How does this channel not ten times the subscribers? These are by FAR the best lore videos for AoS, and even put a lot of the 40K loretubers to shame! Thank you for your videos, and all the inspirations you gave me for my armies!

I hate to tell you this, but AoS is not as loved as 40k. I have a hard time getting someone, anyone, to play with my at my local game store.

Slaves to Darkness are my favorite of the AoS armies. My fluff for my army is they are called the Black Sun Host, and are lead by the Chaos Lord Kainen Hollowheart. I run them as all Undivided to represent following Malal.

Your videos are the best ASMR ever :D
I was playing mortal followers of Chaos since the 6th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, I was running a thematic Nurgle list while, since Age of Sigmar is with us, I play an Undivided army with Khorne elements here and there (for example, Blood Warriors kitbashed with parts of different models as Chaos Warriors with two weapons).
The fluff for my army indicates that this Slaves to Darkness force is representing remnants of a nation once located in Chamon that held blacksmiths in high regard. Unluckly for them, they needed to leave their nation because of a deadly foe and fled through a Realmgate into Ghur where they survived only because the Dark Gods answered their prayers. Because of their affinity with metallurgy and being accustomed to wage war against deadly monsters of Ghur, parts of them are really into collecting the skulls for Khorne and developing more deadly demonic weapons and heavier Chaos armour for their warriors.

Super excited for the StD (best acronym) week. I never intended to start an StD army but then I got a bunch of Warcry warbands and Khagra's Ravagers and had so much fun with the models I dove in headfirst with the Start Collecting and new army box. My fluff is going to be that this army is based in the Eight Points. The lord is gathering all the disparate tribes to fight against the OBR invasion, so each Warcry warband will have its own color scheme while the main StD units will have a single coherent scheme so I can really embrace the horde of rabble look.

I've become enthralled in the power play ambitions of Be'Lakor and am working on a Legion of the First Prince force currently. I forsee the next big shake up in the AoS lore being a civil war of sorts between the forces of Chaos with Be'Lakor taking on Archaon. He's already begun coercing his Varanguard to slowly switch sides. It's only a matter of time and time means nothing to the Dark Master

My warband follows Morkar, formerly Morcar (at least in my headcanon). Morcar was the OG bad guy controlling the forces of chaos in heroquest (back then, chaos in Warhammer fantasy included orcs and skeletons as well as what we know as chaos now).
I don't think it's a coincidence that Morkar was the first everchosen. Basically, I'm gonna be using the limited cast run of old Archaon to represent Morcar (after all, Archaon did indeed wear his armour, so it literally is the right aesthetic), and he's just found himself resurrected spat back into the mortal realms for reasons unknown, along with some of his most dedicated followers.
I'll be using older sculpt warriors and knights as his followers, with their armour painted in an ancient bronze style.
At some point they'll hook up with Be'lakor, which will be a very interesting reunion indeed.
If I'm really feeling interesting, I may even have some narrative games where Morcar once again manages to field undead and even orcs in his army, as some of them are unable to resist the lure and power of a true and ancient everchosen

My Warband are the Damned Companions. They had the honor of being picked (I say randomly) by Archaon for some battle that he also took part in. Ever since they are all about joining the Varanguard, they want to serve Archaon and be HIS champions. Most of the time they don’t get there but the Lord of this warband is J’Dal the Relentless and he actually does have the honor of scoping out people for the Varanguard and he’s entrusted with the duty of killing those that have failed. They actually see Deamonhood as somewhat of a consolation prize because they have to pledge themselves to a god over Archaon but in this respect they are also more likely to fight with him in battle.

What I like about AOS over 40k is that Chaos has essentially already won. And the other factions are fighting to survive in a world ruled by Chaos. 40k on the other hand is Chaos/Xenos race will occasionally turn up on a world and the imperium fights them off. That's an over simplification of course, 40k has some great lore but this is my take on the differences.

Ever since I started my slaves army I wanted them to sort of be an "undivided" group that worshipped each God in their own right, but didn't dedicate to one specific ever. This new book does that way more than the last one. I'm still kinda trying to make coherent lore for them but I've had ideas floating around for a couple years.

Can't wait to get a copy of this. Finally got my buddy to make the jump from fantasy to sigmar. He was one of the disgruntled ones so left his skaven in their cases ever since the end times. I on the other hand started warriors of chaos just as the end times dropped so I've been sitting on roughly 3400 pts of slaves just waiting to play

Hey Doug! Love your channel, I spend many nights painting my Slaves To Darkness while tuning in and learning some lore, I love your stuff!!
My own warband is sworn to Be'lakor, being painted up the match the Chaos Legionnaires. I have it set up where their bases are Ulgu themed. My hope and goal would be that as Be'lakor continues to make his moves he would try to take a little 'slice' of Ulgu for himself, being a master of shadow magic that he is.
That is one thing I have been thinking on, and would love your opinion on: Do you think Be'lakor could find away to being himself to full Godhood like Morathi did? I just cant help but think he would make a gambit for Ulgu given his mastery over the shadow arts. I feel that would just be home to him. Seeing Be'lakor and Malekith fight over the realm would be amazing I think. Seeing all the plotting and back stabbing and the like would be great. What do you think Be'lakor's plan would be? You game for operation Ulgu? haha keep making great stuff!

Undivided my foot! I'm doing my stuff all Tzeentch baby. Coalition units for my Tzeentch army.
My Tzeentch/Warriors of Chaos forces are called the Rubric of Helbrass and stationed in Ghyran and twist life magic into warped jungles that spew magic and twist flesh.
It's an homage to classic Warriors of Chaos charcter Aekold Helbrass from the old world, who was a Tzeentchian champion who wielded the wind of life with great skill.
My chaos collection is about 2/3s Tzeentch and 1/3d Warriors of Chaos minies.
(The rest of my minies are Lizardmen and I run Thunderlizard dino spam in the Convocation of Itzl, also a Ghyran stationed army and obviously enemies to my chaos forces.)

Just restarted my Slaves to Darkness army called The Silver Horde. Led by 2 brothers, as yet unnamed, a lord and a sorcerer lord both on manticores. But I also have the demon prince from the army box, so we'll see who the real boss is. Somewhere is also a chaos shrine and a cockatrice, so it looks like a fun army.

I've started to collect slaves to darkness and I love their models, I've been playing warcry for some time now but I'm getting into playing aos so slaves to darkness will be a new warband and my first aos army
The theme for my army is that, through the ashes of war and the flames of spite they rose from the dead earth of previous wars, once living they are now the embodiment of battle
Basically I'm going with a magma colour scheme, so their armour is black and their eyes and other details glow a fiery orange/yellow

  • @TheRoark
    @TheRoark Год назад +1

My slaves to darkness come from a frozen part of the mortal realms yet to be decided. They worship three deities that are tied to the features of their frozen landscape. The first is grandfather winter, who is an embodiment of cold snow, etc.. The second is the Lord of lights who is the god of prophecy and the ever changing lights in the sky. The last god is the first hunter, who is the god of tracking, killing meat and blood.
The only chaos God they spurn is Slaanesh, who they see as wasteful in the cruel frozen landscape. They associate her with the spring, which never comes. Seeing as Andtor is a land of sorcery and frostbitten mountains I think I will have them be from there for the new season.

Have a big marauder heavy army. Lots of boys and girls converted from blood reavers and bloodbowl to give variety to my hordes of Vikings (gave some bows to count as ungor raiders). Really like the idea of all these regular tribal humans workin on building lives, worshipping their gods, and raiding settlements.
Currently tryin to plan out how to make them all work as darkoath savagers instead after the great marauder nerf

I wouldn’t say that the different groups don’t know the god’s “true names”, as much as it is that the four names we know are what the Order factions call them. All of these aspects are still true names for those forces.

My Slaves to Darkness army has one primary leader of each Chaos God. Which I denoted by painting them their specific color. I have a Slaanesh cavalryman. A Nurgle sword man with this cool Plaguesword-but-not, a Khorne guy with a wolf head/fur hat and an axe. And this super fanciful looking Tzeentch Sorcerer I bought alongside it. I haven't really thought about much of a story outside of that though.
