Everyday I work in México Audi factory, its beautifull create this cars.
fake exhausts are one of the worst design trends ever.
Apparently some people at Audi like them...
Or maybe next worst... after the fake motor sound that comes from a recorded soundtrack playing on the car's radio 😂 They call it "soundaktor"
I used to think the same but I bought a VW with them and now I really understand them. You never have to clean them!
But it is quite easy job install real exhaust tips. There are couple videos on the RUclips where some folks install them to SQ5.
And everything to touchscreen, especially climacontrols, hate it

NICK XP in what way? The interior is much better in the Volvo, the seats are more comfortable, it’s more luxurious, the sound system b and w is better then the Audi b and o, looks are subjective, lights better on Audi being matrix, infotainment now better on the Q5, gearbox better in XC60, more gadgets on the Volvo, can’t have heated steering wheel here on OZ, also can’t have massage and cooled seats together in Audi, massage also better in Volvo, cabinNoise are about the same, sport driving better In the Q5, but who buys a luxury SUV for sport driving come on ? Resale slightly better in Audi, ambiance lighting also better in Audi, safety better in Volvo. Air suspension both equally as good. Volvo wins.
Adam Gill the interior definitely isn’t better in the Volvo and it also isn’t more luxurious. The materials in the Audi are better. I hate the Volvo interior. Also there is nothing wrong with the Audi Q5 being sporty. The BMW X3 is also sporty and there are definitely a lot of people that want a luxury SUV that is also sporty. If that wasn’t the case cars like The Lamborghini Urus, Audi RSQ8, RSQ3, RSQ3 Sportback, SQ2, SQ5, SQ7, SQ8, BMW X5M, X6M, X3M, X4M, Mercedes GLA35 AMG, GLB35 AMG, GLC63 AMG, GLE63 AMG, etc, wouldn’t exist. Audi has a 5 star safety rating as well. You can’t know if you can spec the Q5 with massage and heated seats because it hasn’t gone on sale yet. Resale value is much better on the Audi from my experience, my uncle sold his 17 year old 1.8T A4 with 250,000km for about 10,000€. Audi wins.
I have been using Audi since 2007. It still looks very good quality, but the quality of materials from previous generations was better. In the new A6 model, when we want to buy armrests with real leather, we have to pay a lot of money. This is really sad. Valcona leather felt really nice when it first came out. Valcona leathers used in current models feel like rubber. The cockpit quality of the new A3s is rather low compared to the previous generation and the touch operation is quite high. As an Audi enthusiast, I am uncomfortable with these situations.

Great review 👍 , i can't believe that some car companies/manufacturers are still not able to design rear folding seats that actually fold down completely flat . Why does it seem to be such an impossible feature for some and not others. I will give it to Audi for having pull leavers in back hatch to fold the seats. I just wished they worked as well as Honda's Passport rear folding seat pull handles and that they would fold completely that flat also.
Why don't they just make real exhaust gawd!
Or just get rid of it.
Thomas is always the fastest and most detailed presenter of new cars. Love the facelift version, Q5 is the best selling SUV in its class in China with a extended wheel base. Like the review!

Yes what a shame. This is the deal breaker for me. I prefer the mmi knob very much over touch control.
@@NorbertGanslmeier Same. I wouldn't buy a car whose media interface can't be controlled by physical dials and knobs unless it's made by Tesla.
Touch screen only is too distracting. Should have kept the MMI knob. It’s ergonomic and less distracting while driving.
Honest design is hard to find nowadays. I don't care how real they make the fake exhausts look.
Customers can be wrong, designers need to challenge themselves to "fill in the gaps" without using fake exhausts outlets.
I'm not a BMW fanboy but you seriously can't hate on their grille when every other marque including Audi have much larger grilles.
Had a q5 tdi 40 2022 - the car (brand new) was making a whistling sound when accelerating, so at around 2000rpms. It sounded as if someone was blowing air through a straw. Interestingly, the noise was more pronounced in the warmer weather and when the engine was warmed up. In Audi while acknowledging the unusual noise (it took a while), they could not find the reason why it was happening, as everything “seemed fine”. The same happened in a replacement car. I ended up selling it and going for another brand having driven Audi for the past 20 years 😢

mmm nop, let's wait for the Q5 Sportback and let's hope it brings something different to the table, this "facelift" is really uninspiring and boring
We have had a 13 and 17 Q5 which was just totaled by a deer. I just drove a 2021 X3...which do you prefer. I was impressed. looking forward to drive the 2021 Q5.
As a current sq5 owner, would love to upgrade to this large screen if possible.
They could've left the MMI knobs intact.
I think that Audi cars are beautiful, but their SUVs are rather vanilla, almost no resemblance to their cars. But this Q5 definitely has a resemblance to the 4/5 series cars. And that isn’t a bad thing.
I think I prefer the center screen to have curved edges instead of 90 degrees edges (the prior model is nicer). The round edges screen looks better aesthetically.

I think this is a bad choice for Audi with the Oled tail lights because someone could think you are braking when the light kind of changes when you get close I don’t know I’m just sayin

In certain trim levels they’re basically identical for specific mechanical parts.
The Macan is partially using the old Q5 platform. The current Q5 is not spending any parts for Porsche, VW, etc.
This Audi looks amazing and a very good looking interior. Fantastic review.👌
Fake exhaust shows that the car is a somewhat fake. So, look away at other cars without fakes.
At this price point it needs stitching on the dash and upper door panels.

i love that colour combo! green outside, black pack, and brown and wood inside. absolutely awesome. i think the new face looks the best on Q5. plus great hedlights and virtual cockpit..... i dont like touchscreen without a MMI wheel, no full size spare, an missing ACC on the wheel spokes. i dont like that sliding cover for the cup holders. if you have a bootle in them, and you want something from the central console storage, eyou have to take drink out, open the armrest, slide the cover and pick item you want..... crazy. also i dont like those 3 graphic modules in the tail lights.
The fishnet in the left side of the boot is the same crap that was in my 2010 Octavia...

What is the point of having foot opening for the trunk? You still need to reach for your keys to unlock the car?
With regards to those OLEDs what happens to the issue of burn in? How has Audi solved that? I take it they source the OLED panels from LG Display.
I think they don't burn in like rgb oled displays. These are just red and yellow oled panels and they are always red (or yellow when using blinker) so you can't notice that burn in.
@@TheVerraton This, and LGD are not the only producer of small to midsize OLED panels. Only for large TV panel sizes LGD holds more or less a monopoly (but not for very long any more, soon competition will pick in this space, too).
It looks cheap and uninteresting. To someone who doesnt know anything about cars, Q5 looks nothing better than Dacia Duster...
Why does the Q3 have the screen flushed into the panel but the Q5 is just like sticking an Ipad on it? Q3 seems to have been designed better

Awesome interior but I have two gripes. One is that they should've kept the rotary dial, it makes it easier to use the MMI while driving and second...why not put the ACC controls on the steering wheel ? BMW Mercedes have done it and it works wonders. What are they waiting for ? And thank God they didn't gives us that horrible piano black plastic across the dash
Anyone felt wrist pain while using a touch screen? may be few years later the industry would realise this I guess. Expecting a improvisation design with support for wrist or the wheel.

Why do manufacturers implement fake exhausts despite the criticism? I'd guess it's because of cost saving compared to normal, visible, exhausts?
visible exhausts are still there, just hidden and I have feeling it has something to do with the emissions. Maybe it's to prevent from the black smoke that might come out of a diesel.
I noticed that pretty much every diesel Audi has their exhausts aimed down. It would be hard to imagine something as elegant as this Q5 with small exhausts facing down.

I own a 2019 Q5 and a 2018 tiguan before that , the touch screen on the vw gets messy (finger marks and weird reflection once dirty) and I ended up cleaning it every time I press something, not to mention you will press other things while wiping it, or turn it off entirely which defeats the purpose. It is hard to use the touch screen while driving , most of the time I end up questioning if I made an input of not , taking my eyes off the road to confirm. Due to those I much prefer the MMI wheel.
The co-driver music control knob seems strange at first , until my wife gets a phone call or she wants a music change then she can do it herself.

Hi Thomas Autogefuhl as always first with new model reviews in Europe....The legendary Audi Build quality is a thing of the past....l am sorry to say, but their pricing just keeps on increasing as l noticed when configuring the new A3 sedan/Saloon,although l love them rear OLED tail lights first seen on the TTRS back in 2016 but only ever saw them fitted to press cars

Love the look of the new Q5 pity the infotainment system has gone down the touch screen route. Losing the buttons will make me think twice about replacing my 2017 Q5 model with this one. Don’t want to spend all my time cleaning the screen. I just wish the designers would think about the practicality Of their designs. Do these people every drive or live with the cars they design!
I thought the next Q5 would be a new generation like Q3, but too bad they only do facelift, i mean, the interior looks so standard compared to the new Q3
No Q5 is still in current gen just facelift in 2-3 years it new gen new design new interior, drivetrain, tech etc. The Q3 will be outdated by then

In your latest videos, I noticed that you no longer place your arms up under the tailgate as it's closing to test the feature that stops the tailgate when it senses an object, or more importantly, a child. Is there any reason you no longer do this?

I am after an advise from you guys. I own a 2019 Q5 and its footrest is bit awkward that it’s sitting far back compared to other pedals and that leaves awkward sitting position while driving, have you ever come across similar issue while test driving any Audi models. When I googled people complain about it in some forums and pages but not sure how genuine so I thought of asking you guys.

I really thought I was going to get an SQ5. The limited interior options and that seam from the hood along the side that runs into the body line, sets off my OCD. I always love the Audi lights though.
