Did you know in the early parts of the development of Fallout 3, Liberty Prime was supposed to be larger than seen in-game, and the player character was going to ride inside of its head during the final battle. Pretty cool stuff!
Right before he was hit his warning of the orbital strike is the only thing that saved my life I had to run away and was left with one bar of health while literally watching the whole thing unfold behind my character. One of my most cinematic moments in a fallout game for me
You talking about Anchorage remembered me of how cool a Fallout Alaska would be. Yao Guai Polar Bears, radiation blizzards, and Chinese and American ghouls still fighting over Anchorage are just a few things that come to mind! Edit: fur covered Super Mutants nicknamed "Nantinaq" and fur covered Deathclaws nicknamed "Urayuli" Edit 2: my explanation on how Chinese soldiers are still in Alaska: it is possible for a few divisions to survive in Alaska for the 9 months between the end of the Alaska occupation and the Great War (there have been cases of Japanese soldiers who were still fighting 27 years or so after WW2). What helps these soldiers would be America focuses on the Chinese mainland as the US government would probably just simply believe they'd starve or freeze to death and they'd probably rather focuses on the big stuff and just lie to public about this small minor detail - I'd also think the president and the Enclave wouldn't care too much given their knowledge of the bombs. After the war, I'd imagine they'd probably use the situation to take over small towns so they can bolster their forces (the US troops still in Alaska would probably do the same). I don't think the conflict would start right away but build up over years and possibly decades as they become their own factions that still hold many of values of each country along with the mutual dislike for one another. Anchorage would become a battle ground again due to the supplies still stored their as well as it being a good stronghold in the region.
the chinese and americans still fighting wouldnt make sense, I believe they will form a minor faction just like the skinless ghouls from the divide who were previously members of the NCR and the Legion
@@Cthulhuwarlord either they don't realise every country has fallen (so basically blind patriotism with the added mental degradation of being a ghoul) or they've kinda become their own fictions now.
@@Cthulhuwarlord 9 months which sounds unrealistic but there were Japanese holdouts 29 years after WW2. And tbh I can see the Fallout US government lying about how many Chinese forces are still in Alaska. Alternatively, they could be what remains of a second invasion and it adds to the mystery of who dropped the bombs because why would China drop the bombs when they're doing an invasion. Tbh I think it would be cool because we'd like to talk to actual pre-war soldiers who fought at Anchorage (rather than a simulation).
@@WidSilsonBut that implies they would've had the technology or resources to get it up and running. Along with that, there's no way their tiny group could maintain such a massive piece of technology.
Everytime i play FO3 it legit brings me to tears seeing LP sacrifice himself. The most patriotic icon america ever built in that universe and it went out like a fucking badass. Glad his story didnt end and they managed to repair him.

Liberty prime reminds me of the Yamato and Bismarck class war ships. Both were made to destroy the ships of the allies. Bismarck got a kill before being sunk, and the Yamato had gotten damage in a battle near Australia. Only for the Yamato to be in port only to be sunk by dive bombers.
Imagine how many homes or other weapons systems you could power with all that energy. I'm pretty-sure the Prydwen uses the same thing, and gives you far more options. LP is more of a flex to anyone with designs on the Commonwealth - a way of saying 'this is just how much power we have - wanna fight about it?'
Has anyone been able to identify the voice actor for Liberty Prime? The Fandom Wiki says that it wasn't credited in either Fallout 3 or 4 and it's not mentioned on IMDB.
A name and purpose so utterly awesome, I can't help but shutter at the mere thought of this massive automaton marching down the streets towards me. Imagine this bot battling some new, never before seen wasteland mutant of similar size and it ending up in a Pacific Rim-esque beat down? If this guy doesn't make another appearance in Fallout 5, even if it's just a cameo or DLC, I'm fully losing faith in any AAA studio.

Pity the Brotherhood didn’t spend those resources on something like restoring the tanks and AFVs scattered around America. It would be cool to see Liberty Prime converted into something like either a giant suit of power armor or robo-brain (almost like a Warhammer 40k Dreadnought). I feel like cutting out all the processing needs for an AI would lessen power needs quite a bit.
Not by as much as you'd think, especially with something of this size. It would need some kind of AI systems regardless because no human brain would be able to process all the information needed to operate Liberty Prime

Liberty Prime is a great posterchild of a problem Fallout 4 had. And that's it didn't create it's own identity, it just aped ideas from Fallout 3. Despite being in a different part of the country, you get the same raiders, the same mutated life forms, the same super mutants (despite being created by the Institute so they should NOT be the same as SMs we've seen in the past). Same Fallout 3 style ghouls. It felt so hollow. There was nothing to discover. Nothing really to see or wonder at. Fallout 1 and 2 had grotesque mutants. 3 had their version of Centaurs. 4... I can only imagine the design process started and ended with "MAKE MOSQUITO BUT BIG! AN PITBULL TOO!" And that kind of uninspired thinking is with the Brotherhood too. Sure, the Prydwynn is cool looking and all, but why is Liberty Prime with it? Of all the places in the ruined United States they could bring it, it just so happens to be here? You really think assault drops of Brotherhood Knights wouldn't be able to take out The Institute? The only reason they've survived at all is because they're covert. You don't need a giant siege robot. You need strike teams.
Magic the Gathering has a Fallout Set, and you happened to have a TON of the art for several of those cards in this video. Did you do this on purpose, by any chance?
It will never cease to amaze and disappoint me how many Fallout fans take Liberty Prime at face value, completely missing the point that it is and always has been very intentional political commentary on American exceptionalism
Kinda sorta off topic. Computing technology in the fallout universe is in a sense analog. Bots are programmed with specific commands, which is actually a flaw in the case of overriding a machine’s main purpose. What’s stopping Prime from being remotely targeted by malicious software
The fact that Prime was a highly secretive military project done with the collaboration of several major corporations, so protecting his computer systems from external interference would be a priority. Especially with RobCo being one of the two major players, since they primarily work with computers and AI systems
always appear to me that fallout's world is doom to a slow death they just dont have a enough of the necessary resources to restart civilization to the re-war standard and then better to get off the polluted and resource poor earth.

That would be cool if bethesda hired the guy who made the cars of the frontier, he knows how to do things that don't move wanky on the engine.
Honestly I think more people would have liked 3 if they went down that route I’m surprised that a mod for it hasn’t been made yet honestly 🤔
