So if we have lights staying on and think its the micro power module if we disconect the micro power module and the lights stay on does that rule that out?

I have BMW650I 2007 all of a sudden after being out, tried to switch the car BUT the ignition won’t start. The car stayed at the garage overnight. The garage told me it’s a battery 🪫 issues. Had the battery replaced on warranty while the car was running. Switched the ignition off tried to switch the car on BUT it won’t start. I knew it wasn’t the battery. Took the car again on trailer to the same garage. He told me it’s the battery 🪫 again. Tried switching the car after trying it started. Decided to take the car home. I watched your video specifically focusing on the fob Keys battery. I always keep spare batteries at home. SO I replaced the fob key battery. Since no issues SO far. Keeping my fingers cross. I was considering the IVM supply power unit. SO far so good. Thank you SO much for identifying the fob key battery. The car with NO starting issues so far for the last four weeks. However am making sure the auto headlights are off during the daytime. Am checking the gear box sticker light it goes off after a while. One thing I would like to share Re electrical modular. When I switch the car off I could hear some noise in the dashboard passenger side. I am assuming it’s the IVM modular. The climate is extremely hot sometimes 48c during summer. Hope my contribution would help others to diagnose the issue by simple steps. The fob key battery 🪫 cost £2 very easy to replace, no need for programming whatsoever. The main car battery 🪫 cost around £150. These simple steps are important. 🙏

Wow, were to start? Guess I have a nice check list to go through though, thanks. Here in the States, daughters 06 325i e90, she drove car to her brothers no problem, went to leave, now it won't crank. Guess I'll check DME for moisture. Fob works for entry and such. Battery checked out, now a little worried, the kids tried to jump it under the hood with no improvements, hoping whatever the issue is, maybe protected the system from damage, fingers crossed.

I have a 2006 325i and I was having a weird rpm fluctuation problem, usually when its warmed up, it would go down to like 350 - 400 rpms then it would shoot itself back up to about 1200rpms and it would continuously bounce up and down until i held the throttle down into high rpms. I changed the plugs and it got wayyyy better for about a month and now it wont even start and the battery is dead. im going to get a new battery, correctly code it, and start somewhere near the MAF sensor, since i had some fuel coming out at the fuel rail.. any tips are greatly appreciated.

If I did fry my ecu and cas 3 could I replace it with one from a different car and used the other cars keys to get mine going again?...my bad its a 07 328i and I did try jump starting my car with the intelligent battery disconnect....saw your video a little late but it did teach me alot of not to do things
Dean, BMW Doctor your knowledge is outstanding, I've got a battery discharge over a couple of nights it isn't flat but the cluster info zeros ie clock to zero, mpg ect all to zero with a warning car on lift, and battery discharge shows up in writing. Ive taken it to be checked and they say there is no fault. I would love you to have a look at it as I believe you would find the fault. You don't live anywhere near Sheffield do you.

Hi my 2011 320d touring has an intermittent no crank no start problem. Its been to a bmw specialist and they replaced the battery then 3 days later it happened again. Went back to the garage and they had it 3 days and reprogrammed the CAS system it was fine for 3 days then happened again. Do you think it could be the IBS module. Many thanks Graham
What about if have a car that is a crank no start,. Can this still apply, Does the Cas and DME still need re syncing ?
How about a clutch switch for the manual cars? I have a no start issue, but I can push start the car. No clicking on attempt. So I'm thinking I have a clutch pedal switch issue. Do these cars have one?

Got a no-crank on a E61. Happened mid drive, stalled it, couldn't get it started again. Starts without issue on a push start but not on a battery/starter pack.
I connected power to the front terminals (low enough voltage to not fry anything) and no current was flowing so Im suspecting gnd connection or a relay. Any thoughts are appreciated

I need a help with my car no garage seems to find the issue… so i have a bmw 5 series 2012 manual and when i start the car in the morning or if i havent driving the car for a few hours its starts fine without issues but once i drive it for around 20 minutes and i turn it off i wont be able to turn it back on i tried everything power leads,starter motor checked battery voltage also on starter motor and alternator. Had it full diagnostic and got a couple codes but mainly it was 9307c2 - start/stop button short to b+. Sorry if doesnt make much sense ..
Hi, where is the fuel pump relay on the e60 530d (2006), my pump primes and shortly stops. Changed pump recently. I checked in fuse box in cabin, can't find it. The K96 relay.

anyone have any idea what to do with my E87 .Battery went totally flat car sat for 4 months i fully charged it getting 12.7 at the battery and at the terminals but just a click and whir sound no crank no start just Christmas Tree Dash the only thing i can see is the positive grounds from the battery to chasis have rusty bolts somehow inside the boot everything else looks normal also key fob works normal but has locked me out once or twice when its raining which concerns me any help appreciated
Hello my friend, I have a question that has bothered me for several years. I have a BMW, e60, 2010 model. I noticed when I was walking on a mountain road for an hour, especially in the summer, and after stopping and turning off the engine, if I tried to turn the engine after a few minutes, I hit the predecessor and the engine does not rotate (it dings a little and then the rbm counter drops to zero) and I had to wait for about an hour for it to start again successfully, noting that there is no warning message on the screen and this I only noticed while walking on a mountain road uphill. I put a new battery on car and all it does it make a click sound when trying to start, 09 328i 3.0. It shows a red car on a lift, a ! and a lot of other lights so not sure what it going on, have not registered the battery yet, waiting on a scanner tool that will allow me. **Steering lock doesn't lock anymore on this car, would that be an issue?
@BmwDoctor Hi Dean I’m having an issue with my 2006 E60M5 I was cleaning out my car with the doors open all of a sudden the interior lights cut off… I shut all the doors and proceeded to start the car my SMG gear lever never illuminated. I always cut my car off and leave it in reverse so when I went to restart it my car was stuck in reverse and I can’t get the gear lever to light up now

I have simular problem with no crank no start but after 10min of trying its does start and then it's start everytime but if I leave the car over night and then try to start I have same problem. But it seems in hot weather it usually start quicker but in colder weather it take long time time start it. And also after day or two it shows low battery. Something is draining battery.

I would but key in and only light would come on break paddle was hard as well. I went and replaced my realy, 4, number 5 amp fuses and 2 big green 30 amp fues and it fired up was running it the whole day all good it was even running better then before 100%, night time comes I park it, morning comes and it don’t start up again, just doing basically the same thing as this car I put my key in no crank just lights come on and break paddle is hard still, it’s a push to start as well HOPE U SEE THIS DAWGY OR SOMEONE

Hey I have a 2010 BMW 318i and the car was driving ok and starts ok, however I drove it about two Sundays ago and parked. The following morning I woke up to start it and warn the engine before I drove out, I got no crank no start but a symbol of a car sitting on a lift of some sort. The car opens and close (even tho it takes some time to sometimes) but just won’t start I changed the battery in the key fob but still nothing. I’m advised to reprogram the key but I’m iffy. Can you help
Note: it shut off on me twice before while’s I was driving about 5mph but I started it back up by putting it in neutral.

Very informative video IV been telling customers for years don't jump from the front of the engine.... It is relatively safe to jump from the rear direct. As you said IBS serves its purpose.
What about with a jumpbox?

My 2011 328i had a power drain issue that killed the battery and during jumping off the battery I believe I fried the Footwell module because of no interior lights, no window movement, headlights constant on and tail light but no brake light. I am ordering a new module to fix that problem and charged the battery but now the car is wanting to start but it won't turn over. What do you think is the reason for it not starting?
so what do you think is my issue with my 08 X5 that starts fine but after about 20 min to 30 min driving once i turn it off ill get a no crank , but ill get ignition ill then have to wait about 20 min everytime and it will then crank. there are no codes in the system, other than a seat adjustment issue

Hi mate I have a Bmw e60 530d 2005 m sport LCI and need help. I had it put in a garage for the stator motor replacing and in short words it fell out and damaged the starter motor because it wasn’t tightened correctly. Luckily the ring gear isn’t damaged. I’ve replaced the starter motor and now it won’t start at all first start motor turned out to be wrong one so I put another one on same and the original starter motor and still won’t start but now my key is stuck in the ignition and won’t realise and the ignition would stay on constantly but now the ignition has gone off but still won’t realise the key any idea what it could be ?? much appreciated if you could put me in right direction to get it fixed. Hi guys just wanted to ask, i got bmw auto joystick e61 520d 2008 i have got a problem with starting... when starting cold i can drive for 2/3h with no issue when turned off and then back on it wont start and comes up with all sort of codes seems like everything is broken then when cold again or deleted codes starts again fine....
Great video!! I have a 2006 e91 wagon. The car was running great. It sat there for a couple of days in the cold and the battery went dead. Went to the dealer, got a new battery, put it in. Now the car cranks but will not fire. Any suggestions as to where to start to diagnose this problem?

I have 325i, 2007, E93 Convertible. I have been switching the engine on / off recently when idle on traffic lights trying to be environmentally friendly. The other day, I switched it off and didn't start back again, no crank. i called the AA, checked the battery 12.6, all lights are working fine, however, when i use the key to open the car, I don't hear it priming anymore. i checked fuse 15 is fine, KL 30 relay no corrosion or burn mark on it. What could it be please?
I manually put the car in neutral with a screwdriver so i could move it its a 238i 2006 could that have anything to do with a no crank no start

I have 650i 2006 and my car won't start sometimes , i think starter overheating might cause the problem because december , january and february were cold and everything was fine , now its getting warmer and problem comes back. If i go somewhere and turn off the car after an hour driving it might not start and i have to wait 15min or even 30 min. Can you tell your opinion?

me and my friend where out driving in his e90 and he was trying to teach me stick and I staled it a few time and we had to bump start it to move the car I sent him a few tips that I thought where useful and if you have any other tips to help us out I would appreciate it

Was looking to replace the fuel pump relay as I got a code for the fuel pump and have replaced it and still no start.

6 month old bmw 730 battery ruined. Dash saying battery low power. Check crank and it was half the rated amount. So battery changed and new battery registered with bms to computer.
Still no crank. Checked terminals when key turned and even circuit 50 works.
Heard fuel heater causes drain. Anyway I reset transport mode because that was on. Still no crank.
Will check starter relay for pin 87. See if can juice the starter solenoid and get it to crank. Its a diesel this car.
Only fault codes now are blocked DPF but not sure if that would stop crank

I'm having A issue with my 650i where the car will crank but it will not run. It's not throwing any codes on the reader but on the dash it's saying that tpm sensor is bad but also saying the passenger seat belt is malfunctioning which could be affecting the airbag. But that's the only indicators it's giving. What could cause it to crank and not run.? It's a 2006

It was fine and in mint condition.
I drove it today and steering wheel was not straight wehn driving straight.
Went to drive about an hour later and then it wouldn’t start. All of these lights came on. Window wipers won’t stop either

HELLO we jumped this 2008 328i and now all the headlites, rearlights and dome lites are ON with car OFF..also car wont shift..is automatic..the guy also jumped the black relay under passenger glove box thought it was the starter relay but its a 4 prong black car access relay..so right after jumping car and this relay..all the lites stay on with car OFF and also it wont shift now..please help

Hi Dean, I came to my E60 this morning and I've got this problem. It was fine last night but it was raining bad. There's no water under my servo and I can't see any water under the passenger side, Nor any water in the boot.
If I undo the IBS my car does start as normal. When I reconnect it (ignition off) it won't crank or start again. Is it a big job to do and will I need any special tools etc?

I replaced a battery and jumped on NCIS expert to change the capacity, but I keep getting a problem, it tells me the VIN failed. Like the software can't access the VIN number. Do you know why that is? The car still won't crank or start.
Hi BMW doctor, Im from the US and I just recently bought a used 2006 E60. I had to replace a few minor things but hasn’t given me any big problems. However, when I put my key fob in the slot nothing happens, no crank, no start. The lights on my dashboard won’t even turn on. Now I thought it could be the CAS module under the steering wheel but wouldn’t I still be able to see dashboard lights? I don’t really know what it could be. Key fob works, new battery, and unlocks doors. If you have any tips, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hi , great video. I'm having issues with the Immobiliser being out of sync, happens randomly, once a month and I'm on the verge of just getting rid of the vehicle. 3 indy specialists just say come back when it happens, they can not give a reason as to why this is happening. Have you any ideas, its happening when using both keys? would a new key solve the issue? Could it be the battery in the fob its self? Any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi mate got the e90 was driving and car died so took battery home to recharge put it back on now ... put the key in the ignition then push the start button and everything goes off and car won't fire up any ideas
Check your IVM module. that fixed my problem with my 750 Li E66.. Change it and my car was like a new one.. I made a lot of searching to find the problem, best of all its easy to change and you don't have to code it.

@BMW Doctor I have a BMW e66 730d, all of a sudden it is generated the fault of not starting at all, key in prestatyn stop button foot on brake pedal nothing, error messages on the dashboard SOS call system failure!, Another message reads, safety system with a red logo of a man sat on a chair with a seat belt and an airbag, also buy radio doesn't work I cannot tune anything in at all etc, lots of things seem now not to be working, could this be the IVM?, OR DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS, apologies caps lock on, the battery on a car has been fully charged over 2 days, if it helps when I press the start stop button it does go duller, intermittently it will say on the dashboard press brake pedal to start, even though I do this it doesn't start, finally there is normally an audible beep noise when you put your key in the car, this is not even happening anymore.
I did think starter motor has gone, ... But it is obvious now the system is stopping it from starting for whatever reason you seem to be an expert on RUclips with regards to these cars, please could you give me your advice on what it could be, the car is now totally unusable until we can repair it, thanks so much in advance Rob from Yorkshire.

my E90 LCI experienced no start recently. when I checked the error code, CAS seems to be failure and also FRM problems. I have replaced a VGM battery and programed the CAS and FRM, it was fixed, but just a short time, about 2 weeks passed, CAS and FRM error still happen and I can heard clicking sound form the fuse box, sometimes the break light do not goes out when stop car even pull out the key. just want to know if the CAS problems would incur the FRM errors and fuse box misfunctioning. thank you for your advise.

E61 is a nightmare of a car electronically especially on that year so be careful

Found the issue 🙌🏻 got the battery charged was cranking but not starting (I’m thinking fuel). Fuel was low (but not massively) topped up with a can (1/4 tank)...starts...yay! But now I’m wondering why it’s not returning fuel 🤔 any ideas? 🙏🏼

Battery fine, but intermittent no start, happened first time a year ago, then 6 months ago, then 2 months ago, now 3 times in 2 days. Get lots of error messages on the display, last 3 times the windscreen wipers started working. Leave the car for 5 to 10 minutes and it starts and all is good. BMW 320D 2011 E90. Thanks.

good question ive got the same problem, only one tick and starter not going. over fully charged battery at home.. (still could be dead)
