Benny's suit has extra comedy value since most NPC's don't react to you wearing it, but do say stuff like "someone wearing a stupid suit like that was asking for trouble"
Naughty Nightware, Roving Trader Gear, Follower's Lab Coat, and the Sheriff's Duster were crucial until I maxed out the skills they boosted for my builds.
I'm playing New Vegas for the first time and I don't even know where I got the naughty nightwear, all I know is that it helped me a lot until I didn't need it anymore and even then I kept it in my inventory because I liked wearing it with the 1st Recon beret when I was using sniper because of the +1 Luck effect
I got the roving trade gear from Malcon, I didn't mind killing him after he appeared exactly when the powder gangers were attacking me, even more so after I saw that his clothes would give me +10 Barter using the full set
Pre war outfits are great. Throw one on, go to a dead money vending machine, sell it, and now you permanently have that plus one agility no matter what you're wearing. And it stacks.
I’d recently tested the limits of this on my recent Hardcore run and I was able to get a LUDICROUS AMOUNT OF AGILITY by turning in worn Pre-War clothing (Grimy/Dirty/pristine) after getting every -AGI Chem addiction (including -2 AGI from Ultrajet, which is PERMANENT no matter what; added up to -8 AGI), +800 Rads (-2 AGI; became -10 w/ 800 Rads), +800 Thirst (-2 AGI; -12 AGI), and the negative side-effect of Hoarder (-1 AGI and all 6 other SPECIAL Stats while under 160lbs of Carry Weight; -13 AGI from a base 4 AGI) By the time I finished turning in Pre-War clothing to the Vending Machine in the Abandoned BOS Bunker…I had about +21 AGI. It made reloading EXTREMELY FAST, firing a bit faster, and even jamming taking just under a second or two faster! It’s probably the best glitch in the entire game that isn’t the “stacked” weapons/apparel that you can sell and buy back then add to your “stack” for Free** **if you have a Broken weapon @ 0 CND & worth 0 caps, you can sell it then rebuy it to gain the same weapon as it in better condition…which you then sell back to the vendor, buy your broken one again and you’ll notice it’s in 100% condition [which means it’s “stacked” now]…so now buy back your broken weapon and you’ll have both! Unless you wait around or sleep outside around Goodsprings, it’s very likely he’ll get merked by hostile NPCs, animals/insects/abominations, or Legion/NCR Hit Squads within the same cell as you 😒 I’ve had him run into me CONSISTENTLY on PS3 across 12 save files (or characters I’ve made over the past 14 years), but on the Series X version? Probably only 1/4 of the characters I’ve played. I’m inclined to think that it’s something to do with the wacky and relatively undocumented wacky quirks of the Series S/X’s emulation. I have ALWAYS ran into those two people fighting over the Blue Star Bottle Caps in front of Nelson, which I still find strange since Malcolm Holmes is unpredictable
@@yeez13I played on xbox 360 and now on xbox 1 x and he’s shown up every time across the 20 or 30 characters I’ve made, no issue. I’ve also always taken the time to clear out goodsprings or at least be in the general area so maybe that has something to do with it
Interesting that he doesn't consider how easy to get the clothing is something like businesswear is so great because it's +5 speech and extremely easy to get at the start of the game
I use the trader's outfit to boost barter until I hit Vegas and kill Benny, then I use his suit until I go to Dead Money where I switch it out for Vera's outfit. Other than that I don't normally carry clothes around unless I'm going with a light armor build and have already gotten jury rigging. Barter is the only skill I wear special clothes for since almost all barter checks take place in safe areas. There are a couple of holovenders in Dead Money that can have ghost people in the area.
23:21 Sheriffs outfit is always one of my first pick ups, crucial difference is that it comes with a hat and a star, making it a lot better than the bounty hunter duster
I literally watched your various armour tier lists a few hours ago and wondered if you had a clothing tier list. You didn't. Oh well. Then I sit down now and this pops up on my home page!
DT or DR should not be a factor in this ranking. It's clothing. Of course you're going to have actual armor for defence. Relevant factors should include how soon/easy it is to get and how good it looks.
Field hand, prospector, settler and caravaneer is a nice way to earn money as they are incredibly light (1.5 weight) and value 180 each. If you do Run Goodsprings Run that's a nice way to boost your caps at the start of the game, as well as slaughtering Sloan.
The high weight on jasons blight outfit could be explained by some sort of lead or other dense material providing nuetron attenuation for the rad resist effect.
I find it hard to rank the clothing since any of them becom viable “armor” (for looks-maxing at least) once you’ve gotten 2x Ranks of Toughness and the [Sub-Dermal Armor] Implant from the New Vegas Medical Clinic for 8K Caps…which is honestly not much if you know what you’re doing 🤷🏽♂️ From those combined, that’s a total of +10 DT inherently on your character. It makes ANY clothing worth wearing just because since if you’re actually going to get into a fight…there’s always the trifecta of Slasher/ Med-X/ Battle Brew (for 75% DR…which is more of a benefit than DT, to be frank) At that point…you’re more or less just going by what you like to wear/look at on your character. In that case? Destroyed Collar + Chained or Exposed [“Dancer”] Outfit(s) + Party Hat (or Eulogy Jones’s Hat) become my S-Tier 👍🏽 F-Tier would be anything that looks terrible on a character of any Gender
