Accessories that protect your investment became a big focus for me last season. I almost lost rods 3 or 4 times and got those floats now. The rogue phone leash is a no brainer. Most of all protect the most valuable thing on the kayak, YOU, with a good pfd. I highly recommend one with pockets even though they can be hot. The heat becomes a moot point when you realize those pockets are super handy for organization.
💯 bro. And rogue makes a great product. Super sturdy. And I agree those PFD pockets are the real deal. Great to have everything close/on you. Once it gets to a certain temp, it doesn’t matter. Hot is hot 🥵
I almost saw a chupacabra chasing Bigfoot once when camping on Lake Travis, but it turned out to just be my naked drunk brother being chased by his drunk pittbull
I recommend the brand adventure medical kits. I use the .5 for backpacking and all outdoor activities. It’s watertight, lightweight, and bright yellow so it’s easy to find/see. Has everything you would need and probably extra. For just kayak fishing, you could probably get one of their smaller kits, I just like having a solid all around kit for when I’m outdoors.
Great ideas. Ps the anchor you showed needs to be tired so the main line goes to the bottom and the line is tied to the top with a weak zip tie so the anchor will release from being stuck in a tree out rock
All great products. Wanted to keep it beginner focused so I didn’t include the ketch board but that would be next up in importance. A good scale is a great call too.
I fish November to mid April. I have the wilderness tart . So, make my first aid kit to start, get a phone tether, get a light ? Night light, have a PDL and anchor wizard., have same 2 rod holders, going to make your krate, get a rod float, down in Englewood Florida, that’s the net I have now, no clubs for me. Need good pliers the Big Fish 108 has 2 cup holders , needs a dry bag, great native sunglasses
I ordered a phone tether and before it got to me I went fishing and it was hot. I forgot my phone was on me and went for a swim. I lost my phone but eventually did find it after searching for about 20 minutes. Never again! It will remain tethered to me or to the kayak at all times!!!
If you are new start out with dollar store stuff and upgrade. Get on the water and learn what you want. What he's telling you is what your going to want but sometimes you got to work up to it.
What do you guys do with your kayak cart while you're out on the water? Do you leave it on the shore or throw it in your truck? I figure it would get stolen if I leave it
Relatively new angler here. My business partner jumped the gun and bought both us hoodoo tempest pdl kayaks. Seen some mixed reviews on these. Should I be worried?
Thanks for starting to talk about life jackets. As a former emergency responder and military, it sucks recovering a body of a father who could swim. He jumped in to get his kid who was wearing a life jacket, but he wasn't wearing one. The water was cold. Kid lived, the father's body was found several days later after a long search. All it takes is once branch to the head and you're out and going to the bottom of the lake. I can't help anyone else if I drown, so I always wear my PDF. I always carry a throwable. (Great to sit on.) Wear the life jacket for your kid, please. (plus they have handy pockets, and I love pockets.)
@@BeardedDadFishing Oh and thanks for your videos, just ordered my new pedal kayak. I expect lots of Michigan fish will be laughing at my attempts to catch them soon. lol.
Great video, but I think you forgot a very important tool, the paddle Even though a lot of people have pedals or motors, a paddle is essential when launching or when the water gets super shallow

For a beginner kayak fisherman like myself, these are great recommendations! Thanks for the tips. Subscribed!
Thanks for watching! 💪🏽
PFD most important, remember if it’s not comfortable you won’t wear it ….great list
💯!!! Thanks for watching 💪🏽
I finally bought a yak and joined the group. This is my first season with a kayak.
Awesome congrats!! 🎉
@@BeardedDadFishing thanks man
You liking it so far? How’d the 5 months of fishing go?
@HLHS_Fishing it's been great. I've only flipped once and I have actually put afew bass in the boat. I even got drug through a lake by a catfish
My number 1 thing that I never leave without is a grout sponge. You can use it to soak up water and ring it out over the side of the kayak
Great call. I’ll have to add that to the next one!
I almost saw a chupacabra chasing Bigfoot once when camping on Lake Travis, but it turned out to just be my naked drunk brother being chased by his drunk pittbull
😂
Didn't think about the color of the vest until this video.
Great tips and video Jay. Solid work! Ill be picking up a lot from your list this coming summer.
Thanks RV! Had a tough time pairing down the essentials but pretty sure this covers them for me.
Thanks for watching!
I don't fish off my kayak yet but I love this video :)

Awesome video, Jay! Most of this stuff is now in my Amazon fishing wish list!
Thanks Aaron! That wish list never seems to get smaller, just bigger 😂
Great info Jay!
Thanks Lucas!
The sunglasses 👀 and PFD are definitely top 2 needs
Heck yeah! I’ve turned around more than once because I forgot my sunglasses at home. 😅

Thanks for sharing man!
Agreed PFD is most important! Great list of gear and I can’t recommend the Rogue phone tether enough! Saved my phone multiple times!
💯 bro
I’m a beginner in kayak.. very helpful video.. thanks.
Glad it was helpful brother!
I recomend a scale and something ro take a picture with. You catch your PB you will need a way to prove it. And a ketch board too.
All great products. Wanted to keep it beginner focused so I didn’t include the ketch board but that would be next up in importance. A good scale is a great call too.

Great video, I'm new to kayak fishing, and this helped. Thanks.
Awesome bro!
Just ordered a 120 PDL today and I can't wait to do something other than bank fish
You’ll love it!

Love my tether. Glad you got your phone back!
Great tips Jay.
Thanks Joe!
Great stuff Jay !! If you could ever do a video for how you setup your cameras to film on the water
I got you! I’ll put a short together for that. I keep it super simple too. Shoot me a DM I’ll hook it up with what I do.
Great video, thank you
Glad you liked it!
Pool noodles way cheaper and you can taper them easily or pipe wraps of various sizes. Also cheaper. Everything else is great advice

I almost lost a rod this spring. Luckily it was only 3 foot of water. I now have rod savers on all my rods now.
Good call!
You forgot the Dude Wipes. Some of us need those…………..
true!!! That should be #2 on the list 😅
too much info😂
Off topic, but it’s pretty cool you’re teaming up with impulse rods. I entered the giveaway!
What do you guys do with your kayak cart while you're out on the water? Do you leave it on the shore or throw it in your truck? I figure it would get stolen if I leave it
I typically take it back to the truck. I’ve also broken it down and carried it but it’s not worth it if you’re parked close by

I know some guys who have loved those yaks. Take em out and enjoy em!

100% brother. Thank you for what you’ve done 🙏🏽
I hope people continue to learn and understand why we should always have a PFD on.

100% necessary. I agree. Should’ve included it 👌🏽
People come to Virginia don't know about New River Current.
Is that you standing on your kayak? Is that possible?
Oh yeah! I stand way more than I sit
@@BeardedDadFishing I have a sit on top Teton but never tried standing cause I feel like I might flip 😂
@@Krymsn1 all depends on the kayak. Some are not standing friendly lol
Atv whip light
Ohhhh 🥵
Whistle
Always!
Did paddle not make the list? 🤔
Na but it should have!
@@BeardedDadFishing I'm just poking fun. 👍
@@TrumpOrBust fun is paddling my barge of a kayak around because the grass was WILD in Alabama 😂

Simple! Love it
I like my water craft like I like my meat cooked. Low and slow
be honest this is just a 20 minute Amazon commercial
