    How is clip studio on an 8-inch feels like? is the size of drawing area pretty good? Does it feel crampy, or is there no problem with an 8-inch x a csp? I'm planning to switch from a 12-inch device to a smaller one, and most of the choices that suit my needs are an 8-inch size. Wondering if the ui feel cramped or too crowded. Thanks!

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  Год назад

      Thanks for the question! As far as the size, both the mini 5 and 6 do not feel cramped if you just have CSP open. I find them to be more than acceptable for sketching and even proper illustration! When it comes to something like a comic or animation it can start to feel lacking and if you want to multi task while drawing it does not offer much room. As I say in another video if you approach the mini as a digital sketchbook youll be pleasantly surprised at how much more it can do! I hope that helps if you have any other questions please let me know!

    Why clip studio has only three stars rating on iPad? Is there anything wrong compare to android ver. or desktop ver?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 года назад

      Hello and thank you for the question. There could be many reasons people downgrade the rating. Maybe users experienced a bug or had compatibility issues with older iPads. They might also be upset about the subscription fees but in my experience there is not much difference between the desktop, android and iPad version of Clip studio. In fact I do most of my work on the iPad version of clip studio with confidence!

    Im curious what the "wii" controller is being used for? I couldn't decide if u were just stemming or if it was being used to control clip studio?

      @tsukepen  3 года назад

      Hello and thank you for the comment! I've made a video on this controller ruclips.net/video/kMunyXC6_Eo/видео.html it has been a huge help with my workflow on iPad. It acts like a bluetooth keyboard and with apps like clip studio and artsudio you can remap shortcuts and use it! Unfortunately procreate and many other apps don't allow you to remap shortcuts and it is not so useful in those apps.

    Nice video - i love the iPad Mini 5 for drawing too as it is super light and compact. Saw 2 interesting tech gear in yr video- The Tabmate now runs on iOS?? What keyboard cover are you using in the video? Thanks

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад +1

      Hello and thank you for the comment! I also love the mini for drawing at home and especially on the go! So that is not the clip studio tabemate! It is called the utopia360 VR controller or something like that. Unfortunately the tabmate is windows exclusive as far as I know.
      I have made a video on this controller and you can watch it here
      ruclips.net/video/kMunyXC6_Eo/видео.html
      There are also similar controllers on the market basically it acts like a keyboard and can connect to iOS!
      The keyboad is the old magic keyboard for macs and the cover is apples smart cover for the mini5. I hope that helps if you have any questions please feel free to ask!

    do you think the ipad Mini would be a good tool to design a full page manga? or go to a larger ipad?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад +1

      I have drawn manga on a variety of sized iPads. The middle size is of course more comfortable but the mini 5 is perfectly capable of drawing manga. When it comes to adding text etc it does become more challenging on the small screen.
      My general advice is if you don't own an iPad the middle one is probably the best balance of size, portability, performance and price! The mini is excellent if you already own a drawing device and go out a lot and want a portable drawing tablet!

    hi, what is best for drawing comic/manga style on ipad mini 6, CSP or procrate?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 года назад +1

      Hello and thank you for the comment! There are a lot of great options on the mini 6. Clipstudio paint is my preferred way to draw comics and manga on ipad. It offers the best set of tools and features to make comics or manga style illustrations. Procreate is also decent but lacks in features to make long comics with multiple pages. I also like artstudio pro for drawing illustrations in a comic/manga style! Medibang might be a good option too but I dont have much expereince with it. I have many videos on this topic and free procreate manga style brushes, you can find more details here ruclips.net/video/e-6Qvs10Zho/видео.html

    Question: iPads vs Lenovo Chromebook Duet?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад +3

      Hello and thank you for the question! It is maybe a little more complicated because there are various iPad models and sizes but only one Chromebook Duet... Overall I strongly feel any iPad with the apple pencil offers a superior drawing experience to most other tablets. The place where the chromebook duet is advantageous is with the price and the 2-1 design. If you can work with clip studio paint (subscription) and say one note, like I do, then the chromebook duet can be a great all in one device while you are on the go. If drawing is your priority and you dont need to take notes or do other tasks the iPad is a way better device and offers many more drawing apps and the overall experience is better. You can also get good deals on refurbished iPads directly from apple. My 9.7 inch iPad pro is getting older now but still perfectly functional for my drawing work, so dont feel pressured to get the newest model! I hope that helps if you have any other questions please let me know.

    Hi there! Thank you so much for your awesome work! Despite, or rather due to ipad mini 6 being announced, I'm now considering to purchase ipad mini 5, as the price has finally dropped further. And watching your videos have given me further confidence that it is the right choice for me. I personally have a 12.9 2018 ipad pro for heavy note taking and University work, but find it much too bulky to bring anywhere with me. (Also, I tend to do smaller drawings and find myself cropping the screen sized canvas on procreate after each session.)
    I would like to ask you if you think 64gb is sufficient for digital art and note taking? I plan to designate my ipad mini for those two functions. (And Reading, of course).
    Thanks! Greetings from Germany!

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад

      Hello and thank you so much for the comment! I appreciate the kind words and I do plan to give some thoughts on the mini 5 in 2021 with the mini 6 release. I was perfectly capable of using the mini 5 for all kinds of work, even typing can be pleasant in a vertical orientation with your thumbs. Of course the larger screen and USB c are very nice additions for ease of use but if you don't mind the lightning port it can be a good option if you find a nice price! Im sure like Japan Germany is also expensive when it comes to technology haha it's hard to say about 64gb I always recommend 256 because it's more comfortable for a variety of applications but if you know exactly what you'll be doing and have backup solutions or cloud services then 64 gb may work. The OS and a few apps could end up taking up quite a bit of that space so it would be best to see what file sizes you'll be dealing with for notes and drawings! In general I love the mini 5, it feels very similar to using half the screen on a larger iPad haha the portability is excellent and I often find myself browsing the web and videos with it! I hope that helps if you have any questions feel free to ask!

    • @jenniferhalim9991
      @jenniferhalim9991 3 года назад

      @@tsukepen thank you for your excellent tips (and speedy reply)! Yes, as you guessed, tech devices are much more expensive here in Germany compared to the US. As I'm moving to the UK soon, it will only get more expensive... hence my last minute decision to get the ipad mini 5 before the move..
      I shall take your advice to heart and opt for the 256gb one, as I too am worried about the system updates that will inevitably eat up too much space.
      Another question: do you use any screen protector on your ipad? I have a genuine paperlike one on my 12.9 pro, which is excellent when taking notes for hours and hours on end, but I am considering to have a normal one or just go without to preserve the display quality. The rainbow effect is getting annoying... Do you think it is imperative to get one? I am slightly concerned about damaging the screen if I go without, as I plan to use it for at least 5 years ahead. (Ambitious, I know)
      Again, many thanks!

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад

      It's one of the toughest things leaving the US... Tech prices are surprisingly cheap there haha but apple products do last a long time and hold their value. My 9.7 inch pro is still functional now, but of course with several updated and many files the larger storage does come in handy. Also one thing I thought I should mention, if your iPad uses the 2nd gen apple pencil you could end up saving some money with the mini 6. Getting a 1st gen apple pencil could add about 100 dollars so it is something to consider in the final total.
      As far as the screen protector goes I don't use one on any of my devices, I have been drawing digitally for years and have gotten accustomed to the plastic on glass feeling haha I personally like the smart cover to protect the iPad and it gives a nice drawing angle but if you like the texture on the screen I'm sure it'll be a good investment!

    • @jenniferhalim9991
      @jenniferhalim9991 3 года назад

      @@tsukepen Again, thank you so much for your advice! Yes, including the 1st gen apple pencil the ipad mini 5 ends up to be 120 euros cheaper than mini 6 without apple pencil, making the difference slimmer than the initial 220 euros. I shall think about it a bit longer.. I actually prefer the older ipad design, as there is more space to hold for the hand when reading eBooks. But the USB C connection and support for the 2nd gen apple pencil is quite tempting, not to mention the longer iOS support in the next few years.
      And yes, I'll definitely get a flip cover for any model I end up buying. I use that for the pro as well and the 30° tilt has been most helpful when writing or sketching for a long time!
      Glad to hear that your screens are safe without any protectors. Perhaps I'll go without this time.

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  3 года назад

      No problem at all! I plan to do a video so it's good practice haha one thing to mention is with USB c plugging in an SSD or USB stick becomes a lot easier and with files offloading drawings can be an easier process than with the lighting port. Depending on the drive you need a specific connector that delivers power while having a USB A port. It works with certain drives but it's not ideal. I wish the base storage for the mini 6 was 128gb which would make things more balanced...
      But I think regardless you will find a good option! I have been very satisfied with the mini 5 and I'm sure the 6 will be a bit more comfortable. You could also check apples own refurbished section to see if there is anything at a decent price!

    can question manga can be drawn on it?

    • @tsukepen
      @tsukepen  2 года назад

      Hello and thank you for the question! You can definitely draw manga on apps like clip studio paint but I would say it depends on your needs as far as canvas size, number of layers, DPI and number of pages. A few pages of a4 300 DPI 20 layers per page project may run well but having a larger file size with many pages will most likely affect performance on the mini.
