the first seconds souded like a waterfall of japanese to me. haha. yesterday i met some japanese people in the skiresort where i work. I tried to talk japanese and i felt ドキドキ because the chance to meet japanese people is very low, so i have almost no talking expirience. we have more chinese tourists here.

Hey Miku, I came across your feed on Insta by accident recently and I really like it so I thought I'd check out your channel. This is the first episode I've watched and it's really good. It's fun and informative and you get across the information quickly and efficiently. By way of thank you, here's some constructive feedback (that you can of course feel free to ignore). Watch for mistakes on your onscreen notes! Typos, punctuation etc. Easy to fix and having no mistakes exudes quality! Another idea is to put a transcription of your main phrases into the notes. It's more work for you but a lot of students are looking for stuff they can copy-paste into ANKI. If you make it easier for them, you'll attract and keep more subscribers. E.g. after watching your video these are my notes which I throw into ANKI to practice.
何しようの?今、ごろごろしてる。 What are you doing? Nothing, lying around. (オノマトペ)

Miku Real Japanese It’s not just English typos, you’re doing it with the Japanese too. You wrote じゅうばん instead of じゅんばん, and you seem to keep mixing up things like くらい and ぐらい, くつ and ぐつ、etc. Please be careful! I like your lessons but you need to be more careful not to mislead people.

Great video, and I love these words! I never understood though why the Japanese call them 'onomatopoeia'. Onomatopoeia is a word that sounds like what it is describing (eg. buzz, hiss, sizzle). These Japanese words are 'reduplication'.

I think what is interesting about Japanese ideophones is the double repetition of the sound *absent from many European languages both modern and ancient eg Ancient Greek Splangknon for entrails..which perhaps comes from the Sino habit of repeating a Kanji to emphasize or double up the meaning, eg Good Good, Strong Strong..in ancient use Chinese characters. There are of course alternatives to ideophonic speech in Japanese and overuse of them can tend to sound a little unsophisticated or too casual depending on context. It can sound a bit like baby talk to the untrained foreign ear!
