Thanks a lot. Didn’t know the AUC sensor also impacted the AC function as such. I have had the 9C54 - AUC sensor code for some months. No real issues since I could switch on internal circulation manually. But recently the ac was not as cold as it used to be, the blower didn’t rev so to speak. Changed the auc sensor and it fixed the problem.

Hey Doc, great video. I have a 2004 545i with no AC. Changed the compressor, (aftermarket from Jensen), worked, then broke down within a year. Still under warranty so they sent another, also changed the evaporator - still didn't work. Driving along a couple of days later, suddenly got cold air! Then went bye-bye after 10 minutes, or so. This behavior would happen every so often, sometimes nice and cold, other times just a bit cool, now nothing but warm air. Refrigerant in the system has been confirmed. I do have oil leaks, and just repaired a radiator leak, so I'm hoping the AUC sensor could be the culprit, as you pointed out in your video. How can I tell if this sensor is, or is not working? Do I simply have to replace it and see if that works? Or is there another way to test it out? Thanks! Dan

My only problem with my AC was that it made a whining noise so I replaced my blower and when everything is connected when I drive on a on a regular drive on the car it seems like it switches on its own so I'm pretty sure if what you're referring to is a u c and I would have to replace that and everything else would be working just perfectly

  • @Converxful

My A/C is working and everyone I know and has this error (AUC 9C54), their A/C works just fine. It only sniffs the quality of the air. If there's some bad air, it only switches to your internal air flow instead of outside air flow when you have your A/C switched to AUTO.

The setting in the iDrive was the reason why my AC was blowing cold only in Max mode and not in the normal mode :) thank you for the video. Since I started to use AC this summer, I hear a whistling sound (like a turbo fan) when I turn my AC on and sound goes away when I turn the AC off. Any ideas why? I checked the refrigerant pressure and looks ok. I suspect AC Clutch bearing but is there any way to verify that without taking the compressor out?

Hello there, the AUC sensor is a great hint.
Im driving the 2l diesel, the N47 engine.
And lately it burns a lot of oil, like you said the PCV or Valve Cover Gasket is not working properly so the oil drops right on the Kat... and the Kat is right under the AUC sensor so you might be right with it.
Since my engine burns a lot of oil lately the Climate control panel doesn’t work properly
so thanks again for the hints
    greetings from Germany

Hello there, I know this is an old video, but. I have an issue with my e91, there is an error code 9c48, the issue is that at first the car blows hot air on both sides but after a while it only blows hot on the drivers side(left hand drive), this is only on fan, the AC blows cold air everywhere without any issues. Do you think that it might be the same sensor as I have already changed the flap motor which is linked to this code?

In turn, I’m having to give extra throttle to even keep it on the same velocity. The rpm loss is restored when AC is turned off. What is the issue? Please help. Recently our summer came and I put in the air con and it worked perfectly. However over the last few months it has worked intermittently and I cannot work out why it is doing this. One day it is working perfectly and I put it in the shed and I dont touch the settings. The next day it just blows air but not cool air. Hoping you might be in a position to suggest something. I have gone to idrive - climate and followed your advise and set it to aircon.

That sensor at time 1:12, isn’t that the AUC sensor? I thought that was to sniff out pollutants in the air, and if there is, it cuts off air coming from outside the car. On cars with this sensor, the re-circulation button has 2 modes, re-circulation and the AUC sensed mode, that will automatically shut of outside air, if there is pollutants in it.

2008 520d E61 - Air con hasn't been working for couple of years now, warm weathers here so I want to investigate again. I've checked the Idrive settings all good, I did have it regassed at quick fit, it lasted all of about a 12 hours......so I'm thinking a leak, the guy at quick fit said he couldn't see any leaks with the UV dye. My opinion was he couldn't be arsed as he was packed out and just wanted me gone, and suggested I see a specialist as it was too involved for him. Are there any seals on this model that typically fail? I see the condenser is very well protected so is unlikely a crack in there, but just putting this out there as some (BMW doctor) may know a probable cause.

Dr dean, if you put it on all the cold in the i drive and forget about it an when it’s winter will it allow warm air through if you set your thermostat to warm setting? Or do you have to go in I drive an change it to hot every time you want to use the heat ?

just leave it in the middle mate and control it with climate control them controls are only to use comfortably while driving without touching climate control panel
