I love tzeentch. He exemplifies the belief that we can do and be more, that we are all capable of greatness. Where nurgle teaches you to take what you have tzeentch shows you can be more. And how is that achieved? Rationality, logic, knowledge, transcending the impulsive nature of the other gods. Where they all seem to me a manifestation of our base urges, tzeentch teaches us to open our minds. Plus I've never been very physically strong so I've always liked the idea of trying to find advantages that can allow the weak to defeat the strong. So I enjoy the deceptive side where you have to really think about what you're doing. And I also love magic for this reason, ranged attacks to let you defeat them before they can reach you, and buffs to turn a pretty standard unit into something terrifying.
I don't know anyone right now in my city playing Warhammer, so this is fantastic. It's like I get to hangout with someone and chat about the lore! Thank you so much Doug, I really appreciate all the content! I know you dont get to see the fans, but they're out there!
I know it’s an odd pairing, but Khorne and Tzeentch have always been my favorites. Part of me enjoys overwhelming my foes with raw blunt strength where another finds great joy in weaving elaborate traps and stratagems.
I much prefer the old lore of the gods, where Nurgle and Tzeentch were the oldest, Khorne was born during humanity's great expansion through the mass bloodshed and crusading, and finally Slaneesh was last
It just makes more sense to me, as long as there has been life there has been death, and as long as there has been existence, there has been change. For there to be war there must be sentience and anger, for there to be excess there must be greed and pleasure. These are much newer and younger concepts than the existence of life and change
My favorite is slaanesh because everything in warhammer is done to the excess, and all that eccess just feeds her more and more. Shes the most subtley powerful chaos god because its taken millenia for the other gods to be like "wait a minute, slaanesh is a threat" because all theyve really seen is a bunch of pleasure cults snorting warp dust off witch aelves. Not exactly the most intimidating. But theres so much more besides that, and the other gods and even the order gods are all feeding her and i just love it entirely
A very extremely awesome video as always Doug. And remember that all four the greatest Chaos Gods have endless legions of mortals, beastmen, daemons and other servants as well. And I love all four of the major chaos gods.
Tzeench and Slaanesh. In that order. I love Tzeench's making everything a troll joke to everybody. I love Slaanesh because hedonism and wish of self improvement are natural things to pursue.
Awesome video dude. I Agree, it’s very cool the fact that you can create backstories which have your war band following Chaos Gods and not knowing it (Palace of the Plague Lord by I think C L Werner is a great BL WHFB version on this theme); I also really like the idea which was a common theme in WHFB which had the tribes of the Norscans , Hung etc who DID know who the 4 were but worshipped them as part of a pantheon, seeing all 4 as representing a vital element of existence and therefore all worthy of worship. Kind of like a AoS version of the Word Bearers or something... Their prophet could be an originally “good guy” who was manipulated a la Horus by some shifty Erebus type at the abandonment of his people by Sigmar? Maybe a great general of Sigmar’s Armies pre abandonment and his creation of the stormcast eternals? Anyone see any flaws lore wise in this background?
Life is chaos. Everything decays. Praise be to Papa Nurgle! I've always loved Khorne but as I've gotten older (I'm only 30) I am slowly but surely giving in to the hopelessness of it all... I really like the kind of Lovecraftian vibe Tzeentch has going on. The less said about the boob-worms, though, the better! I get Slaanesh's deal but the aesthetic has never sat right with me. That being said, the Infernal Enrapturess is an awesomely brutal model
Khorne is number one in my eyes, always has been and will be. After that... its probably tzeentch, but thats cause I play 1ksons in 40k. Least favorite im sorry to say is nurgle. The aesthetic makes me wanna throw up and I can't imagine actually wanting to worship nurgle.
You know, me being a transwoman, you’d think I’d be all over Slaanesh cause of the wish fulfillment aspect of her, but honestly, I think Tzeentch is more useful all around because he’s more magic oriented, and whether it’s incinerating enemy battalions from ten miles away or simple parlor tricks, Magic is fun. That, and his duplicitous nature would be advantageous, possibly, for political maneuvering.
Tzeentch is the best god. Everyone had a chance for greatness, you don’t need to be the strongest, toughest, or fastest, you just need to be clever. A god for the downtrodden, to change your fate despite the odds and rise to greatness. Sure he may turn you into a bird for fun, but it’s all part of the great game.
Joshua Turnquist nah man. Read “The lives of Ferrag Lion-Wolf”. Or “Palace Of the Plague Lord”. Tzentch is always actively f&£king his followers over just for lolz. He loves it. It’s an end in itself. Nurgle ftw. That’s true equal opportunities damnation
Did they really change it in age of Sigmar that Korn was the oldest? Because if I remember correctly nurgle was the oldest in Warhammer fantasy and Korn was the oldest in 40K.
They go to the warp where if they are either get their souls eaten by the chaos gods or worthy enough that the gods grant them some form of immortality like being a daemon or be a champion
@@lynnusuk2092 The warp is 40k tho. In old fantasy there was a Valhalla esque afterlife where norscans went to after they died so I was wondering how AoS is handling it.

@@lynnusuk2092 Yeah but the chaos gods have different a different relationship with mortals in fantasy because of all the other gods. In fantasy no one would ever worship chaos if their souls would get eaten because there are other gods that offer way better deals. 40k chaos is just dumb.

Also the chaos gods do use deception though not tzeetch levels but they go by different names and implement it in many different cultures that seems different at first but are very similar, like you may see a tribe worshipping a war god that values honor and courage but that’s just khorne masking his true intentions to make the forces of order off his back. They also have domains that seems redundant to some other gods too, like nurgle life and death which lapses with nagash , or khorne’s domain is war and we still know there are the daughters of khaine in aos so they might be worshipping khorne unknowingly since khaine seems to be dead when the old world died, and tzeetch is sorcery, change and trickery and knowledge which you don’t need to worship him to be his worshipper if that make sense since he’s going to trick you into becoming one like it or not just by searching forbidden knowledge or using sorcery
i dont like that there are no longer reall undivided daemon princes, or at least that the rules in tabletop no longer offer mark undivided or that the slves to darkness states that to ascend a champion MUST choose one god
What would you take as undivided? Feels like extra work for no reason. If you take slaves of darkness they pretty much are undivided in terms of play because they have their own tome and rules even if they use the word mark. Just allows chaos as a whole to be more flexible which is a good thing

Yes there are some. Though they aren't as relevant as the big four so don't get brought up as much but they do exist.
