1980s thrash metal bands rarely used guitars not made by either Jackson or ESP. The occasional Ibanez or BC Rich crept in from time to time, but not often. I agree, for me Megadeth was also the poster band for Jackson; even Ellefson plays Jackson basses, which is rare to see.
Don't forget Jeff Hanneman and Phil Collen and their soloists. Hanneman's is far and away the most famous Soloist anyone has ever played. Also the reason I stickered and tagged everything I owned in Middle and high school with punk and metal logos.
Back in the 80s it was Kramer,Charvel, and Esp who took the spotlight for metal guitars. Then Jackson was shortly after until Randy Rhoads started playing Jackson's,then they became famous.
You just sold me on this guitar, being a huge Megadeth fan. Megadeth is my absolute hands down, #1 favorite band & learning that they're the ones that inspired your choice of guitar, I'm ordering one now.
Looks badass. I've had a Jackson Warrior for around 8 years and still sounds good and stays in tune, which is more than I can say for my Les Paul or the BC rich Beast. I do love the Beasts look though. Jacksons V"s are wicked.
Anybody know why Jackson doesn’t make a 6 string reverse headstock King V? Is it a logistics thing? Is it because they don’t sell? Is it because they’re exclusive to some of the Randy Rhoads signatures? Always been curious...
@@abbasahmedlp Yeah exactly, I’ve seen that one and it looks gorgeous, but Mick said it’s not practical for when he performs on stage, so it’s highly unlikely we’ll see a signature of it for sale. I’ve just always wondered why it isn’t a standard, because it looks so bad ass! I’d have them in droves if they made them that way..
Because Jackson in the last couple of years is doubling down on the 80s hair metal nostalgia, there's like a dozen different Dinky and Soloist model while Kelly/Warrior/KV gets discontinued. Forget reverse headstock, they don't even offer hardtail models of most of their iconic shape past the beginner JS series. The only reverse headstock RR is the RR24 and RRX24, and that's likely to differentiate it from the regular 22 frets Rhoads.
Jackson, let me tell you my story: 2018 I bought a Pro King V KVT Snow White almost without testing. It was my first Jackson since the 80s and I put 800 Euros of faith in you. What was suppoesed to be a classic hardrock/metal guitar for a lifetime with a classic Gibson-style bridge and JB/59 PUs turned out to be a nightmare. Even my luthier could not get a decent setup on that guitar. We failed in getting these strings to ring and sing. Whatever adjustment we did choose, the strings seemed unwilling to give a good sound. I am aware, that a metal guitar is not a Tele and there is some good reason for this genre not to sound too bright, but this guitar sounded muffled and dull. The nightmare wet on when I found out the the locking tuners could not hold the tunng at all, the white coating was sticky as hell, it took a long time to get it clean and my advice for the owners of such guitars is: Never remove the trussrod cover, never look into any cavitiy cause the woodworking was so bad you would assume a 100$ china copy. Now, in 2020, I see the pro line got even more expensive. Hope you stopped wasting peoples hard earned money.
I always wanted a king V so bad, then I found out about the Ultra V and that they would make me one exactly like my concept drawings from 9th grade, maple and walnut with gold hardware. Never looked back, though I'd pick up a Jackson if the price was right
The only miss for me is not having a tone knob. This is the only thing keeping me from purchasing it at this point. I’m going to have to drill in to it and install one if I buy it. Everything else looks fantastic.
I got the kv7q, what a disaster. Corey really needs to talk about QC issues with Jackson. Bad frets (sharp and uneven), neck pickup half the volume as bridge, tuners creaking and stiff, winter storm finish was yellow, fricken yellow! The pickups were lopsided and couldn't be evened out without being 1mm from strings. The action had to be so high due to the uneven frets it was not enjoyable to play. I loved the idea of this guitar, looks amazing in pictures and was my first 7 string, but I was so heartbroken to pay so much for what I thought was an amazing guitar, until I had it in my hands. Corey if you ever see this, you need to do something because your name is being dragged through the mud with this model.
How does this guy have the sickest possible tone in metal? Also -- that translucent finish is amazing. Fuck I want to buy this, but no stainless frets :|
The tone doesn't always come from just the guitar obviously amp and settings, pedals etc also make a difference but ultimately the tone lies in your fingers.
9, 11, 16, 26, 36, 46, 56. Typcially they use the brand Daddario from the factory. Corey actually uses a custom set by Dunlop which is 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 52, 63.
Doesn't really matter, the USA Select aren't production anymore, they're just a base spec template that you can customize (Custom Select). If you want a KV2T you can just swap out the OFR for a TOM in the spec sheet.
I’ll never understand how someone who loves playing guitar so much could not at all care about what makes one so amazing. They could have specked it out like shit and he wouldn’t at all know how to argue about the difference
I already ordered one for my birthday in 4 weeks, I have wanted one of your guitars for some time now and finally I will have one, my first seven string ever \m/
Jackson, what you sell to your customers as a pro instrument for a grand or more is actually so bad, so poorly made, I would guess it is a 100$ dollars no-name guitar if you cover the headstock. And they sound horrible!

Got mine a couple of months ago. Instantly loved it. Even the cheap model I bought is awesome.

I remember the red 7 string king v he used to use with the reversed head stock and unfinished neck. Just a nice classic looking king v

So I bought the 7 string and it’s a powerhouse. The finish on it is gorgeous in person.
How does it play? Because I’m strongly considering purchasing it even though it’s gonna take forever to get to Australia
