I would absolutely choose this over the Omega. I've just paid £ 5500 for a new OP 41. I love the watch. But this ZM11 looks different gravey, so much more enginerred than that. Just over £6000. Reminds me of the moser. The bracelet is phenomenal i love everything about it. Its not a watch to buy if you consider watches as investments , but i a thing of beauty i most certainly is.
I saw the ZM11 watch in the flesh yesterday. I must say they look much nicer in person. I think Leica has found a good balance between kitsch marketing piece and a serious watch. The dial, movement and overall presentation is very serious. I really like the use of the Leica font in both the date numbers and around the inner dial- clever touch that only Leica camera users will notice. Nice move Leica. Blue in Ti would be a solid addition yet the steel looks very nice. Integrated bracelet is done as good as any integrated. I’m very interested!
@@jsirwin4824 Many have Omegas for good reason, they are exceptional in so many different areas. Not saying that the Leica watches aren’t as they make some of the best mechanical and digital cameras out there. I’m just not sure i’m willing to spend 10k+ on a watch that has little to no history.
It's called brand stretching. Many brands move into different product categories. Using their expertise from what they are famous for to make something they are not known for. It does not mean they don't want to do their original business anymore. It's just to diversify their business, and have more revenue streams. It's not wise to put all your eggs in one basket. Nor to rely on only one industry/business to make money.
When I was a student, 20+ years ago, I was working in a camera shop, and we were selling Leica. The cameras were and are superb. The history, the pleasure of the mechanic precision, the german design and all the rest. I used them, I loved them, still do. But please Leica, just make cameras.
Ughhhh, it would be so cool to have one. I use Leica metrology equipment all day at work, 7 grand is a tough sell though. Though it’s a bargain compared to their $250K laser trackers
They are certainly very beautiful watches. It will bebvery interesting to see if Leica can establish themselves in horology and become well known for it
With this watch they are going a different direction. They are pretty transparent on the suppliers for this watch. E.g. the movement is made by Chronode SA, who is very reputable for making swiss movements for high end independent watchmakers.
@@NikolausHirsch I’m sorry, but I want a German movement in the Germanest of German watches. I’m pretty sure there was SOMEBODY in Glashutte willing to throw a movement in a $7000 Leica. I mean, if this Leica had a NOMOS NEOMATIK all up in it, I don’t think people would criticize. It’s too bad, I really like the styling.
Hmmm. honestly i love the ~grand seiko sbgs005~ not sure if that possible to get for that price tho,@@NikolausHirsch . Else the snowflake looks awesome aswell.
For that money this watch would be at the end of a very long queue, including about a dozen micro brands that offer much for for less than half the price. The dial is boring / uninspired and they are not a name in watches to justify anything about this pricing.
@@NikolausHirsch I feel if they designed a watch from their own style it would look more like a braun or junghans watch. So I guess they tried to differentiate themselves and over did it. But I think it would be better if they stuck to their own doctrine. Simple Functional design, top machining and quality. Precision comes to mind when I think Leica. The watch has way too much going on, heavy organic curves (almost early 2000’s „aliens“ and rounded bevels etc. Leica products never have organic shapes, and they chamfer almost all their edges. Therefor I would give the watch a really good movement. Maybe they would produce a custom rotor or something. and a simple sleek, sharper design. Brushed steel case. With a domed crystal, to reference their lenses, maybe it chamfered or have a unique coating, and it would be of course made in their lens factories. Maybe the second hand would a red accent.

It's cool but not 6k cool lol, at that price range can get better things.
Definitely Omega range and i’d waaaay rather have that
was about to say picking Omega with that money @@tylerfukuda
This is going to be a challenge, however they do have a strong community therefore I don't see any problem for them to sell out.
@@tylerfukuda Many have Omegas, not so with Leica.

Leica doesn't want to be a Camera Manufacturer anymore? I'm Lost....
They do just with some watches in their portfolio too 😁

Leica made watches before cameras.
Mate, they started off as a watch maker I believe
You are correct. Watches came 1st.@@epicv7dayz824

Why should they only make cameras? 🤷🤷🤷

Awesome 👏
Great Video! :) did you also film a video about your visit at Nomos Glashütte? :)
I did! Here it is ruclips.net/video/_JCMj5uiNqU/видео.htmlsi=DevdowPrrAVDGGlz
Beautiful watch and worth consideration if it was half the price
This is something to consider.
If we buy the steel version, are the other straps also included?
No. They can be purchased extra and will fit.
4’13’’ i see black side and top red 😅

Only time can tell. However they are putting a lot of effort in it.
@@NikolausHirsch I can certainly see that. I do think it shows in the watches they are producing.
Great review I like it but it's a big wedge💲💲💲💲💲
I like it
Definitely not worth it, so many better options out there
What would you rather pick?
Errr .."Swiss Made"?! Says on the bezel. Was not Leica insisting of calling their watches and cameras "German Made"?

Hello 👋, nice 🙂
How much?
Price depends on the version you pick but between 7-8k€
Nica watch, but for that price, I’d go for something else, like an Omega, or IWC or a Zenith, even a second hand.
Thanks for the feedback 🙌
for that money i'd rather get a grand seiko
Interesting. Which one?

Junk
Joke...
tbh all the leica watches are really ugly. They don't represent Leica at all either. Instead of sleek functionality they went for loud design.
What would you change?

Have to say that whoever buys this watch is less gifted.
why that?
