Yeah I don't know if if humans are really the sweatiest animals we might have competition from horses. Note that both species are endurance species that survive by outlasting other animals when conflict arises. Not a coincidence.
CERI! That was the best thing to ever cross the air around me in compression waves which travelled down my auditory meatus to vibrate my tympanic membrane, to then be transferred across my malleus, incus and stapes, to then convert to fluid compression waves which bent the hair cells in my cochlea to be translated to electric signals transmitted down my CNVIII, interpreted by my grey matter and release copious dopamine! My parasympathetic nervous system was activated and a small quantity of fluid oozed from my lacrimal glands. Magical!
Ms. Ceri I have never before been so incredibly proud of a person I have absolutely no connection to, have never met, and have zero investment in. But that was an amazing and surprising gift you gave us. Many thanks!
There isn't a universal legal limit specifically for shipping loose nuts, BUT there are several regulations that have to be followed and limitations (i.e. the size of the box). Shipping carriers have weight restrictions, (i.e USPS's 70-pound limit for domestic shipments and UPS/FedEx 150-pound limit) but I don’t think there’s a set legal limit. SO, assuming a 70 pound weight limit (I’m going to use almonds for the nut type) and a 1.2 gram nut, the theoretical limit is 26,459 nuts. Math for those curious: 1 pound = 453.592 grams 70 pounds = 70 * 453.592 = 31,751.44 grams 1 almond = 1.2 grams. Number of almonds = 31,751.44 grams / 1.2 grams per almond ≈ 26,459 almonds.
But, one more thing! 😅 Grocery stores usually get their deliveries through company specific freight depending on their supplier. And that stuff is often on pallets! Bags of nuts on a pallet lifted by a pallet jack = sooooo many nuts. But that kind of scale is only available for stores that can move that kind of inventory. Our small local grocer gets bulk nuts in 20# boxes.
Also depends on how you consider shipping. I'm sure the largest amounts are from the farms to the processing plant, and that's probably loose, just filling hopper cars.
Aren't there regulations about how many loose nuts you can transport because they can spontaneously combust? I know flour certainly has to be transported super carefully for this reason
Large quantities of nuts, flour and all that can also be shipped in ~1000 kg big-bags, also called super sacks sometimes! An alternative to that is plastic lined cardboard boxes. Both of these fit on industrial wooden palettes and require specific stations to empty. As someone mentioned explosion protection too: big-bags may be metallized and grounded to keep dust being ignited by static. Source: I work in big food and this is how we do it
When you add this song to the album. Instead of saying the gibberish, just say "Seborrhea" (a common, chronic skin condition that causes flaky, greasy, and sometimes itchy skin.) It was fantastic, I immediately sent this episode to my husband to force him to watch it.
"It's not that I don't like you, it's just that I'm we...- So Sam, congratulations!" 10/10 segue Hank lol. Also, LOVE that song at the top of the episode XD You guys really know how to bring it!
Was not expecting that amazing song from Ceri, but it definitely made my day. Coincidentally, Hank’s cover of She’s an Angel by TMBG showed up on my feed yesterday.
Ceri, you are such an endearing human being. This podcast brings a lot of joy to me. Thank everyone involved for making it happen! I'm telling people about it, so I'm doing my part, I think
Hank - you def need to recruit Tuna into putting a downloadable playlist of all Scishow Tangents poems and songs together! PLEEEEASE! I've been loyally following since the Holy F**king Science days - pleeeeease do this ❤❤❤
It's several months later now, not only have i come back to this *multiple times* for Ceri's smash-hit cover. I've shown it to aAT LEASt a half dozen people on their accounts! My parents and co-workers either love yall, or are willing to humor my being a wild-person, but i honestly couldn't tell the difference. Doesn't matter, Andy thinks yall rule! Also, I hope the Microcosmos channel lives forever! Long live the abominably adorable tardigrades!
So picture the scene. My partner is asleep and I'm in the bathroom getting ready for bed, trying not to wake them up. I'm listening to my podcast, life's going great. Then Ceri starts singing and we get to the chorus and I'm falling over against the counter laughing so hard trying not to be too loud and wake up my beloved. I was CRYING. Well played Ceri. Well played.
OMG Ceri's song (and general cheerfulness) made my day! The artistry proves that Ceri is beyond "30 under 30" (though technically now = 30 yrs old)---Ceri is at the TOP of that list, IMO. This episode is beyond hilarious and entertaining. ❤ the Green Brothers, SciShow Team and specifically this Tangent's crew.
I was listening to this on Overcast, but had to come to the video just to watch Ceri’s song. I subscribe to both feeds & listen/watch depending on which queue it comes up in first.
I'm so extremely glad that I'm not the first person who came from another app to make sure ceri knows that she absolutely slayed with that song even if I'm two days late
I can't even listen to the original without thinking of the Ceri rendition. Had to stop Spotify just to come back and listen to this again. Would love to have that as a separate song. 😊
I listen to tangents on repeat regularly; I'm outside on my way to a store and as soon as the music started playing i realised, "oh, it's THAT one, that'll make me grin and possibly tear up in public" 😂
oh. my god. CERI - THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! I had to come from the podcast straight over here because I HAD TO SEE YOU SING THIS!! What I wasn't anticipating was the utter JOY EMANATING from Hank and Sam, omg I am dyyyyingggggg :D Y'all are awesome, much love! 😘😘😘
I would like to reach out my hand and say thank you 😂 When you want to laugh you put this show on! That was so awesome Sam and I made the same face during the song. ❤❤❤❤🎉
The absolutely UNHINGED discussion about grocery stores?! Now i wanna go to Missoula just for Food Farm, it seems like quite the experience! Also how do you get everything from just one place?? I go to at least 4 different stores regularly to get the foods i want!!
huh, so that's why in books sometimes they use "in a lather" when the character is stressed out or worried/angry. And I've seen it in reference to horses. The more you know! 🌠
Now that I'm caught up, I look forward to each new episode with anticipation. But oh my god Ceri I loved your song! Really hoping either you see the love in the comments or someone from the team shows you because you did an amazing job!
I think it's important to note that while the science bros were getting half naked, they were wearing linen against their skin, and wool jackets - not cotton or artificial fibers. Both wool and linen are known for their wicking and releasing of moisture properties - unlike cotton that tends to hold the moisture or artificial fibers that usually don't absorb the moisture at all.
From European perspective the idea of driving 30-40min for groceries is INSANE. I can see the back delivery entrance of my local grocery store from my apartment window, it's literally 100 meters away.
Ceri's song is absolutely up there with Sam's rendition of "Blue" and Hank's "radioactive" 😂❤ that was amazing
100% holy crap I love it!
I am angry that the guys didn't burst into applause.
@@muhmuhmonahan4919 Hank almost did, but this is the difference between true geeks and people being geeks because it is cool.

Yo, I need links for sam doing blue!?
Oh my god, I just heard the Rusted Root parody on my podcast app and IMMEDIATELY ran here to heap praise on Ceri. What a delight!
Same 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
SAME but I took a moment to share it with my mom and sister first. I haven’t been this tickled and delighted in ages.
CERI!!! You win Tangents forever, infinite Hank bucks for you!!! That was the greatest poem to date and your commitment to the bit is unmatched!!!
That was the best thing that has ever happened on this podcast, and it's not even remotely close.
infinite hank bucks would collapse the economy because the individual value of a single hank buck would be infinitely small
💯

Ceri, that song was AMAZING!! I have tears in my eyes. That needs to make it to itunes and youtube music.
Nothing has ever deserved my like more than that song...
CERI! You win Science Poem Forever!!! That song was fantastic. I was vibing right along with your two biggest fans (Hank and Sam).
The song was amazing

And this amazing comment is the extra credit.
A+++ comment!! 🤣🤣🤣
I read this in Hank's voice at his rate of speaking and it was perfectly fitting 🤣
We need a standalone version of that song. It actually slaps
That song is worthy of Weird Al, it's fantastic.

I'm just blown away by that song. You just made my day! I was sad and anxious, I am now cheerful and hopeful. Thank you
Eventually, there'll be enough science poem songs to have an album and I'll buy the hell out of that. You're all amazing.
Ceri's cover was absolutely amazing! Thank you for being brave enough to grace us with that gem!
