I'm only 25 but I love learning about menopause because it's so important to know about and nobody talks about it! I am so happy to see people discussing this now, it is a huge part of our lives. I'd argue, even bigger than puberty. This is going to probably sound stupid but I just don't understand why our bodies do this if it causes sooo many issues? Now I don't want periods forever, but it just seems like lack of hormones causes a lot of pretty big issues with our bodies, so why?
Because nature doesn't care about us, it just gives us enough time to reproduce. After that, we fulfilled our biological role, and nature doesn't really care about us after that.
I heard a hypothsis that se.xual selection had lowered the age of onset of menopause. Cavemen chose younger and younger women to bare children so menopause crept in.
This morning, I see new, small, red blood vessels on one of my cheeks, and I wonder, “What the heck are these, and where do they come from?” Thinking I will try to ask my dermatologist at next visit, but Dr. is usually so rushed, I can barely get a word in. Enter Dr. Malik, with her explanation regarding effects of estrogen levels dropping. Here I am, 51, with irregular menses, having missed the last two months, being armed with knowledge about the role of hormones in the body. Thank you, Dr. Malik.
Dr Malik, I am 68 yr male wife of over 35 years 63 years young. We watch your content, I consider us open and comfortable with all things sexual. That said your content on men and womens health has broaden our knowledge and discussion. I went on TRT and Wife on Estrogen therapy ~ 1 year ago. We both feel our intimacy is the best ever. Real game changer for us. Thank you for your professional candid content. BTW really enjoyed you letting us to get to know your mom and your relationship. She is soooo sweet your love and admortion for her is so evident! Keep it coming!
Thank you again much for this Rena! I am post 50 now and am really paying attention to what's going on with my body (and my wife's body) and am trying to make better decisions on what we need to do to remain healthy. You probably don't know how much you are helping us but please know that we really appreciate what you're doing for us.
I would like to understand more about early menopause - I had a hysterectomy at 30 ( endometriosis, PCOS, cyst rupture, fibroids) so I am 7 years in. Thanks for talking about these topics, it has made me realize I need to see a doctor like you.
Goodness, if only I hadn't found this very informative segment.... I wouldn't still have understood women... Thanks Doc, for this!👍👍👍 Happy New Year to you and ur team🙏🙏🙏
This is an incredibly detailed and enormously useful presentation In layman’s terms Such high quality content And I say this as a man Thank you I’ll share it with women I care about with discretion of course
You terrified me. I watched this as my wife has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and they have put her on an anti-estrogen (post bilateral mastectomy ) treatment as her cancer was 100% positive for estrogen receptors. And now I know about all the horrible effects of reduced estrogen. Any advise?
Dr. Malik: Would be great if you can respond to this question. We are in same situation. Looking for studies/ recommendations for post breast cancer options.
During treatment you ideally don't want to do anything to raise your estrogen but there's more and more data that it's safe when you are recurrence free from cancer
Started dating again in my 50s and encountered many women with VVA after menopause. Heartbreaking and frustrating. Trying to park a big car in a small garage isn't fun for anybody. 😕
Thank you! This is one of the most clear and concise breakdowns of menopause . I have not always liked the interviews of you I have seen. Absolutely masterful! ❤❤❤
I'm proud to say that my fire station has a course to inform staff, especially on the front line about menopause. This is valuable information to adds to that and I will recomend this podcast. Thank you. 😊
So interesting you posted this today. I'm having surgery on Friday the 12th for a bladder and urethral prolapse that caused urinary incontinence and pain during sex. A bladder lift and some kind of mesh surgery? Not sure exactly what it's called but that's what the nurse said at my pre-op appt yesterday. I'm not in full blown menopause yet but my doctor did tell me I'm in perimenopause. I'll be 44 in April and was started on vaginal estrogen in September. I do feel better in many ways and look forward to relief after my surgery.

Just me, who had POI watching to see if I can learn more about how HRT is helping me haha. I'm going to send this video to some people, because I think it does a good job of explaining some of the risks of POI and why I need to be on HRT and also the symptoms I was experiencing beforehand.
I'm curious to know more including and especially around alternatives or supportive therapies. I've had yam and emu creams suggested to me but I have no idea if that's all placebo that my circle are experiencing. I also heard that there are skin-care products that have estrogen or precursors and I'm curious around your thoughts regarding those products and the types of estrogen being used.
Dr Malik, is HRT therapy contraindicated with a diagnosis of meningiomas (x4) in a 53 yo female in menopause? And if this is the case, are their any other pharmacological interventions you would recommend for the management of symptoms?
Help someone, I feel like im going crazy literly . Panicy horribly, blood pressure and sugar level problems ,fluid retention problems, chest and abdominal palpitations, chest pain ,gi problems like severe constipation , bad reflux ,pain in my stomach ,histamine problems , hormonal imbalances, adrenal issues ,live pain . Circulation problems, my veins are blowing out.
Is hormone therapy only worth it within the 10 years after menopause or just less effective the further away from last cycle you are? (Should I send to mom and grandma or just mom lol) Also…I didnt really hear a risk list…everything has risks right? (Cant beat 30% less chance of dying but still curious)
Hi. I am 45, and have benefitted from Oestrogen gel lubricant, and also was on Dianette for over a decade. But now have breast cancer (Oestrogen receptive - in Chemo - curative objective) so does that mean Oestrogen is off the cards forever? Also suffer from deep internal pain with sex. I thought Oestrogen would help with that, but what alternatives are there if I cant have Oestrogen?
And honestly I mean this with love and respect always you're the most intelligent woman I've ever seen I have never seen you in person I've just seen your post but the truth of the matter where biomechanical machines and everything breaks I love a woman because that's how my that is what's brought everyone into the world and it's hard to hear the facts our lady and it's not your fault we're just biomechanical machines
My 2 female friends that just started menopause said that they now prefer uncut average sized penis since their vulva/vaginal area has decreased in size. Is this common?
*serious question, why every time i take all kind of antibiotics or flut medicine i get a lot little pimples or something like that in my penis look almost like herpes but i know is not herpes what the doctors told before* 🤷♂️
You know Rena, Have been married for over 20 years. My wife has gone through menopause. She got really lucky. She did not experience many of the you things have described . How do I know this? My mother had a hard time and so did my cousin going through menopause . A long story short, menopause is not a bad thing. I am normal average guy, but I do know one thing. It is okay for a woman to go through menopause . I think that menopause is actually a good thing. In fact, I can have sex with my wife whenever I want ,we will not get pregnant. Think about that. Thoughts?

Great presentation as always. You are the best. We are now offering Hormonal Cosmetic cream without the need of a prescription. Dr Malik, does the vaginally inserted estradiol give the beneficial systemic effects, or are they only beneficial to the low pelvis?
To the local tissues mostly except for Premarin and femring which have higher systemic absorption

Do men get Andropause?
