When the judge asked her why she was worried that the tenant had so much junk in there and then if something happened it would be her own fault, the defendant responded that “we live in litigious society“ and care has to be taken. Fire hazard affects the whole building! Blocking windows is a hazard for firefighters trying to take care of an emergency. All the items piled on top of each other is kindling and again a physical hazard.
And even if it was a DETACHED HOUSE, it would still be a defendant’s business because it’s HER HOUSE!!!!! If you cause a fire to be worse than without all the hazards, it’s her home that would be ruined!

Sorry judge, i live in small apt complex for last 12 yrs and we have had many hoarders that blocked windows,2nd exit door and the wall ac/heat.its a huge no no in our town regarding these issues with our fire inspectors.1 tenant brought in cockroaches in boxes that haven't been unpacked for yrs, another hoarder brought all kinds of broken things home and the furniture was full of bedbugs which spread thru to neighboring apts.if a fire started in one of these hoarders apt it would create an inferno
