Gladiators - Duel with old music

- BBC brought back classic 90’s show Gladiators on 13th January 2024.
The classic Muff Murfin theme is back but the incidental music isn’t. This is what Duel would have been like had they done… which in my opinion they should have done!
With thanks to who provided the original music to me, which was so long ago I can’t remember who this was.

Was really hoping for these old themes to return, especially the eliminator
Yes, I was saying in work today, why didn't they have the old event tunes like for duel. That tune is so cool and sets the tone and the emotion.
Exactly the ITV version had the best music, i have also noticed they have shortened the main theme and i don't think it's Freddi Mercury but that tribute guy the voice is softer. Ime referring to Another One Bites The Dust it doesn't sound like Freddi.
This is just FREAKING AWESOME! This took me right back to the 90s. THIS is how it should have been done! Best piece of editing I’ve ever seen!! Wowser! Goosebumps!!

This is so much better, when I saw the intro I got my hopes up and as soon as Duel started and this music didn't start I was beyond disapointed
This music needs to be reintroduced in the new series.

I said when watching it on Saturday, wheres the tune? Why isnt it playing? Watching that there changed the entite feeling and emotion then with the tune. Big mistakes them not putting in the tunes for the events 😢.

Honestly... the overall soundtrack feel here has the complete opposite problem of the 2008 reboot (where there it was overly hyping itself as seriously as possible) as aside from "Another One Bites the Dust" at least being there for Hang Tough and Duel and the Glads getting their own entrance themes, I only feel half as pumped with how mild the OST is.
When I catch the next episode live with Iplayer, I'm having my event playlist ready.

i miss the 90s version :( they should of kept the 90s music ! and gladiators use to be on ITV followed by blind date with cilla black lol plus jeremy beadles show as well saturdays were so good

It's fun watching the new show with the kids. They love it.. but man it really needs the music to pump up the action...
This reboot is pretty good, but bring back these original themes and it's almost perfect. 👌

Is it just me or do others also agree with me on the gladiators of the 90s looking far more intimidating and athletic in comparison to todays modern day series. Shadow looked completely jacked and scary when he was on duel with a aurora of invincibility about him. The same could be said for the likes of Saracen and Cobra on hang tough etc. Also we can say that Wolf looked far more menacing and villainous compared to anyone on the modern reboot.
The original music is more exciting they need to add it for season 2, i can tell however that is not Freddy, it sounds like that tribute guy.
To be honest, as much as I like the original tracks, I don’t mind the new music, even if it sounds like something out of a Sonic racing game. Still better than the Hollywoody tracks from the Sky One version. Would be interested to heat the new tracks in clean audio.

yeh they got the rights to that tbh it is kinda sad thy only got the og intro music not events would of loved them to use the wall hang tough duel and original eliminator themes

The current music sounds like a porn film. It kills any excitement in the events. This is much better.

The camera work isnt as good, and the duel stands are too close together
Ive had 4 weeks of the new glads to think about this, and I have come to the conclusion that personally, the old tracks are fantastic, but they should be left where they are, with two exceptions, Opening theme (which we got) and the Eliminator, both so iconic. That said, I dont hate on the new backing tracks, and I actually quite like the new eliminator one.
Call me a masochist, but I want to see an episode and form my own opinion. And see how bad this version really is.
