Ms. McCormick moved out September 19th, paid the entire $1250 fee to terminate the lease and paid rent through December, which allowed Ms. Tennison to remain there. Otherwise, she would have had to vacate much sooner. It didn't work out. Yes, it stinks to move, fork over a deposit, 1st and last months rent, etc., but apparantly Ms. Tennison thought they'd be living there forever. $10,000?? 🤬 It's nonsense like this that's tying up our courts so REAL victims are left waiting years for their justice. JMO
People always want to sue for the maximum amount in small claims. They've been conditioned by news stories of big settlements to think there is going to be a big payoff. She just wanted to get even and punish the other party. It seems like a bit of a tricky situation. Ms. McCormick should not have made that offer to pay until the end of the lease. Her offer to Ms. Tennison seems reasonable. I'm sure it was financially tough for both of them. Why characterize them both as Karens? Ms. McCormick was respectful and reserved through the whole process.

Since the "recent encounter" belongs to Karen--it is hers--you would use Karen's. However, in this case you are saying two Karens, plural. Do not use the apostrophe in this case. Do not trust the little red and green squiggles, or the autocorrect, to be correct. In this way you may avert any further apostrophe catastrophes.
