So basically, the whole reason unused sugar gets converted into fat for storage is because sugar and fat both convert into the same usable fuel for both the brain and the rest of the body. This is advantageous for people who have insulin resistance because as blood glucose levels drop, the pancreas registers a reduced demand for insulin and begins to decrease insulin production. Adipose tissue doesn't require insulin to metabolise, but glucose does. So here's th question -- why consume sugar at all? Why not consider sugars an addictive substance and steer clear of it? And as for cholesterol, because I know someone's gonna bring this up in their response, how do we then determine the density of a lipoprotein so we know which ones to avoid and which ones to consume?
Very nice. I’m every ketogenic diet video it’s only mentioned ketones but no one told from where these ketones comes. Today I learnt that liver has it as an emergency store for brain only.
Could you please help me by sharing my contents with your friends group/ college group. I put huge efforts in making these videos but unfortunately not a lot of people are watching this.
Good description except that ketolysis is the preferred state & glycolysis is the overfed state. Because the brain is a large energy consumer excess glucose is sent there leading us to mistakenly believe it is a preferred energy source. Glycolysis produces ROS & is inflammatory, even the "normal" state [4:20] produces pyruvate which is cleared by converting to Acetyl CoA.
Amazing! I'm taking Exogenous Ketones and they make me feel alert. This is helping me understand how I can feel okay while the supplement bottle says it's only 10 calories! It's literally brain food, and the brain eats first. The rest of the adipose fat that I have can be used by my muscles.
Hello very informative information thanks, My query is I'm 30yr have 102 temp I tested my urine in that ketone Trace 5mg/dl protein + and some infection shows and my sgpt is also 72 iu/l some time my urine is dark yellow color I visited to my nearest doctor he say it not an issue. What you think is this serious? Your video clear lots of concepts.. Please reply ASAP.
Ketone "bodies" are called "bodies" simply because out of thousands of different kinds of ketones those three are the ones made in your body! Ketones do not require "starvation" conditions - simply removing carbs from the diet will lead directly to ketone production. Carbohydrates are the only macro nutrient we can live completely without. The body runs best on ketones and gluconeogenesis from breaking down fats and proteins when necessary. The heart runs far more efficiently on ketones than on glucose. The skeletal muscles do not take long to adapt to using ketones when removing carb addiction. We did not evolve with high quantities of sugar, cultivated crops or fruits or anything like the dominance of carbs that we have today.
I’m lil confused on ketones and gluconeogensis. During fasting how come body uses these 2 energy sources same time. Also which body part uses which energy source pls suggest.
Just curious. I came to know that blood glucose can’t be below optimal range, so during fasting when glucose stores are blank and body making ketones then how body maintains glucose levels. Does body make ketones and glucose same time for energy need during starvation or fasting.
@@animatedbiologywitharpan I watched above link it was very worth full watching. I saw somewhere in videos that fatty acids or body fats can also be converted to glucose. But why body will touch proteins to make glucose while body will have lots of stored fats during fasting state.
Great video. So am I understanding this correctly? If there's no more glucose (stored as glycogen) left in the liver or muscles (muscles will keep its glucose for its own use), then your liver will convert fat cells/fatty acids into ketones for the brain. But other parts of the body can just use the free fatty acids going around in your blood stream. Is this correct? I am asking as a person who is overweight and I want to start losing body fat.

ketone bodies: what are they? what is DKA? how are ketone bodies related to DKA? where are the ketone bodies produced in the body [organ names]? can the same organ consume them? what other organ(s) consume(s) ketone bodies as a major source of energy? when do these organs use them as a main source of energy?
You said ketone bodies are special and brain uses the same when in starved condition nutrient is limiting. Have you correctly said so? Actually when glucose is limiting brain uses ketone. That means glucose is the nutrient. No, gluconse is one of the many nutrients and a micro nutrient. It's not glucose, it's ketone which a preferred fuel for brain. Brain not only use ketone in starved condition but also if someone eats very low carb diet. Hope you will respond.
Actually brain still will use a little % of glucose, either fasted stated or low carb. But your body will make it, so don't worry If you are on a low carb diet
@@nicolasmolina9364 Yes. Body will create new glucose from non carbohydrate substrate through gluconeogenesis when there is deficit of glucose for the cells which require only glucose for energy production. The number of cells which can not burn ketone for energy is very very less like red blood cells, few brain cells etc. I wanted to indicate that please talk all that you you did in the video keeping in view the effect of LCHF or Ketogenic diet but not only the effect of starvation. Hope I sound sensible to you.

Hi. Have you tried low carbs and Intermittent Fasting, or 3 day water fasts? Gets you into ketosis and it’s free.
@@SpiralMystic 12-16 hours without carbs/sugar gets you into ketosis.
@@Fx_- Wouldn't that depend on your glucose levels?
@@Fx_- What I meant was if your blood glucose levels are higher than normal, it'll take longer to induce ketosis.
