Stephanie, I came across your youtube channel while searching for the perfect sprinkle cake for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday. Aside from the fact that baking terrifies me, your calm, reassuring, step by step instructions pulled me in and I decided to take you into the kitchen and have us make this cake together. We did it! I am so proud of myself and I owe it all to you guiding me through this process (the egg whites step made me a little nervous but it turned out just fine). My cakes are chilling in the fridge tonight and I will attempt the frosting tomorrow. I am hooked and I can't wait to keep baking with you. A great big thank you, Stephanie!!!!

I tested a recipe from this channel that was awesome, so now I’m working my way down the recipe list, starting with classics like this cake and Omg!!! This cake was delicious and soft and moist. Didn’t dome, edges didn’t burn.
I set my timer for 17 mins and watched it, 18 mins and they both were done. I did use a scale to measure but I used a 9 in cake round so my cake wasn’t as tall. Milk bar’s birthday cake has nothing on this. I’m officially baking all my daughters birthday treats with your recipes. Keep up the great work.

yes! I edited my comment because my daughter said she didn't appreciate the mix of fennel and cream cheese heheheh. I love those seeds too much I think!!!

Hi, I made this cake recipe but changed it a bit my self added strawberrys instead of jam and I put cake cream for the filling and wiped cream for the top so it isn't that heavy and everyone really liked it thank you for sharing if enyone wants to try it you should and add strawberrys as well 😊😊😄😄

Another beautiful result!! I would like to make this for my sister's upcoming birthday using a 10-cup bundt pan and still include the jelly in the center. Do you think that would work? Hey Steph, I love all your videos, please keep exposing us to new amazing recipes...I just wanna ask though, what do i do if i wanna make a bigger cake and still get the same taste and texture as yours and without having to mix the batter more than once?? That is a difficult question to answer as it depends on what type of cake you want. You could use a chiffon cake, pound cake, carrot cake, butter cake, fruit cake, even a genoise.

I do have a couple of questions for you if y could be kind enough to answer please.
1. If I do not have 2 baking tins, could I bake in a single tin and then slice in between for two separate pieces?
2. How much ahead of time should I get the cake out of the refrigerator to beging frosting it?

Yes you can use 1 pan so long as it’s deep enough. Baking time will be longer so you will need to check it with a toothpick. You should frost immediately after removing it from the refrigerator.

Hi Stephanie, I wanted to make this cake in double the size for my daughter's 1st birthday. Is it OK to double the recipe and use a 10" cake pan instead? Your website taught me to bake, thanks a lot for your wonderful failure-proof recipes! :-)

Magdalena Rodriguez plain flour or all purpose flour would be fine too

You could use all purpose flour, although the cake won't be quite as tender.
