On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-19-21.
We’re looking at a 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible in Black Paint. The car features a 400 CI V8 “Ram Air” engine, and a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Keith Gebhard. Keith’s had this car since 2007. Keith shares he was looking for a Pontiac with a 326 CI engine, however when he saw this car and realized how special it is, he had to have it. This car looks showroom new.

The best Firebirds were the first Firebirds, in my view, and this one is optioned out just perfectly. Way to go, Keith! Thanks Lou, this one is especially special, if that makes any sense : )

Beautiful car and extremely rare. The 326 was really not a performance motor. I think you would have gotten a 2 speed powerglide with that as an auto. A ram air 400 with 4 speed is a much more desireable car. Not to mention a much better performer. It is a beauty!

In 1979, local cool guy "Kelly" drove his '67 Bird out on the ice of a frozen lake and a few minutes later it was headed to the bottom! No one was hurt. Memorable.

Hi, Lou! The Firebird was part of the wave of Mustang followers to come out in 1967, along with the Camaro, the Cougar, and an all-new Barracuda. Seems these rare birds (and 'Birds) and one-of-a-kinds have a way of finding you to put on this program, and one you actually might have seen as a kid no less! And obviously, this one found Keith even as he had something a little less rare in mind! But this happened for a reason, and I think that was fate putting this black beauty in the hands of the right caretaker.

I agree with Bruce H that the first three years of production were the best Firebirds. I never did warm up to the models made after 1981. The first ones were exciting!

I had a burgundy 67 with the 326 manual trans. I wish I had it back. My buddy had a forest green 400 4 speed. Great cars. Both hardtops

That's the best of Camero/ Firebird the 1st generation ones live the sound of the Pontiac 400 I learned they made 4 bolt main for ram air thought they all were 4 bolt main because it's a big block

I always liked these cars, a guy I went to high school with in the 80s had a red 1969 Firebird with a 400 and the body and interior looked good but I would see that car broke down on the side of the road all over the place but it wasn't the cars fault it was owned by a 21 year old guy still in high school.

Ram Air 400 engine, not a Ram Air IV. That was not available until 1969. Big difference. Also, not a "rockcrusher" M 22 4 speed trans. either. Just the facts.
Correct. Only 1969 and 1970 for RAIV.

Hey Lou, I didn't know you lived in Elmhurst. I grew up and lived there from '57-'85 and remember Davis Pontiac quite well, as my brother purchased a '73 Grand Prix from them.

Thanks so much Lou. They definitely do not make them like that anymore. This Pontiac is a car with character, compared to the brutal, safety infused, electronically governed souless modern car muscle of today...I'd take this gorgeous Pontiac in preference any day. 👍

I Know where another one sits if the guy I grew up next door to still owns it!! His was dark green, Ram Air with the hood tach, AND if I remember correctly his was a four speed car, convertible too!!
