    About Jackson:
    Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines-highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance. From metal’s chart-topping peaks to its darkest recesses, for discerning guitarists all over the globe, Jackson is the only way to go.

    For everyone bitching, It's not your signature model. He used them in the studio and on tour, so he needs them to his specs. Don't like a Floyd Rose? Block the trem. Don't like Blackouts? Install passive pickups. Don't like the inlays? Don't buy the fucking guitar then, it wasn't made for you. Do I like everything about this guitar? No. If I designed it, it would have a non revered headstock on the 7, Ebony fingerboard (I know it's rosewood to keep the price lower), and a slightly longer scale on the 7(26.5"), but do I bitch about the specs? No, it's not my fucking signature model. FUCK. Rant over.

    Does it have a reverse headstock on the 7 so that the thicker strings have more length improving the sound?
    Same principal as the fan fret guitars?
    Or does this not matter because the nut is still straight?

    • @donnythei
      @donnythei 6 лет назад +1

      It's kinda fan fret, the low B string will not sound floppy because the tuning peg is far from the guitar nut

    • @bencepatyi4032
      @bencepatyi4032 2 года назад

      It doesnt matter, because the two contact points of the string are always the bridge and the nut, and the nut is straight on this guitar. The remaining string behind the nut does not affect the tone, especially on locking nut guitars, like Corey’s. But it can resonate, and can be annoying, when you are trying to record stuff :D

  • @5urg3x

    I do agree on that a reverse headstock looks WAY better on a 7 string guitar than on a 6. As for not having the unfinished neck -- that's fine, as long as it's a satin / matte finish and not glossy on the back of the neck -- it will still be smooth and fast and it won't gloop up when you sweat. But, as for this guitar sounding good for clean tones? Come on Corey...You didn't even put a damned tone knob on it! And Duncan Blackouts SUCK for clean tones...they fucking suck! So compressed, so sterile, so loud -- the output on them is just way too high and ridiculously loud to play clean tones, or even mid gain tones to be honest. For Trivium's type of music, for that full high gain distortion, yeah, they're amazing for that, but that's it.

    • @Sean1547
      @Sean1547 8 лет назад +1

      Not sure if you've ever owned ahb-1s but they actually sound fantastic clean with the volume rolled back, I prefer their cleans to most of my passives

    • @5urg3x
      @5urg3x 8 лет назад

      +Sean Moran
      Yes, I had the 7 string versions in my Prestige Ibanez...They were only good for high gain. With the volume rolled back they sounded awful...So compressed, no dynamics at all...With passive pickups generally you roll the volume back and it changes the entire tone...With actives usually you roll the volume back and it's the same tone, just quieter -- since it's compressed to shit with the preamp. This is great for high gain tones but for anything else it's shitty...Also the fact that they can't be coil tapped is also a huge downside. They are are just too high output to play clean tones on...

    • @WhoAmIWill
      @WhoAmIWill 8 лет назад +2

      +surgeyX they're good for the clean tone he needs. unless you're playing blues or jazz you almost never need a tone knob.

    • @5urg3x
      @5urg3x 8 лет назад

      Are you familiar with Josh from Sylsosis? He stated in a video he uses the tone knob all the time, on distorted high gain tones; as many metal players do. If you want I'll find the video for you...

    • @MrPickleNutz1
      @MrPickleNutz1 7 лет назад

      Correct me if I'm wrong but, and I KNOW that both Matt and Corey trade off on lead a lot, BUT....With Matt being primarily "lead" and Corey "rhythm", with leads benefiting more from single coil/dual pickup combos for a "cleaner tone" whereas with rhythm metal....it's all about having dual humbuckers, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Jackson's. So for Corey's PURPOSE? Yea the damn thing sounds CLEAN as hell IMO.

    • @5urg3x
      @5urg3x 9 лет назад +1

      +Luis Valdivia
      Glossy guitar suck -- at least for the neck. It looks like a coffee table or something -- it's an instrument, not a piece of furniture. That is the most important part to me anyway, the back of the neck-- neck finishes in gloss are a horrible idea - it is a recipe for disaster if you play it on stage and sweat at all - On the body I don't mind it but I'd still prefer matte or satin. Not only does it look better, but if you sweat while playing, it won't build up on the guitar finish, it rolls off of it. Also, I don't think Corey has ever played a hard tail, lol. He's always had a floyd. Robot tuners are kind of dumb -- If you want stable tuning, the Evertune bridge is the best solution for that IMHO. They will have a tremolo version soon enough.

    • @JustinDiazJokes
      @JustinDiazJokes 9 лет назад

      well something like the black jackson he used on in waves would have been cool. i am really tired of the whole matte black fad it looks tacky, except on an ESP ECLIPSE II VB. i couldnt care less on the neck. i hate when people complain that "sweat builds up" and "slows you down" really? have you no strength to get over it. i know it gets stick at sometimes because other sweat more. but it isnt "a recipe for disaster" (a bit too dramatic). you guys act like if the neck is covered with epoxy at that point. he posted a picture on insta/twitter of a string thru guitar and mentioned adding robotuners. i actually asked him about it and he said it could have been in the production but he just kept the floyd to match his other guitars. i dont know, we all have our preferences, i would have liked the black jackson from in waves with his name on it. similar to what matt did with his LPC.

    • @5urg3x
      @5urg3x 9 лет назад

      +Luis Valdivia
      Lol, I think that orange flame top one 7 he has from the Chapman sessions is my favorite of all Corey's guitars. I do agree though that matte black is really a dumb "fad" for metal guitars -- but the market is like, black, white, grey / silver -- that's it.

    Corey dude I know you hate the Tone knob but seriously OTHER PEOPLE USE IT! I will never understand not putting a tone knob on a mass market selling guitar, if you don't like it, just move it out of the way somewhere that you're not likely to hit it accidentally while playing, and make it so it's bypassed unless you pull it up (push / pull), like Misha from Periphery does.
    It's fine on YOUR custom but for the one everyone else can buy, not having it is a deal breaker for me. I'm not spending 800 something bucks on a guitar and then buying a tone pot and putting it in myself or paying a luthier to do that for me -- fuck that.

If he wants that for his own custom that's fine but if you're going to do this on a guitar that's going to be mass produced then that's retarded...they are purposely losing sales because of it. I would have bought this otherwise. What is the downside of putting a push / pull tone knob that is bypassed when you pull up on it like Misha Mansoor does on his models?
