I’ve been studying Japanese since 2016. Thousands of hours in. And this video is in my top 10 easy. Informational, and grabbed my attention with very little special effects, just beautiful history kept me content . Thank you so much.

I'm deeply in love with this sanpodcast series. This is the best learning source for me in RUclips so far. It is really smooth to relisten to ground the new vocabulary and learn about culture, what actually helps with the language. Also, there is the stunning visuals. Thanks for this Miku-sensei.

I vividly remember being breath taken in Ueno Park, the small water channels were covered with fallen floating Sakura, like you mentioned; scattered like an ephemeral carpet. I like wabi-sabi, this is the first time I have learnt this aesthetic, simplicity/minimalism and quiet/lonely/solitude. Truely beautiful, in the absence of harsh symmetry, perfection and over stimulation.

These philosophy videos are AMAZING. I think I’m gonna rewatch them all multiple times. Great resource to learn the language and culture.

    10年ほど前、ドイツからまいりました。京都や関西のこと忘れられへんで。めっちゃええ人をあえて嬉しい。嵐山や清水寺や平等院に行ったことがあって懐かしい。 動画を配信して、ほんまに感謝しとるです。「ツーリスト禁止」最近の京都はちゃうねん、先ず、「え?なんやこれ?」と思ったんです。ツーリストは芸者の髪を引いて、「あんたら、あほちゃうの。。。何でほかの人の髪を」と。

I miss Kyoto so much! I just want to discover and enjoy it more! 素晴らしくて静か京都が大好きです。京都にはたくさんの歴史的と文化的遺産が有ります。京都のお寺とお神社の建築は美しい、庭園で茶道を楽しむことと生け花を見ることは素敵!春の時に桜の満開景色を見に行きたい。日本の千年古都は最高!

What a fantastic video! It has some simple sentences, some more complex sentences and repeats a lot of vocabulary so you get multiple exposures. Thank you! This is such a great formula for language learners. Plus it's educational. I'd love to see some similar videos but maybe about a single activity. One for playing music, one for sports, one for cooking, etc. Thanks!

Great video. Very useful for me because you do not try to avoid more difficult topics but explain them in a simple way that is easily understandable. Great tool for building my vocabulary and reinforcing grammar points that I have already learned. ほんとにありがとうございました!次のエピソードを激しく待っています!

    Miku先生、お疲れ様でした!今回の動画もとても面白くて、日本についての色々なことも学びました。私は中国人ですが、中国の美意識はわびさびと以外と似ていますよね。わびさびと比べて、日本文化を学ぶだけじゃなくて、違う視点から自分の文化を見て、理解したりできましたね!本当にありがとうございます!

Is wabi Sabi related to Zen, a kind of sabishii , a solitary lifestyle of being alone in quiet meditation to face your beautiful true self?

I've been back and for to Japan for many years and this was such an excellent explanation of wabisabi. Thank you Mike Sensei. And you asked about what is considered beautiful in our countries. I live on the west coast of Canada. I’d say untouched and remote nature, true wilderness, is considered to be very beautiful. Of course I also love the cultivated nature of Japanese gardens and temples!
