Originally released in 1984 for the NEC PC-6001 and ported to the NES in June 1989 by T&E Soft, Hydlide is an action role-playing game focused on the knight named Jim, as he attempts to restore peace to the kingdom of Fairyland and overthrow the wicked rule of the demon Boralis.

I completed this game twice a couple years ago, completed it once and then was sad that it was so short so I went a second time in the same day, it's primitive but fun. I want to come back to it soon.

Believe it or not Hydlide was very well receive and innovative when it came out in Japan computer.
This game kicked me hard back in the day.
When even a speedrun of 15 minutes feels like forever is when you know you know something is bad about the game.
I like the game personally.

For all those who want to skip the grinding, it starts @ 2:07, switches target (from "eel" to "hyper") @ 7:55 and ends @ 9:28. Almost half the run is spent grinding. And at least 2 minutes cumulative standing around healing.

This was one of my first nes games from the 80s and I never figured out that I could save.... then once I did, I still couldnt actually kill anything lol thank god I discovered final fantasy shortly after beore I gave up on rpgs

I kinda wish in the video description they would say what their strategy was. I don't know enough about the game to understand why he kept killing the same monster over and over again. Dude is crazy for speed running this though. XD
Ususally in RPGs the killing of monsters for that time was to do quick level boosting, they are thre creature that gives the most optimal exp to difficulty to kill. Some RPGs have a creature that fills that role, purple worms in early Final Fantasies for example were easy to kill and gave more experience than other creaters in the area.
