In my family we would play a custom game that would wreak havoc and created a lot great memories playing the game with my mom: walking bombs. It came about one day when she was bored and was like "Okay, here's the plan. Bombs can walk this time, let's see how that works out!" and it struck ever since.

I have had Star Wars Stratego since I was young, it’s one of my favorite games of all time. At some point my neighbors and I discovered that “random stratego” is actually super fun. Sometimes something dumb happens like the flag in the front row but adapting to the situation you get randomly is super fun and hilarious
@@thewolface2339 You put all the pieces face down and then starting in a corner pick random pieces and put them down in order of picking. Sometimes hilarious things happen like your flag in the front row and you have to be very adaptable to what you get.
Stratego is a game of information, if a scout finds the enemy marshal, and I'm moving more pieces up to the marshal, is that the spy? is it bait? you found a bomb? is it a fence around the flag/apple, or is it a distraction? the multi-attack and apple direct strike ability just ruin it and give out way too much information too easily.

Love seeing all of these Stratego reboots! An older one I would love to see a review of is Conquest Stratego, it has been one of my favorites for a few years!
Stratego is a great introductory wargame (along with Battleship) for people who would struggle with (or don't have the attention span to learn) more complicated games.
My brother and I played a Lord of the Rings themed Stratego quite frequently when we were kids. It's hard to remember everything about it but I think it had a lot of those "these pieces get special abilities" about it and special ways to go about playing it. It's been years and there's a chance we were younger and doing it wrong so I can't speak for how good the extra rules were, but there were quite a few of them if I remember correctly. Perhaps worth checking out?
I had a version of stratego growing up that was like red knights and dragons verses blue knights and dragons it was like a mythical theme but anyway I liked that one cause every number had a special ability not everyone was great but it was something that made the game ever so slightly more entertaining
That was my favorite version of Stratego, the one I got is a more Napoleonic era European soldier style. Not quite the same fun vibe to me, but probably just being nostalgic lol
I just got mine off Amazon today. I’m almost reedy to play, I just need to buy the add-on Spy, Miner and Bomb packs and I’ll be ready to go. Thanks Ubisoft for getting your dirty fingers in my boardgame.
Based on some of what was said in this video, it sounds like he might prefer the fire and ice version, it's the version I played as a kid and all the pieces (besides traps and the flag) have special abilities of some sort
I have a Stratego Fire & Ice version with opposing armoes of fantasy style warriors like mages and knights and dragons. Pretty badass. Each character has special abilities you can use. Scouts and Dwarves (2 and 3) are the same, and the Spy is a Dragon Slayer
This version is different than the stratego I remember. 10 is a 1. Ranks only go to 9. Scout is an “S”. Miners are 8’s. Attacking person wins if both pieces are the same.
I had this game (the old version) as a tween in the early 1960's. Mine has wood pieces that were painted. I think silver was on Blue pieces and gold was on the Red ones. I was quite good and would make up battle plans on graph paper. Still have this along with my other board games; Risk, Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Sorry and chess, checkers and backgammon in the attic, or was it the cellar? This current version is so disappointing aesthetically. Check out the wood pieces on eBay.
I don't know how frequently you read the comments under your videos but I might have a suggestion for a board game: Vinci. It's a kinda weird hybrid between Risk, Catan and Civilization with no dice involved, decently short playtime (usually less than 1 hour) and it's pretty engaging.
Are you sure that when you use the Apple to turn over one of your opponents pieces if it was a soldier and it reviewed a bomb that bomb is removed because I thought bombs don’t get removed if landed on only by miners also you sure the piece goes back to their control if it survives anyways I thought it was a interesting edition to this game I was hoping also they added a few more game moves I think they could have added the one move quickness so it disguises the 2s but other then that cool twist on the special rules and I assume the multiple attacks only go vertical or horizontal right ?
The game is still played exactly the same. But yes, they changed it so that big numbers are more powerful. They did that a long time ago. 2s are Scouts, for example, and Miners are 3
They probably did it around Ezio because he’s still pretty much the symbol of the franchise and its most iconic character, even though he hasn’t been in the games for a while.
There's actually a more complicated Ice and Fire (not George R.R. Martin related lol) Stratego that's ostensibly more enjoyable than the classic and this one. The artwork on the pieces is vibrant, the board is higher quality, and each of the pieces have unique powers as compared to this one. It adds some of the extra (deceptive) complexity of chess to the game, so it might satisy the 'maybe too simple' observation you made
The modern space-themed version is the most fun. here is the best strategy that will change the wya you think strategy should be played. ttps://ruclips.net/video/ssYzW4FtUdc/видео.html
What the heck Why the Assassins Creed edition and not just stratego? That’s like reviewing Harry Potter monopoly instead of just monopoly, it would make it kind of harder to learn the regular monopoly because all the rules have different names
In my family we would play a custom game that would wreak havoc and created a lot great memories playing the game with my mom: walking bombs. It came about one day when she was bored and was like "Okay, here's the plan. Bombs can walk this time, let's see how that works out!" and it struck ever since.
Stratego legends had a few bombs that could walk, every single piece had a unique ability and I loved it. Impossible to get or find anymore though.

I agree. It looks like Statego for people who don't like Stratego.
I feel that it's balanced in that it still dies if it's a bomb, and that it's a 6. Lots of things can kill it, and it only reveals 2 pieces

9:19 for a purrifying attack on ProZD
Aww, look at Sophie! Being cute! Randomly attacking ProZD!
Some bot stole your comment :(
ProZD: Heeeey stop doing that!
Sophie: No.
Perfectly cut screams 9:20

Lol the cat attack at 9:20 haha
Thats when the real ProZD died. Everything after that is fake
Stratego is Chess mixed with battleships

I think they reordered the numbers so that 10 is the most powerful a while back for the revised edition as it makes more sense
About 10-15 years ago they flipped the numbers of the pieces so higher is better.
One became ten,
Two became nine,
Three became eight,
etc.
Would love to hear Sophie's board game reviews.
I used to always play Transformers Stratego as a kid, never actually played any others
YOOOOOO
i haven't seen/heard about stratego in forever!
Best way to play Stratego is to turn all the pieces around so you see your opponent's pieces but not your own.
Can't wait to see your work in god of war Ragnarok
Real shit?
Dude I remember playing stratego with my dad. Good times
One of my favorite board games!!
Finally!! A new stratego!! Stratego my favorite. And my favorite video game as well! Perfection.

This video should have been called Sophie reviews ProZD.
I don’t know why it said mountains in the book, because in the original game the things are lakes
Sophie is trying to explain the game hence why she is trying to chew something lol.

Wait… in original Stratego the lower number rank is more powerful. So a 2 (General?) is more powerful than a 6 (Sergeant?)
The game is still played exactly the same. But yes, they changed it so that big numbers are more powerful. They did that a long time ago. 2s are Scouts, for example, and Miners are 3

ProZD: "Okay I feel attacked right now."
9:17 Sophie attack!!!!
ok this is a good game I can understand
On the subject of Assassin's Creed board games, are you aware of PureArts Orlog Set?
yes
These games are meant for Aunts and Uncles to buy for their nephews. The components and graphics and fidelity to theme don't really matter!
They probably did it around Ezio because he’s still pretty much the symbol of the franchise and its most iconic character, even though he hasn’t been in the games for a while.

Stratego, still as boring as it was back in 1979.
It's from late 1800s Japan, so standards were a little different.
...Why am I early
If you love seeing the words Assassin's Creed on a cover I doubt you have the mental capacity to understand Stratego anyway.
