- Metallica capped off Powertrip with incredible energy! They were on point, tight, and polished. The sound was a amazing and the crowd was loving it. They got the crowd going more than any band at the festival.
Everyone freaked out when they opened up with Whiplash and kept the hits going all night long! They ended with Master of puppets and many thanks to the crowd.
I was in the pit with my son soaking it all in, what an amazing memory I'll never forget!

I flew from Delaware to see this and met up with some friends. So glad I was invited. We had general admission ticket though so you couldn't actually see the bands without watching the big screen. Was still super fun, the entire place was just packed with swarms of people. Security didn't even check me for my flask and I was just getting hammered hahaha. Absolutely a great time, thanks for the video!

Thanks so much for this! I’ve been very ill and can’t afford to buy tickets. I haven’t been to any live show since around 2009 when Aerosmith came through NYC with Cheap Trick. This video at least makes me feel like I can enjoy the experience in some way. I always hope that my situation will change so I can see Metallica at least once in my life - even experiencing Metallica from the bathrooms of a venue would be incredible, lol. My service dog is also a huge fan and loves when I play their music on guitar. He’d totally enjoy himself (with special military grade hearing protection) if he got to feel that music live - he loves to lean against my guitar to have a great stretch and nap when I play Metallica (pretty badly, lol). Must be the rhythm section and deep dark frequencies he’s enjoy most because he doesn’t do it quite to the same level with any other band lol.
I was born in ‘81 and have listened to this band since I was a young kid. Their music has always gotten me through some rough times as a kid (my dad was very sick at age 37 and passed when he was 41 - I was 6 when he got ill and 9 when he passed). It got me through my accident that permanently disabled me when I was 22. And their catalog has gotten me through the illness I’ve mentioned that I’ve endured since 2018.
So yeah, if I had to pick a single show I’d want to see, Metallica would be it. GnR would be a close second on my wishlist.
Anyway, thanks so much for putting this video out there so people like me can have an idea of knowing what it’s like to be at the show.
Btw, are these guys not playing at their best EVER?! The album is sick, and those songs were definitely designed with live shows in mind. Whoever disputes that this band hasn’t earned its place in music history and all of its successes(*cough Mustaine *cough) needs their ears tuned and a major reality dose.

Hi Scott. 5th member here. I first heard Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning “ when I was 12 in 84, bought “Kill ‘em All” a week later and they’ve been my Metal Gods ever since! I love the new “72 Seasons” album.

Can’t wait for you to post Tool’s performance. Where we were in the crowd we were going insane for both Tool and Metallica. It was my third time seeing Tool and first time for Metallica.

to be honest considering the circumstances kirk is playing under he is doing incredibly well, especially since it is speculated that he has arthritis. Which would definitely explain him struggling to finger pick the nothing else matters intro.

It seems like it was a Good Night out for everybody. You got the maiden entertain, you got the Metallica family. You got the ACDC group. I think everybody's all together. I'll have a good time, power trip and each otherote. But all in all and all in session done I think everybody was a little nervous. Some people had little ups and Downs. But all in all, it was a one hell of a festival. This should have more of these in the future. It's actually good to see festivals and many groups together. In one show makes a huge huge difference.

Love mixing it up and putting Sandman right in the middle of the set!
If you’ve never been to a Metallica concert, it’s hard for you to understand this, but there isn’t a song that hits you like “Ecstasy Of Gold”.
That’s the moment it sinks in your body is reacting to what’s about to happen, and it just builds until it brings THEM on.
THEM, as in the people you’ve watched, loved and listened to your entire life.
Having seen them 50 times, it never gets old. It still gets me every fucking time.

Metallica gave it their all as usual but the crowd seems a little too uptight. Best crowd from their tour last year in 2022 were from Boston and Las Vegas. It was wild and Metallica lit up brighter than usual. This is just me missing the 80s Metal energy. Thank you for uploading and sharing this historic moment.
best crowd was buenos aires and its not even a competition, second best was chile. they fuckin sing the riffs

I wish I could have afforded to go to this. Metallica and Tool are my two favorite bands and I always wanted to see them together. My father died a couple years ago, when I was still young, suffering from dementia. That was the weekend of his anniversary of death. It would have meant the world to me to see that show. Thankful to at least have the videos to watch ❤️

What an amazing recording. Really enjoy hearing you talk about the show before it starts. You must have tons of stories over the years. I went to the Metallica concert on 9/9/2023 in Phoenix it was my first concert I’m absolutely loved it. Also, at the concert I went to during For Whom The Bell Tolls I started the chant.

@@LiveRockMusic Also glad you posted this, becasue I could not see about 40 minutes of it with her on my shoulders :) So many great people around us that made it happen for her by push us to the front, and helping her up and down from my shoulders to make sure the "next generation" keeps the music alive. Some random dude passed her a pick at the end of the show.. She/we will never forget that night.

I was lucky enough to see Metallica 3 times in Reno, NV. At one time, "James Hetfeild" had a guitar up there playing it with LIQUID inside the guitar. SO AWESOME !!😊😊😊😊

Hetfield sounds amazing - muscially and vocally! Some of those high notes, screams, and roars remind of his older self. Love to see how Metallica has stayed as awesome as it was in the 80s and 90s (to a certain extent)!

Okay…so you kick ass for two reasons:
1) Was literally 10 feet to your stage left…
2) You caught the fireworks on “Enter Sandman” that I missed…because being a true photojournalist, I panned the camera behind me expecting white light on the crowd (which happened) but not pyro…
Was disappointed to turn back around and see just the tail end of them. Amazing to see myself in my first time on RUclips also! 😂😂😂 awesome job.

2009 was an epic tour we seen them for the death magnetic tour it was absolute insanity in my opinion the best james voice ever sound but ill be going to see them for the 5th time November 10 and 12! Cant wait as the new ablum is fire!
