    You need a 433 gear to launch hard it's been a Pontiac gear for the longest time ever

      @@phillipbroady1181 I'd love to run a 3.73 in it, not much more than that so I could keep it street friendly.

    Nice Pontiac. I have a 1968 Firebird. I am hunting for a TH400 to build. I have a Kauffman headed 474 (4.221X4.250) comp solid roller, Edelbrock Victor. Makes just shy of 700 HP 643 'lbs of torque. I've had the block since 1989. Long live Pontiacs 😊

    Are you just running the big valves on it? I've always read that valve shrouding and piston to valve clearance are big concerns, you have any issues?

    • @PontiacRaysGarage
      @PontiacRaysGarage  Месяц назад +1

      @@AEtrane I reduced them to 2.120" intake and 1.700" exhaust. I also notched the cylinder bores to accommodate the valves past .600" valve lift. No issues yet, it runs hard, although I have no clean track numbers or dyno numbers to prove it, as the car has had various issues since installing the motor.
