I attended this show at Madison Square Garden and I think this may have been her best tour ever. The disco ball entrance was epic and visually stunning. So much love for her after a horseback riding accident, she incorporated that into her show. I Feel Love is a cover of a Donna Summer hit but that sentiment made the live audience feel like she was expressing her gratitude .
This and her MDNA tour entrance are high up there in my list. I feel though the MDNA tour opening is more dramatic, has a bit more layer of symbolism and messaging. Her image of a militant Black Madonna trying to atone for her “sins” inside a confessional box, but ultimately succumbing to the temptations of the demonic gargoyles taunting her outside the cathedral despite the chanting and prayers of “monks”. Then she picks her AK-47 and smashes the glass enclosure symbolizing breaking barriers, and she menacingly points her weapon seeking out her “demons”. Of course, Confessions has a simpler theme that fits the opening of that magical giant disco ball-she just wants to take her audience on a joyful dance odessey with her music and choreo. She succeeded in both instances to convey her themes.
Future lovers is a Madonna track that samples the Donna Summer song I Feel Love. I Feel Love is a legendary song and was I believe the first song to be fully electronic with no instruments. My mum told me stories about how my Nan banned her from playing it in the house due to that.
But it's Donna Summer's 1977 song. Before I Feel Love, most disco songs were accompanied by an acoustic orchestra. Unlike many disco music songs of the time, I Feel Love was created by first composing the background and the bass line and then the melody, whose key was modulated at regular intervals, together with Donna Summer's voice. The song, accompanied by a four-quarter beat and progressive bass lines, was composed by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte using a Moog synthesizer. The track's production style was soon imitated by other musicians. The South Tyrolean composer, G. Moroder, wanted to create a song never heard before, and declared: "We wanted to create a futuristic song" (is it a coincidence that Ciccone mixed it with Future-Lovers?) "we decided that it had to be done with a synthesizer". According to Forbes, I Feel Love is the twenty-second best disco song ever. It was also placed first in Billboard's ranking of the best disco songs of all time drawn up in 2016. In 2021 Rolling Stone included it in its famous list of the 500 best songs of all time. I Feel Love is one of the songs included in the United States Library of Congress. In 1977, while talking to David Bowie, the British composer Brian Eno defined it as «the sound of the future» and declared that it would change club music in the following 15 years.... And it seems to me he understood everything, given that 47 years afterwards, at least here in Italy, there are many brands who use it in their advertising spots. Béyonce also included it in her 2022 album Renaissance. Madonna and her nose are not wrong...
The choreography being THAT easy, what is her excuse for not singing live? Why did she choose to record a Donna Summer song for her album if she's unable to perform it live? I can't understand why people like such a mediocre tour.
Madonna number one ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

That disco ball was mesmerizing! I saw it in LA. The entire show was visually stunning. I agree, it is overall my favorite show - that I’ve been to.

This was an amazing tour.
One of the best live concert intro in history. PERIOD! Donna Summer/Madonna...pity these two were not able to duet when Donna was alive.

It doesn't just "sample" the song. It's literally the same song, with the same structure and the same lyrics, plus a few new stanzas.
I never forget that entrance…
Ce show et cette intro sont incroyables !
Perfection 🤩
Ifeel looooooove 😍
If you get a chance, watch the entire tour it will blow your mind, in a good way :)
