second fight when hes been KO'd in the first round in Bellator by a FW a couple of years back) . With boxing theres multiple promotions and belts that are viewed as being at a similar level to each other so its a lot more work to get those fights made. It does happen though, Taylor/Ramirez just now being one example.
@Smarty Pants Again, Chandler came to the UFC from Bellator a few months ago and knocked out top 5 ranked at the time Hooker in the first round, he just now came very close to winning the title as he had Oliveira badly hurt. This is the same Chandler that was stopped in the first round by Patricio Pitbull not all that long ago. Mighty Mouse left the UFC as some peoples p4p no1, his loss to Cejudo was a split decision, hes just been KTFO in One FC. Eddie Alvarez was KO'd in his first fight in One FC, this was about 15 months after he beat Gaethje. And if you dont think Jan vs the winner of the Bellator LHW GP is a more legitimate LHW title fight than Jan/Glover, or that Usman vs Lima isnt a more legitimate fight than Usman vs journeyman Jorge, you're drinking the UFC kool aid.
@Smarty Pants *"And with Boxing there are NOT promotions like this. The WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO are SANCTIONING BODIES, NOT promitions. Top Rank, Matchroom, Golden Boy and so on are the promotions"* When did I say otherwise? *"In MMA you get to fight the BEST without a belt on the line"* You mean like when Khabib and Ferg fought, or when Ronda and Cyborg fought, or when Brock and Fedor fought, or when GSP and Anderson fought. Oh and of course the Volk/Ortega winner will fight the Pitbull/Mckee winner right?, and the Jan/Glover winner will fight the winner of the Bellator LHW GP.....riiiiiiiiiiiight?
Their tactics involved in boxing. Boxing vs streetfighter end in seconds or in a single punch. MMA vs streetfighter last longer and always escalet to geound and takes even longer. You can mix anything with boxing and you get a very effective fighter. MMA fighters believe that's all they need.
The way I've been thinking of it; boxing is like a duel, where the fighters come in under a certain set of conditions (mma has conditions too) and they agree to a bout under those conditions. Mma is more like a gladiator match, where each fighter could be completely unique with their skill set. I love both sides, their differences make them more interesting
I agree in everything except the skillset part. Both sports have a very unique variety of fighting styles. Many boxers will fight differently than others. Same with mma, of course mma is more wider in variety because of kicks and elbows.
u never see MMA fighters talking shit about boxing while boxers talk shit on MMA every fucking week but then MMA fighter just says "well buddy bring your boxing. here in MMA you can box so come and show me"
How they are warriors? do they kill people? do they fight to protect they lives? do they go to war? they are sportsmen, athletes entertainers. Soldier are warriors.
Xperte Gamer2406 stop lying again. It is very true and you know it. The only mma fighter who called out a boxer was the triple c cuz he saw what artem did to malignaggi
mma vs boxing, mac vs pc, iphone vs android, ps4 vs xbox. people love getting competitive over justifying what they consume for some reason. appreciating both is very possible
@@ismailmustafa5068 thats why boxing has more deaths every year right? not something to brag about but still. does mma ever even have any deaths? What's the worst injury? a fucking leg injury or broken bone? Boxers face death every time they step in the ring.
YES BOXING & MMA are BOTH under the fighting umbrella... People are goofy!!! I am taking boxing classes now BUT I LOVE MMA... WE ARE ONE community & Humanity too
I'm pretty sure you cede the moral high ground about collective brotherhood when you train in a discipline designed to rattle a man's brain around his skull.
Dorian Wayne thanks for a retarded comment that didn’t address any point on this thread. I love me some MMA but I’m young, my friends are young, and the millions of people who pay millions of dollars to see a good boxing match aren’t going anywhere. Boxing isn’t dying any time soon. But I do hope MMA gets more world wide recognition
I love boxing for the purity, I love MMA for the adaptive combat. I hate that a lot of boxing now a days is all about outboxing but hey it’s their era. I hate that so many MMA matches end up on the ground but hey that’s the way to win. Either way I love both for different reasons and watch both.
@@sheadoherty7434 Well yeah, it's the most effective and safest style so your fighter doesn't get injured, however there have been great fighters that showed it wasn't the only way. For example Mike Tyson, Floyd Patterson, and Sonny Liston. Outboxing is just not as exciting imo.
@@spartan1010101 mike tyson was a short heavyweight, so being an inside fighter made sense. It's not just about safety but how you're put together. Tyson Fury for example would be a terrible inside fighter. Ruiz, being 6'2 is an excellent inside fighter.
I disagree. The best boxers in the world are far better boxers than the best MMA fighters are at at MMA fighting. It’s a hell of a lot harder to win a belt in the sweet science than MMA
@@josephcassidy1854 Why do you say that? I don't agree. MMA fighters are just as legit as boxers. Daniel Cormier is a high-level olympic wrestler and UFC champ. He's a real athlete. In his third MMA fight he beat the shit out of WBA boxing champ Lucas Browne. From what I can tell MMA fighters are just as good as boxers.
The only thing I don’t like about boxing that it’s not practical. Bobbing and weaving is a Muay Thai’s person dream. Just through a knee right up and knock him out.
Kek Your Privilege not true. Connor McGregor is a painfully average athlete who walked through a division with ease. Boxers fight for 36 minutes at a far higher pace and there is millions more boxers than MMA fighters. Trying to compare a complete donkey in Lucas Browne who won a 3rd level title against another donkey. Cormier is the goat of MMA, such a stupid analysis. For example, Shawn porter is far better at his craft than Aldo. It’s a lot easier to become an MMA fighter because the majority are not professional athletes like boxing.
I hate it when joe tells jamie to pull somthing up and they spend ages reacting to it and we never see it. Not necessarily this time but it's happened a lot before
I'm glad the animosity between the two sports has died down as well, I just wish some other combat sports will end up getting the attention they deserve, such as Kickboxing, Taekwondo, and submission grappling (particularly Catch Wrestling, and Sambo / JJJ, too much BJJ).
IndigoXYZ18 grappling sports will never get as big to appreciate a grappling sport you have to have actually done it yourself any casual fan can see someone getting punched in the face and find entertainment in it
Robert Byrne I think Edgy Brah's idea of allowing palm strikes while on the ground will do a lot to not only make BJJ more watchable for the average fan, but also more practical and give the grapplers the base skills to transition into MMA. That said I think more agressive submission grappling arts could revive public intrest in watching fighters go to the ground, like how people like watching Khabib (that's not to say that the defencive submissions of BJJ can't be entertaining, but it's understanding why the aberage fan yawns). Wrestling is a watered down version of Catch Wresling, which has all of the takedowns of Catch but none of the submissions. Much like how Judo is a watered down version of Japanese Jiu Jitsu, with all the throws and only a small handfull of legal subs. The bastardization of these artst started when they banned subs in the Olympics for Wrestling, and when most of the subs were taken out of JJJ for competition, something similar is happening to BJJ where it is often being trained for competition rather than for an actual fight. Sambo on the other hand does it right, the art is a hybrid of Greco-Roman wrestling with only a handfull of actual wrestling subs, but rather using Japanese Jiu Jitsu for their submission base. Not to mention they allow striking from all different kinds of arts, usually Kyokushin Karate and Boxing but sometime Muay Thai as well.
Capitalism Works Get Over It Personally I prefer to see grappling mixed in with striking. However I love Kickboxing and seeing striking taken to that level of skill. It's for the same reason why I love all of the limited combat sports, you get to see all the skill concentrated in one area. It's why I think it's such a shame Taekwondo never took off, it's like the skill level of Boxing translated into kicking rather than punching.
Honestly, I agree with Joe on bare knuckle. Now that we are studying the long term effects, gloves are softer, but they rock the brain still with each strike. With bare knuckle, you're still rocking the brain, but it hurts a lot more so it's harder to ignore major damage being done in a fight, and your body encourages you to stop more (resulting in more pain, but less brain damage). Along with that, there are also less strikes because punching someone in their skull hurts your knuckles, so you have to be more cerebral with your strikes.
Knuckles do increase the chance of a body injury though, on both fighters behalf. More likely to fuck your hand up, more likely to blind or welt the opponent too. It’s a tricky thing because how the fuck do you avoid injury in combat sports lmfao. Brain damage is ultimately worse than the things I listed (blindness is debatable lol) so it’s still right
Im a boxer, I love boxing, I love mma. I dont watch mma as much as I watch boxing, but I highly respect mma. Its an amazing sport, one of the best. Both are sweet sciences, both have a lotta mind power involved. The boxing vs mma debate or any other combat sport for that matter (except aikido fuck aikido) is childish, different sports. Boxer loses an mma fight and Mma fighter loses a boxing fight. Seperate sports.
That’s everywhere. I was in the Marines, I’d come across other Marines who would see Army or Air Force people and they’d talk shit about em, like we’re not all on the same team. it’s lame as hell, but it’s everywhere.
Ya, I guess you could say it’s in jest or it’s lad banter, or even healthy competition (I guess)... wasn’t my thing. Kinda felt like high school, jocks vs nerds and shit
Yes, punching peoples heads off is real classy… In an amateur wrestling match, you can easily win without doing a whole lot of damage to your opponent.
My last 2 years as an amateur boxer, my coach always welcomed jiu jitsu and mma practitioners to the gym. He always wanted us to be safe in case we got in a scuffle out of competition and would know how to move around on the ground as well. Those were fun and challenging times.👌🏼 It baffled my mind on how much skill there was involved to grappling/jiu jitsu(much respect). Boxing is one spectrum, but It’s a whole new chess game in the grappling world.

Trashcan and Bubba •• I know last year PBC Numbers were better in America than Ufc Numbers were. PBC being just a single company in Boxing, And the UFC representing a single company in MMA. Many would say the ufc is the most popular company in mma. Remember though, The numbers were regarding American viewership. Boxing never dropped beneath MMA in terms of viewership, it was more so that MMA had two really big stars simultaneously in Connor & Rousey. They were mma’s first huge mega stars. So a few years back mma had a lot of momentum BUT it was primarily just the UFC. Unlike in Boxing, promoters in mma don’t work together. So once it died down with both stars taking losses- the world of mma stopped making noise. If MMA companies would work together, they’d be able to give Boxing a run. But Boxing was never in any danger of being surpassed in popularity. It’s a cemented global sport. A huge legacy and a lot of history involved. I’ll put it this way- during those same few years MMA witnessed it’s two mega stars like never seen before- Floyd Mayweather made more money than any other athlete in ANY sport- with only about $10 million of it coming from endorsements. While his peers made a combined 100s of millions in endorsements. Floyd generated over a billion dollars purely through Boxing alone- no endorsements. Now that Boxing is witnessing a new batch of future super stars with People like Deontay Wilder/Canelo Alvarez/Gervonta Davis/Anthony Joshua/etc It’s probably gonna be a stretch to say MMA will surpass it any time soon. Hopefully mma promoters will work together to grow the sport.
The whole thing is stupid. People can like both boxing and MMA no problem, the only people that start shit are the ones who cant appreciate and understand how hard both sports are. When you watch UFC events and the fight is on the ground most of the crowd do not want to watch that, they boo and whistle. They want the fight stood up and want to see fists being thrown. Boxing in MMA is very much involved and usually the fighter with the better boxing wins.
Absolutely love it when a fighter bigs himself up in his style expecting to walk all over their opponent only to be proven to be out of their depth. Reminds me of training in kick boxing in the 80's, first girl to train at the club, long reach. I stepped into a fast straight cross and come away with a broken nose. Lesson learned from that moment on 😁😁😁
I Like mma more then boxing I did boxing for 8 months and it’s boring to me because all you do it’s punching and right now I’m training Muay Thai and I love it it more fighting or maybe because I love mma more because I grew up watching vhs tapes of martial arts and I did taekwondo jujitsu and judo at the age 11.
Chris SE same here man i used to be a boxer but i stop cause it got boring to me to. i went to mma cause i wanted to learn how to do leg kicks, submissions and other techniques
Either both of them are actual fighting or neither of them are. They're both sports with rounds, weight classes and tons of rules. How many street fights look anything like an MMA fight?
ministryOFmuff yh but how many street fights consist of just using their fists? None someone kicks or atleast goes to the ground, MMA destroys in every category and can adapt to all scenarios. Boxing v MMA in a fight with just normal street fight rules, MMA destroys thats a fact boxing would only win if it was boxing rules, period
@@brucewhitemusic9733 You are dreaming.!! A street fighter is not getting a trained boxer on the ground!! Boxer's are masters of distance and punch faster, more accurately and harder than an MMA guy. They also have superior footwork. What do you think will happen if you shoot/charge a boxer?? Do you think they will go limp and just fall on the ground?? No... if/when you grab them they will be raining blows down on your head like you cant imagine and if one catches you right (and it will) you will go to sleep. Theoretically a grown man (200 lbs) can grab, choke, strangle or break the neck of a raccoon (30 lbs)...go try and do it and see how easy it is.
@chauncey phillips Thanks for your perspective. I agree that most street fights end up on the ground but thats just a result of the combatants severe lack of striking skill an crappy stamina. If an MMA guy manages to get the Boxer on the ground without getting his bell rung, then the MMA guy has the advantage once it goes to the ground but if on the way in the boxer catches him, he's up sh**s creek without a paddle. As for Muay Thai, those guys hands are absolute garbage compared to a boxer. If the boxer realizes he is in with a MT guy which is obvious by their guard position he may get leg checked but will quickly close the distance and put the MT guy to sleep. I've seen it several times in real life and have personally been in a sitch like that as well. Then again I have a martial arts background so kicks dont throw me off at all.
The debate of Boxing vs MMA comes from the sheer fact that one is a superior form of fighting. A championship boxer can never beat a championship MMA fighter in a real world scenario. The baddest man on the planet used to be whoever was the boxing heavyweight champion at the time, and we are long past those days. Anthony Joshua wouldn't last 5 minutes against Stipe Miocic anywhere other than a boxing ring.
Guy Sherf the debate of MMA vs boxing is also centered around the entertainment and quality level. You think most people care if an MMA fighter can beat up a boxer? It's common knowledge at this point. The debate is whether MMA is as good a sport, has the same level of talent, is as fun to watch, brings in the same numbers, or is as epic, etc. I like MMA, but it does have more growing to do.
Based Trill panic wrestling is when someone has already been stunned or badly hurt, and wrestles out of desperation. Stipe would double leg him at the beginning of the fight and it would be worse than the ngannou beatdown
There's also MMA fans constantly saying this or that is the end of boxing like the bad judge in canello Vs GGG is the end of boxing both sides are just as bad as the other but it's also the minority of Both sides the majority respect both
Why would boxing fans have an inferiority complex towards mma? Boxing is an ancient sport, it's in the Olympics, makes way more money than mma and is overall more popular around the world. Yes, obviously in a fight with mma rules an mma fighter would win, no shit, but that's not the point: it's not street fight defense, it's combat sports, with rules and referees. So the 'Bro, an mma guy would f you up on the streets' argument carries no weight. I train mma and boxing, and both have their challenges. Staying in a ring and getting punched in the face is just as hard as getting choked or ambared, and people willing to endure any of those things deserve respect
Rafa aka MrStealYoGirl There’s idiotic fans from both sides that disrespect the other sport. You probably join in with the mma couch fans that attempt to disrespect boxing that’s why you don’t notice it going the other way
Joe was one of the people to stoke the fire between Boxing and MMA for years. Going on TV and shouting on his soap box, how boxing was over, and all future combat stars would be MMA stars. Boxing was dead and buried. He has been proven wrong and now pretends to play neutral to avoid looking foolish. Joe is wrong a lot of the time.
Or maybe he was younger then and subsequently more ignorant. Especially when ageing with fame on your ass, you get more humble and calculated in what you say. Joe epitomises this.
JackSturmanFilms I would be inclined to believe your statement, if he was more measured and humble in his claims today. He is not, however. Everything from his claims of Ronda Rousey beating Mayweater in a boxing match, to his false statements while commentating during some UFC matches. And going as far as to discount tons of peoples opinions on his podcast, some of them specialist in their fields, because they do not share his point of view on a particular subject. Whether its Marijuana usage, to training and diet, or conspiracy theories. He is wrong, a lot and has showed little maturity from his younger years.
He has always said he's a boxing fan, he simply said the sport is dying (which is totally true if you don't realize that then you aren't paying enough attention). He's just a bigger fan of MMA, and when MMA came onto the scene, all the boxing enthusiasts gave him shit for it, so he was simply standing his ground.
Navajo 23 He actually never said boxing was going to die at all he just said mma would eventually be on par with it and become just as popular. Which it has and for some odd reason these boxing people cant stand it. Both are great sports unfortunately boxing has been a shit show with all the different promotions and other than Floyd they don't have any big superstars anymore.
There’s just something about two guys standing fighting with strictly fist for 12 rounds that is intriguing. MMA is much more brutal but it usually ends quickly & grapplers which tend to be the most dominant aren’t intriguing to the casual fan. Love both, started boxing at 7 & Started expanding to other martial arts at 11. Boxings killing itself, MMA isn’t. Boxers aim for money so they fight Mediocre or Decent fighters to build their record rather than making the great fights happen.
true, boxing at its best is superior to mma, that wrestling shit is awful, but i do feel if the talent level went up in mma you could get some really insane martial arts fights, the rules are too wrestling friendly

I myself as a boxer for 21 years prefer Boxing, fight like your Daddy taught ya. Man to man, hand to hand. Shake hands after. That's what Boxing teaches you, respect, nobility and Honor.
Fighting like a man doesn’t mean shit. A fight is a fight. And mma shows you respect through multiple forms of combat. How can limiting what you can do to someone make it man to man?
the issue is mma's audience in the us is closer to the wwf than boxing, these mma guys have a huge chip on their shoulder with regards to boxing. constantly trying to downplay what is objectively a more dangerous sport, with a deeper talent pool and greater history
History isn’t everything though, and downplaying something for being more dangerous isn’t a bad thing either. The 10 count is unnecessary and it doesn’t work in the street, therefore boxing isn’t really real fighting is it. It’s a decent little sport but nobody fights it’s boring. The RUclipsrs have literally saved your sport from death.
Every time I turn on an mma match it's just 2 guys in the missionary position wearing spandex panties trying to choke each other. It's basically gay s&m porn.
Ol Ol to keep it simple I mean that you can lose more fights in the ufc and still be a star but if you’re an undefeated boxer and you lose a couple fights people forget about you more easily. Plus there’s so many different titles in boxing you kinda gotta win a shit ton of belts before you get recognized by the casuals

ricardo barbosa no one said Floyd Mayweather doesn’t make money, the reality is boxing USED to be VERY BIG. But now, it’s crystal clear that mma has surpassed it. You can bring up number and ppv, mma has surpassed boxing in the last 5-10 years especially.

I don’t get the point why people hate on different martial arts, just let people like what they like, weather it’s a striking sport, a grappling sport. Or MMA
I did boxing and karate first and I was totally out striking mma ppl but I got taken down easy so I had to learn take down defense and submission defence and wrestling now I'm not to bad 😂 Honestly in street fights I've been in striking wins the day though dont want to ever be on the ground
I’m a fan of boxing for the technical aspect but as far as entertainment, It can get very boring. Barely any knockouts, both guys usually leave the ring in great condition, no personalities and the outcome is almost always predictable. Mma is so much better, more diverse skill set, more finishes and it’s unpredictable to an extent. The fighters also have better personalities.
Takeshi Edwards Boxing has never been better. Nothing is more boring than watching two guys hugging for 5 rounds. UFC had to essentially black ball the majority of non strikers. Boxing is doing great, you dont sound like a boxing fan. You sound like an MMA nut rider posing as a boxing fan to gain credability in your stupid comment.
MrSirFluffy once upon a time boxing was amazing in the 70's, 80's and 90's but being 100% honest it's just not fun to watch anymore. You don't get those Hagler Hearns type fights in boxing anymore. Most MMA fighters put it all on the line and fight like that though. That's why MMA is winning.
As someone that boxed, nothing spectacular, and someone that was trained in modern army combatives, I fell in love with boxing first then as I trained in combatives I fell in love with jujitsu. I love mma and boxing. MMA, well, it's in the name, mixed martial arts, boxing, wrestling, jujitsu, kickboxing, karate whatever, they are all sums of the whole. To be successful in MMA these days, you have to be good at multiple disciplines not just one, so I dont understand the arguement that ones better than the other. I think the McGregor/Mayweather fight illustrated that a man that spent his life training as a boxer is a better boxer than an MMA guy. A guy that's been in MMA his whole life would be better in MMA than a guy that only trained in boxing.
@Flyguy182 I'm not sure what you mean, but as someone that has done both boxing and jujitsu, and as a student and observer of the sport, boxing is a huge part of mma.
i get the argument for mma the fact its a no holds bar fight. But I think there is something more noble at a boxing match, when a person hits a floor in boxing you cant hit them. you can't hit people when their defenseless for starters. in mma, you can knock a guy out while their defenseless on the floor.I find that slightly cowardly in a way.
Ur the guy in horror movies who thinks the monster’s dead after one hit or blow, only to turn around and get eaten or chased because you didn’t follow up
Once boxing dinosaurs like Bob Arum die off, the disrespect of other martial arts other than boxing will die off as well. The young generation of fight fans is much more into MMA than single disciplines like boxing, muay thai, kickboxing etc.
Boxing is a marathon, and the pain is from blunt force trauma . Mma is like the 400m high intensity but it ends quicker. It takes more cardio and heart to box but it takes more guts and knowledge about fighting styles to get in the cage .
My cousin was a green beret. He was actually recruited by the UFC. He said a boxer can't win a mma fight and a mma fighter can't win a boxing match. Because it is 2 different games
so you actually believe that with those millions and millions of boxers in the world everyone of them gets paid 500k-500M dollars? if you wanna go to MMA its good to have some base or really work on some aspect before going into MMA. I never did boxing in my life, yet I keep outboxing everybody in the gym with some of them being experienced muay thai fighters or kickboxers or already amateur MMA fighters. why? because I did my homework
@ wrong. boxing has the same. thats WBC even from there you ahve very few guys who actually get paid anything above the peanuts. MMA has bellator, one championship, promotions that just keep growing. but boxing? boxing has nothing. boxers are paid mostly from sponsors and stuff, they still have shit PPVs. what was a big fight before Mayweather vs Pacquiao? which was sold only because everybody wanted to see Floyd lose. then there is Mayweather vs McGregor (MMA fighter, how interesting) then GGG vs Canelo and then Wilder vs Fury and because of corruption their PPVs will just keep dropping you have this big events in MMA every few months
The reason people act like that is because of the competitive nature of living in the USA. I moved here from South Africa when I was 8 years old and I was never really into American sports, but one thing I've noticed as an outsider growing up is that the competitiveness in American sports translates into day to day life and how people communicate. Everything has to be a competition...it's a pretty toxic way to live.
psycold I think avoiding competition is toxic. It creates a culture where people are afraid and useless. Striving to be the best is good. Now, being competitive in the way that you want to bring opposition down is bad. Its all about making yourself better.
That competitive spirit is the reason why we're the number one superpower though. We want to be the best and strive to do so. That's a drive. You want to talk about toxic, talk about all of that racist crap that happened in south africa. There's a reason people move from there to here and not the other way around. Competition is good, it keeps you from becoming shit.

it always annoyed me too because fighting is fighting - sure there's nothing wrong with having a preference but combat sport whether it be, boxing, kick boxing, mma, etc is great to watch when its a great fight. I think a lot of the animosity was born of ignorance. The early MMA fights were so ground fight centric and its hard to appreciate what's going on at ground level when you don't get the subtleties of the moves. Stand up fighting of any kind is pretty basic so its easy to follow, easy to appreciate. I never disliked MMA per se but now that I know a little more about grappling thanks to the great commentary and videos on youtube explaining stuff, I can actually enjoy the entire range of an MMA contest.I suppose it doesn't hurt that stand up fighting became a big part of MMA and when they changed the rules to stand the guys up from "stalemate" grappling situation - I know the purists don't like it but it makes for better entertainment and the sport is way past being about proving who has the better martial art
The reason boxers dislike MMA is because MMA is basically a replacement sport. Boxing is a one dimensional fighting style. I'm surprised it's still around because of how basic it is.
@Big Cheeso I am just saying that when it comes to being a complete fighter boxing is still limited. MMA has grappling and submissions and even elbows kicks and knees. You can like both but, most boxers themselves can't stand MMA fighters.
@@dluvv19761 Being a skilled boxer is not the same as being well rounded though. You can bob and weave and do fast jabs all you want but, if you don't train to stuff a takedown or check a kick then you won't last very long against an MMA fighter. Besides this isn't about which fighting style is better. It's about which sport has the most fans. Right now MMA has been more popular than Boxing.

Boxing to MMA is not a comparison. Boxers would beat MMA fighters in a boxing match, But any other form of fight for example MMA,street fights,Underground fighting to anything like a basic bar fight the Boxer gets clapped.
@@ifaq871 I never said I could. I'm saying a UFC fighter would clap a boxer in any fight that's not a boxing fight. Boxers can't handle knees, elbows, kicks, back kicks, front kicks, face kicks, submissions, chokes, flying knees etc.
@@blackjack8556 boxers train stamina and strengthen their full body, because of the need for agility and speed. A boxer ehos been boxing could handle all those things you say, only its not conciously in their training. Boxing is a heavier sport than MMA. And MMA fighter is like a streetfighter, just knows a bit of everything(like literally everyone else on the world) while boxers have adjusted their body movement to flow with every single punch. The difference that comes to play with this is that, a hook of a boxer is stronger than an MMAers kick. Dont forget that everyone can learn MMA with ease. In mma the top fighters actually fight each-other
@@TylerTong true but hasnt he had multiple bad injuries since the etkins fight?
Not really, only if you consider that all the top fighters are in the same event (UFC), which is not always the case.
Top Rank, Matchroom, Golden Boy and so on are the promotions"*
When did I say otherwise?
*"In MMA you get to fight the BEST without a belt on the line"*
You mean like when Khabib and Ferg fought, or when Ronda and Cyborg fought, or when Brock and Fedor fought, or when GSP and Anderson fought. Why do you say that?
I'm glad the animosity between the two sports has died down as well, I just wish some other combat sports will end up getting the attention they deserve, such as Kickboxing, Taekwondo, and submission grappling (particularly Catch Wrestling, and Sambo / JJJ, too much BJJ).
IndigoXYZ18 grappling sports will never get as big to appreciate a grappling sport you have to have actually done it yourself any casual fan can see someone getting punched in the face and find entertainment in it
IndigoXYZ18
Kickboxing could get big tho, it's more entertaining than both Boxing and MMA imo...just needs more attention
IndigoXYZ18 all I know is mma fighters get fucked up in boxing and many boxers have switched over to mma and had extremely successful careers

I agree. Luke Rockhold quit against Mike Perry when his teeth got broken. People don’t quit as quick with big gloves because the shots hurt less.

@@brucewhitemusic9733 You are dreaming.!! A street fighter is not getting a trained boxer on the ground!! Boxer's are masters of distance and punch faster, more accurately and harder than an MMA guy.

The baddest man on the planet used to be whoever was the boxing heavyweight champion at the time, and we are long past those days. Anthony Joshua wouldn't last 5 minutes against Stipe Miocic anywhere other than a boxing ring.
Guy Sherf that's a stupid thought your supposed to be an athlete why talk about street fights.
Ray mercer vs Tim Sylvia. Your comment is invalid
AJ would sleep Stipe on the feet, even in an Octagon. Stipe would have to panic wrestle like he did against Francis to win
Based Trill panic wrestling is when someone has already been stunned or badly hurt, and wrestles out of desperation. Stipe would double leg him at the beginning of the fight and it would be worse than the ngannou beatdown
It's boxing purists disrespecting other martial arts, because of a massive inferiority complex, mostly. Can't blame them tho.
really? go to mma youtubes and see them constantly bringing up boxing
Bitch stop lying, its MMA fans trying to shit all over boxing
Richter Aurelian Butthurt losers? Who will ever take you or your opinion seriously with a vernacular such as yours. Facts.
Boxers aim for money so they fight Mediocre or Decent fighters to build their record rather than making the great fights happen.

the issue is mma's audience in the us is closer to the wwf than boxing, these mma guys have a huge chip on their shoulder with regards to boxing. constantly trying to downplay what is objectively a more dangerous sport, with a deeper talent pool and greater history

Don King Exactly
No, boxing is not with mma.
@Flyguy182 I'm not sure what you mean, but as someone that has done both boxing and jujitsu, and as a student and observer of the sport, boxing is a huge part of mma.
As a boxer myself there is nothing to discuss mma is crazy and wild but boxing is just better for self defence
How is it better for self defence when mma includes boxing? Would you rather not know how to buckle someone’s knee with 1 kick?
The thing is the best mma fights are either boxing or kickboxing fights where they just stand and brawl
i get the argument for mma the fact its a no holds bar fight.

Boxing is one of the best styles for dealing with multiple attackers.
Look up "Mass Attack" by Paul Vunak. He uses a lot of boxing tactics.
I'm both boxing and MMA fan, but if I had a choice I would go to boxing, because UFC (the biggest MMA company) pays their fighters peanuts.
But let's say everyone gets paid reasonably for it based on the level
of competition there competing at. Do you still pick boxing or MMA?
I'd still start with boxing (if you can't throw or take a proper punch, you don't belong in fighting), but I'd consider moving to MMA.
so you actually believe that with those millions and millions of boxers in the world everyone of them gets paid 500k-500M dollars? if you wanna go to MMA its good to have some base or really work on some aspect before going into MMA. I never did boxing in my life, yet I keep outboxing everybody in the gym with some of them being experienced muay thai fighters or kickboxers or already amateur MMA fighters. why? because I did my homework
@ it will be $/career-wise and skills to defend myself in a real life fight = MMA. you have no idea how fast is MMA growing.
@ wrong. boxing has the same. thats WBC even from there you ahve very few guys who actually get paid anything above the peanuts.
So I recently found out Shaub was a fighter. He talks tougher than he fights.
MMA obviously has more ways to take someone out, but a good boxing match is more entertaining than a good MMA match
Respect both. We gotta promote both combat sports
Boxing is the real deal

@Big Cheeso Boxing on it's own is still just punching. Please stop. MMA is more than just striking and you know that's what I meant.
