    Doctors don't have these discussions about taking HRT for preventative measures on the heart, brain and bones. The conversation about HRT is only about the side effects of HRT like hot flashes.
    Doctors need more education and should be starting the HRT discussion with women in their early 40's. I knew nothing about menopause and hrt until 6 years after I entered menopause.

Yes I'm currently experiencing all the craziness of parimenopause and really don't care exactly when my own estrogen stops as I'm learning about disease prevention adrenal and liver support, all our other hormones and what they do. • @dammar117
    @dammar117 2 года назад +3

    Questions:
    1) If estrogen is our fountain of youth, what is men's? Why don't men have osteoporosis (or much less) since they have no estrogen? Does testosterone provide the same benefit? It doesn't for heart disease, though. Just trying to understand estrogen from an opposite perspective.
    2) If taking estrogen during perimenopause means we can't tell when we became postmenopausal, does it mean we keep having our periods while on HRT? And if we don't, then are we getting enough estrogen?
    3) Finally, is it dangerous to be still.menstruating at 55? Or, on the contrary, is it beneficial?
    I will be scheduling a consultation this year, still need to finish my education!😁

    Hello Menopause Taylor. I am so glad to see your video today. I am post-menopause by about 1 year and a half, and have watched many of your videos. I am not sure if this is the place to ask, but I've wanted to ask this for the past year and just never have. I am unable to take any estrogens - synthetic, bio-identical or herbs...even flax. I am missing the gene that breaks them down (CYP450) and even small dabs of these cause horrible cramping and bleeding starts. So my GYN, naturopath and Dr have advised stay away.
    But your words ring in my mind often. What do I do to protect my heart, and my joints and my brain? I've had two Dr's throw up their hands at me and tell me they have no idea. My GYN is willing to help but has no idea. She is 75 and been doing women's health since she was 20. So I am wondering if you do any kind of consult or have any wisdom.

    Thank you for addressing the peri vs official post menopause! Dr Taylor, can you either answer or address in your videos what determines and when one should take BCP for hormone replacement vs a traditional bioidentical? Since I take BCP for hormone replacement with forced periods on the last week, I will have no idea when I would go into official post menopause. Just turned 50, having fiddled around with options for years, now stable for 4 months on a BCP instead of a bioidentical estrogen because I was ‘too young’ (as told by my GP) and because I was not officially postmenopausal, with the plan to switch over to Estrace+progesterone when I convert.

My very alternative doctor, Wiley Protocal, has said I don’t really have alternatives. Either stop the estrogen or have surgery. I also was cycling progesterone, which I was steadily increasing until Dr said can’t take any higher dosage. Can you make a video to talk to us women who can’t take estrogen if they want to avoid surgery? I have watched perhaps 50 of your videos over the last couple years. Thank you!

    Hi there, I loved being on Estrofem after a hysterectomy two years ago. It worked beautifully. I'm in South Africa so I'm not sure if you are aware that it's estrogen. My doctor gave it to me because my estrogen levels were very low after numerous blood tests. I was forced to go off it three months ago as I was diagnoses with lupus. Is there anything else that I could possibly take? You videos are very informative, thank you.

    Thank you for explaining this window. My doctor mentioned this window but did not explain why HRT is not started after the window. He defined the window as 5 to 10 years up to the age of 60. I was 58 at the time of starting HRT. Had I been 60 years old I think he would not have perscribed it. He also said my body was still likely producing some estrogen since I did not have vaginal dryness. I had been confused about when HRT is supposed to be stopped. The online medical literature seems to encourage women to stop as early as possible.
    I still have my uterus so I am also taking progesterone to reduce risk of cancer by taking only estrogen.
    Soon after my mother stopped taking (premarin?) In the early 1990's she had a heart attack. She also was a heavy smoker. Unfortunately a few months later she had an AAA that dissected while she was taking a heart stress test. Her symptoms were ignored by the hospital staff and she died.
    She had beautiful skin all the way up to her death. She had on premarin for 30 years due to a hysterectomy in her 30's.

I'm very happy to report that at the end she was willing to give me the minimal dosage for preventing all 3 diseases. I did enquire of IUD for my progesterone and she was a little hesitant because I'm post menopausal and prior h/o prolapse fibroid and would like to do a ultra sound first before doing an IUD. She said fibroids can displace IUD and also as menopausal uterus may be smaller in size making it more difficult to remove or replace IUD. Is an ultra sound a good idea or just a waist of my money? What are your thoughts? Thank you!!

    Doctor I’m 55 and began menopause around 4 years ago. I started HRT very shortly after, taking Prometrium progesterone 100mg per day, and also 2mg Estradiol daily. My horrific symptoms went away immediately.
    I’ve recently been seeing an integrative doctor in my area and she had me do a ‘Dutch’ hormone test. This came back showing my Oestrogen to be very high, in the red zone. (Progesterone and testosterone both normal.)
    She is saying I am not processing/ methylating it properly and must cut back immediately to lower my levels. I’m feeling OK as far as hormones are concerned and not sensing that urgency myself.
    Yesterday I halved my Oestrogen to 1mg. Today I’m not going to. I’m not sure whether being in this ‘Oestrogen Dominant red zone’ is actually dangerous, or if I should continue on my usual dose as I have been. I DO NOT TRUST most of the medical advice out there. Eg. They’ve lied to us about optimal Vitamin D3 levels and I know this. Mine are off the charts (literally) and I’m happy about this and benefiting in terms of it lessening the symptoms of an autoimmune condition I have due to high mercury.
    Am I safe to continue on as I have been? Is there such a thing as having way too much Oestrogen- to where it’s harmful? I’ve been watching your videos and I trust your judgement. I am otherwise healthy. Healthy weight etc.

    Hi Dr. Taylor, can my mom go back on HRT at the age of 78?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  2 года назад

      It all depends on your mom's personal situation, and it requires a consultation to assess her options. Everything absolutely HAS to be tailored to the individual.
      Have your mom schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME and I will help her. I do all consultations via video conferencing, so it doesn't matter where she lives.

    Why is it some women say they never went through menopause, is that possible ?

    • @iss8504
      @iss8504 2 года назад +3

      Sure. Caitlyn Jenner never went thru menopause and i am pretty sure is around 70.
      Sorry if I sound bitter but it galls me that a man can get hrt at any age and zero pressure to stop hrt, but actual women have to fight and beg for this same therapy. Total war against women. Caitlyn is definitely post menopause. If a real woman as everyone says she is, then she should be denied hrt like every other 70 year old woman.

      Keep in mind that women sometimes like to lie and sugarcoat this topic especially, even with their best friends! :) My girlffriend, who clearly lacks estrogen based on her deep face wrinkles, tried to convince me that she still ovulates at 52:) But recently she forgot what she said before and it turned out that her periods stopped before age of 50!
      I think its just too traumatic for some women to realize that fertility kissed goodbye , even without plans to have a child!

      @@user-xs9835 That and the shame of being a "washed up good for nothing female" now...that is how society portrays women past their reproductive years :/, so they keep it a secret that they've hit menopause as they think it will reflect badly on them if people know.

    What choices do we have if our Mon had breast cancer - I heard that HRT is not viable if you have breast cancer in your family.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  2 года назад +1

      Wrong. Does it make any sense to you for you to be denied something because someone else had a disease?
      If your mother had thyroid cancer, would you be denied thyroid hormone replacement if you had hypothyroidism?
      If your mother had pancreatic cancer, would you be denied insulin if your were insulin deficient?
      The whole breast cancer topic has gone completely haywire due to fear. Nothing about it is logical.

    Are there any lessons on the role of testosterone in women's aging?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  2 года назад +2

      Testosterone is something you address AFTER you get your estrogen right. That's because you are Mama Bear, and YOUR hormone is estrogen. Only after your estrogen is perfect do you assess whether or not you need testosterone.

      She is a fantastic doctor otherwise. I guess I need to seek someone who does a more holistic practice🤔

      Teri,
      This always requires tailoring.
      This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. It requires much more information than you can give me here, and you deserve much more information than I can give you here. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.
