Hi Chris, another great video. Had mine delivered last week and found this very useful indeed. Looking forward to seeing how you set up your fish finder. Keep up the great videos mate.
Interesting to see how the teeth in the drive wear over time in comparrison to the mirage hobie drive given the slight difference in construction. There seems like a lot of contact points on this drive compared to the hobie. Great vid!
Chris, this os an AMAZING intro to your kayak... You've kept me hooked (and thats not a pun 😂) Im already budgeting for one of these... have wanted a kayak for YEARS but my hand injury stops me being able to paddle one. Petal drive looks brilliant
Thanks very much, I’m glad you found it useful. The flipper drive system is awesome it’s much easier than padaling full stop. It’s also very stable and the ride is very dry. Chris
Can't wait I've bought my first kyak last week a flame/yellow galaxy sturgeon kyak saved like mad I've seen some of your vids & a guy called nico I'm in North Ayrshire Scotland had day fishing boats most of my days but seeing the fun and freedom & fishing you guys do I was hooked can't wait if you don't mind I'll reach out for advice as I'm a new to this cracking video cheers mate 👏👍
Hope you like it as much as I do. I haven’t made any holes for my fish finder. I keep the battery in a waterproof box behind the seat. I’m doing a fishing set up vid in a week or two. 👍
Evening Chris, Hope you and the family all well, Hit by the storm here in Jersey but all ok. Did get the kayak thanks again. Did you do a video on how to set up the fish finder? As if you're not busy enough 😂. Have a great weekend.
Hey mate how you doing? We just got torrential rain rather than the high winds up here from Cairan. I’m sure I have on one of my vids but I’m buggered if I can remember which one! It’s super easy to be fair. You might need to fashion a bracket of some sort depending on the make of transducer but it’s only a 20 minute job to fit if that. I have my battery battery in the box behind my seat so just run the power cable to there. 👍🎣
I’m about to purchase one based on seeing how great yours looks and how it performs in your videos. I presume your one hundred per cent pleased with your purchase?
Great video buddy, very interested to hear your opinion on it after a trip or two. Its fish ability being hands free. It’s stability, and how efficient you think the pedal drive is. Do you know if galaxy have after sales for pedal drive parts? Looking forward to seeing your first trip on it. Tight lines mate👍
I’ve actually had it a couple of months it’s just taken me ages to get round to editing it 😂. I’ve used it in my last three vids and I absolutely love it. I seriously can’t fault it 👍
@@onthedropfishing i just looked again at your last couple of vids, I can’t believe I didn’t even notice you pedalling mate, Certainly looks impressive on the water. Your right tho this could be a very worthy alternative to the Hobie. I was lucky enough to find a used Hobie Outback even though I think it’s amazing the cost of a new one is a bit extreme unless I had money to burn. As always mate keep up the good work👍
@@PiscatorUK-Fishing yeah, I think it’s the only flipper driven alternative to the Hobie really, I can’t think of another one off the top of my head. I would’ve had a Hobie if I had the budget, a few friends have them and they’re awesome, but at less than half the price you can’t complain.
Hi Martin, see you went for orange? That’s a lush colour. Much nicer in the flesh isn’t it? I rinse thoroughly in fresh water after every trip and apply a tiny amount of marine grease every month or so and that’s it for me. Enjoy your new ride 👍🎣
What do you think of this sturgeon now you have e had it a few mths, I'm looking at using my first kayak for fishing and it's either the sturgeon or the feel free mokken v2, what's your opinion pls ?
I really like it Steven, I’ve been out in some pretty snotty weather, and it’s very very stable with the seat in the lowest position. Remember though what’s stable for one person might not be for another- it’s a bit like dancing, some people can and some people can’t. If you’re loose enough and able to work with the kayak (rather than tense and fighting it) most platforms will seem stable enough to you. I couldn’t comment on the mokken as I’ve never had one. My friend had a 12ft one and thought it was quite a wet ride in less than perfect seas Hope that helps Chris
Glad you’re enjoying them John- They’re just pads. I’ve added a tackle storage tray on one of the rails to make up for losing the centre console, I’ll be doing a fishing setup vid soon. 👍
Can you show in a video how to did your anchor system please… also what trolley do you use do you find it easy to get into roof racks? Haven’t tried mine on my roof yet👍🏻
Hi, I just attached two pulleys to the original rope fittings front and back for the anchor trolley. I use two drainpipes to slide my kayak up into my bars, I have an x-trail so it’s quite high up but it’s easy. Before the drainpipe thing I used to just put a pillow on the roof rails and slide it up. Lots and lots of vids out there on loading big kayaks 👍
Just got a c-tug trolley, how does yours for in the front hatch? Mine has got a lining which prevents you fitting it all in, do you store yours somewhere else when you arrive at the water? Thanks again Nick
@@nickwaters1142 I just strap mine to the back Nick. You can just take that lining out you know, just lifts out. It’s just a bag with a plastic rim in it.
Thinking of upgrading my kayak to a longer more stable one. Currently got a 9ft kayak and find it quite unstable when trying to fish over the side with both legs like you do and get things from my dry box. How do you find the Sturgeon for this? :)
Hi Paul, the cords to the steering handle come with it and are already attached inside, you just need to tie them to the rudder, if you mean the ropes to lift the rudder but you want to change them for a different colour you need non stretch paracord. Hope that answers your question 👍
