- Edward Sallow was born in 2226 near the Boneyard. His early years were marked by tragedy - raiders murdered his father when he was only two years old, forcing his mother to seek refuge with the Followers of the Apocalypse. A group dedicated to preservation, restoration and furtherment of knowledge. It was within the Followers' library that the seeds of his future were planted. As his mother toiled, cooking and cleaning, young Edward devoured the free education offered by them. Though a brilliant student, his success was driven only by his personal interest in subjects, and his arrogance quickly alienated his peers. The Followers preached enlightenment and peace, but to Edward, their mission was a naïve dream - one destined to fail in the harsh realities of the post-apocalyptic world, a belief that never went away. By the time he was twenty, Edward had become a budding anthropologist and linguist, as such he was sent on an expedition to study the dialects of the tribes living in the Grand Canyon, but he wasn’t alone, there was Bill Calhoun a fellow Follower and Joshua Graham, a Mormon Missionary from New Canaan. Despite having the best intentions, fate would lead Edward far from the path of peaceful study. During their journey, his party was captured by the Blackfoot, a weak, disorganized tribe on the verge of extinction. Where his companions saw hopelessness, Edward saw potential and in return for his parties freedom, he offered the Blackfoot more than just the secrets of language, he offered them survival through knowledge of war. He trained them in the use of firearms, taught them to make explosives, and drilled them in military tactics. It was here, as he stood over the bodies of his enemies, that Edward Sallow died and Caesar was born...

I've heard it's a bad idea to tempt the wrath of Caesar.
I did once, not wise.
I domed his ass, he ain’t all that.
Especially when he's trying to sleep
But I really like his outfit and power glove….. (pulls out bumper sword)
You should be fine. Just don't mention his headaches.
Alot of big talk for someone who can't block a .50 to the face
Lmao I guess you'd have to be a Sentry Bot or something similar then.
Bad luck for us fleshies out here.
neither a .22 really
Wisdom can’t take you far if you only have 4 Intelligence
28 years old and I JUST played this game through New Vegas, for the very first time. It was legendary and over 100 hours. Your content has been so much fun to deep dive ty for the videos!
I'm very happy you like it!!!

It was always fascinating to me that Kimball's greatest enemy was also his greatest admirer, both men are extremely similar
Not every story needs to be some earth-shattering niche tidbit of info, it can even be a story we already know..
But sometimes a simple story, well told, is still very, very enjoyable. A story such as this. Thank you Syn.
I love that Caesar suffers a very similar condition to the historical figure. Its just such a good tie in
Minus a dagger to the back
@glassofmilk3474 and front, and side. But that's the death of the man, not his living conditions ._.
Side note, he fought back with a metal peice about the size of a ball point pen, and did do some damage. He didn't go down meekly despite having had a seizure not long before lol
I always on every playthrough, do everything to foil Caesars plan before meeting him to angry him. Thank you, for awesome videos Synonymous!
There is one thing you got wrong. The Legion is not against technology, they are against reliance on technology. They utilize advanced technology but only for those worthy or if absolutely necessary.
True, Caesar at the end of the day is extremely focused on using the skills that his slaves have that will not fail with repetition, but his is also very meritocratic.
The Son of Mars himself. Crazy what reading some books and a crazy amount of ambition can get you. Caesar is an example of it!

You missed the point of the fallout series as it is dark satirical fall of our society in a divergent time lines fall.
Edward Sallow in fallout has less intelligence then snuffles the mole rat being a larping mimicry of Julius Caesar.
NCR is worse as they make people pay excessive taxes for nothing to so water & baramin barons can make profit.
Satirical take on egalitarianism & how it effectively achieves nothing.
Mr: house is a hybrid regime of libertarian & Autocratic policies.
very old school America Business, Hong Kong-Singapore & former British markets before the end of the British empire.
An effective system but it has it's seedy underbelly.
Of the 3 main factions I pick house & Yes; Yes man exists but that is either anarchy or Cyberocracy if you don't hamper Yes mans power to eventually become 'No man'. as he ''make some changes'' after a shut down reboot.
Yes man is really the followers of the apocalypse.
(humanitarians) who trust humans so little they put a yes man a machine in power being 'secular anarchistic socialists'.
You got enjoys their duality at least though not a wise choice.
Mr. House is the best chance for humanities development even if far from perfect.
He's a gamble but better a chance with change then nothing at all in stagnation?

*Tenet Pax Romana*
(27BC - 180AD)
At the core of everything the Legion does is a higher ideals Much Like Real Roman's
Totalitarian, unified, fortified.
We will achieve this through the conquering of other tribal forces,
Make No Mistake in thinking that entities such as the NCR are above a tribal force.
They are as tribal as any other entity.
Operating under a single name or banner.
When one joins The Legions they are not merely pledging themselves to pay-checks and a good time.
Once these forces are conquered they are assimilated into the Legion,
Tossing away any bad parts of old culture and absorbing the good parts into the Legion. A good example of this
Purge-and-addition tactic is the Hangdogs tribe. We took from them the ability to tame wild hounds.
and nurture future generations of tamed dogs and whatever wasn’t needed has been tossed away.
The genetic successors of that tribe now carry the banner of Caesar and fight in his name.
This is the process under which Pax Romana will see its final victory.
Unified. is one of the, if not the most important,
Tenet of Pax Romana.
Without unification we will not succeed,
The infighting of old tribes and organizations ceases when
You come under the banner of Caesar.
Definitely been waiting for this video. It's a good day when you release them
I never paid much attention to the little video of Victor finding the Courier buried.... but if he really dug us out of the dirt one tablespoon at a time like that it's even more miraculous the player survived lol
More grade A content from Synonymous~
You know, given how hard his mother worked for his sake, you'd think Eddie the skirt boy would've had more respect for women.
If the Legion was to return (I'd imagine as small faction), it would be cool if they were led by a man named "Caesarion" who like his namesake is the (self-proclaimed, though likely) son of Caesar.
Caesar is kinda old for having a son
Or Marcus Antonius or Octavian or Augustus or something like that
I always liked the idea of some high-tier dude in the east finding the books Edward used to get his idea, and then either in realizing the grift or wanting to push the ideals further, used the time of silence from the West to consolidate power as some new facet of Legion thought. Depending on how this goes, a name like Caesar Augustus for a more serious take... or perhaps something like Caligula or one of the other slew of bad Roman dictators as a name as a direct nod at the absurdity of it, and turning the mad dream Edward had into his own devices, because something something War Never Changes.
I'm sure there would be some other guy who was also Follower-educated and could subscribe to his extremely Machiavellian ideals. If the courier couldn't join him, perhaps someone like how I described could become the "Augustus" his empire needs within the civilian zones of the empire.
@@wiktorcybulski3172 doesn't have to be his actual son. "Self-proclaimed" also works

Well to be honest The Legion from the start had a fatal flaw that like any great Empire it relies on 1 to make things happen , and that 1 guy doesnt live forever ... like Lex Luthor said it better "even the best of us cant compete with time ... and death" (Justice League - Lex Luthor talking with Amazo about evolution) What Edward Sallow wanted for the Mohave was a Legacy forged by principles but ...as time goes on as we seen with Roman Empire it collapsed because of Greed ....and Odoacer the first barbarian King of Italy...

Love your content...just one complaint. Make the videos longer👌
When we going to get a mega cut of all these lore videos
I always thought Edward was delusional thinking about how Roman culture could help rebuild and civilize the wasteland I almost wish he never found any pre war books based on Roman history on his expedition to the Grand Canyon and I always wondered if the followers of the apocalypse were responsible for the turning Edward into a warlord. I know they pacifists but if they just understood how violent many survivors were such as slavers, raiders and hostile tribes like the Blackfoot or white legs they would refuse to reason with them or to make them civilized.
Hmmm. No pretty sure Edward became a warlord all on his own. He was sent to study their languages because he was good at it, not "civilise" them. He also read those books in the Follower's library well before that expedition. I'd watch the opening again and listen closer, he soundly rejected the philosophy of the Follower's since the beginning they can hardly be blamed for how he chose to be.
Patrolling the Mojave makes me wish for a nuclear winter 😂
Love how he used the MTG Caeser art
Caesar when his legionnaires get domed by my anti-material rifle: 👁️👄👁️
So he’s basically like the guy from Supranos that was obsessed with Gladiator, except he was in charge
The legion is my favorite faction in fallout.
Not a fan of them personally, but they add such a unique part of the story.
Great video
I know everyone gave the fallout show some flak over the fate of the NCR, but Caesar only proves how right he was about them when even he explains how their inevitable end will come, only he wasn't the one to hasten it when all it took was an outside source to do the dead, all they needed was access to the very thing that wiped out the country that came before them whether it be by couriers, vault tec, and of course the enclave should they regain access to them.
Perfect timing
What a great last line!

Miss those long form videos mannn
He is the most succesful leader of the Fallout groups. Building an Empire in a short time and becoming -maybe- the biggest army of the whole franchise. And having the best disicipline through his Legion.....
However, he is dumb.
I always rock the the black ops right leg destroyers left and I forget the the exact name of the right arm piece but it's a marine combat armor piece with the zealots upgrade on it you can buy in the nucleus that gives another 10% movement speed and and top it all off with Oswald's tophat🎩 which gives you a total of +40% movement speed try it it's fun to take jet with a laser weapon and run around at high speed but watch the slow mo laser show
I'm glad someone still putting out fallout content it felt like everything fell off as soon as the show's hype died
I do so enjoy Caesar's character. If it wasn't for the slavery, rampant sexism and lack of technological embrace I'd have likely gone with him
you mentioned the only things that make him unique
@@Alphatheseeker i know, and i want him to keep those traits. We can enjoy characters for what they are without agreeing with them. I'd never side with him, but i respect his ideals of strength and conquest
@@gamerguy756 That's because he believe in strength and conquest that he is for slavery and sexism ...
There's probably a parallel universe in Fallout where Edward wasn't captured by tribesmen and instead lives a succesful life with the Followers of the Apocalypse, bringing them a new golden era.
@@kotzpenner true, making them more pro active with how they help people. As they are now, the Followers are rather passive, waiting for problems to hit them rather than seeking them out and preventing them. I could see him doing that

I know it’s been years, Fallout 3 is old and it was said a million times the combat system sux except in the Vats. But can anyone explain me one thing? I have noticed it multiple times when there’s a couple enemies in front of you, one next to each other. You aim at one and a bullet goes at a second one and hits him. Feels like some weird broken auto-aim. Like if the game decided where the bullet should go disregarding your aiming.
Ngl if I was in the Fallout universe I would have done what Caesar expect I would give women rights and once a legionary had served their time in army they would be granted citizenship and a plot of land
So closer to actual Rome than his set up. But still doomed.
Gee thanks, now I need to bust out my 360 to play new vegas.
I always thought of my own courier as Augustus and Caesars heir. Hes trying to create his vision of crossing the rubicon but what he doesnt realize is that once he dies he needs an octavian. An heir that is chosen because of their ability and potential. After he wins his "civil war" hell die. Either by tumor or scheming and the courier will be the perfect unexpected heir and after beating their marc antony, maybe Lanius, hell realize the Pax Romana Caesar dreamed of.
I havent heard a whole lot about the lore of schools in the franchise. please educate me oh knowledgable one.
The fact that Caesar's video is all of 40 seconds longer than "Mr Yesterday" feels disrespectful
