Thank you for this video. We bought a house in the summer which came with this washing machine and the washer stopped doing the spin cycle recently. We were reluctant to buy a new washer due to the cost and found this repair video. We were able to order the part and repair the washer ourselves.
This was extremely helpful, not just for fixing the machine, but also the heads up on looking for cheap parts online. Thanks Scott. You saved us parts and labor costs.
kool, I have a Kenmore He2, front load. Older model, no front digital hardware. Yesterday the spin refused to work and getting the door unlocked was next to impossible. The laundry was soaked. Your video looks like this might be my answer. Thanks..
This is exactly what's going on with mine. Were you able to figure it out? To get door unlocked, i have to start it again. As soon as i here the door clicking, i stop it to unlock door
1/10/2019 - Update - the solution worked! Now my washer is able to wash and spin dry! I have a Kenmore Model 417 and it has the exact symptom as in your video - the spin cycle does not spin. The laundry are still very wet and the cycle stops very quickly. Will be replacing the door latch soon and give an update.

Hello, Can you help with a Diplomat 8512 (old) not spinning. I’ve done what you said in video but do not have same terminal in the lock also it’s an integrated one too
Scott. I just replaced the lock assembly but this did not solve the problem. The diagnostics run does not show any error codes. I see that you have recommended a new motor control board but wouldn't this create an error code. Thank you in advance! Mark
Thanks Mark, I think the MCU can be bad even without codes. May be good to try taking off wire connections to MCU and then put them back on to see if that helps.
Hey Scott - thanks for doing this video. I am having a similar problem. I noticed mine was stuck on the final spin stage, not spinning, and making a loud noise that sounded like it was coming from the motor area. Not sure what it did during the other stages, but there wasn't any water in the tub. I sent you an e-mail yesterday about it. Does it sound like it could be the locking mechanism like you show here, or something else?
Thanks for the info. Question for you, my drum does spin but the final spin cycle stops after short fast spin and then the door locks and stops before finishing. Diagnostic error is a F01 (control board?). Do you think it is clearly the board (duh?!) and NOT the lock because the door is able to lock before the cycle finishes? I have a Kenmore He2t front load. Thanks!
Scottthefixitguy thanks for help with your videos. I checked the control unit connections and inspected the board. It all looked OK. It is odd that it can run a cycle on Med Spin but has trouble on high spin and heavier loads. If it stops prematurely we have to re-run a rinse at Medium. Thanks again!
Hi, which model is this washer? we have a Kenmore HE2 front loader. I'm wondering if that's the same issue with mine. The motor doesn't attempt to spin at all. with the back off the tub rotates freely and the belts are snug to the motor so the motor isn't locked up. Thinking it could be that switch.
My Maytag Neptune won't Spin or Drain. I put a new pump in today. Still no S or D. It Will fill with water tho. Could the door latch still be the problem?
Hi, when you say the door lock is bad, are you saying it actually does not lock, or that the machine mistakenly thinks it is not locked? My door seems to be locked, i.e. I can not open it during the cycle, but then it starts the spin cycle and starts draining fine at first, but doesn't make it into the higher spin speeds.
Hi just wondering what solution did u find for this issue. Seems like I am having same issue. Clothes came out quite heavy. But not dripping. I did a extra cycle of drain/spin and got half a liter of water.
We have a Samsung front load. it only does this in the spin cycle. Seems to work in the wash cycle, but your video exactly describes what is happening. could it still be the for lock?
I have the same model. It keeps getting stuck or jammed during various points during the cycle and it wont spin. Even by hand, it cannot be spun. 2 months ago, I took the motor apart and noticed the bearing retainer clip was destroyed and so I removed it and greased the bearings and put it all back together. It had the same symptoms of getting stuck/jamming during the cycle. I worked for a few loads and now its stuck again. checked the belt and it was snug. So I took the belt off without spinning the drum or motor and once the belt was off both the motor and drum were able to spin freely without any resistance... What could be causing it to jammed or stuck to the point where the drum wont spin (even by hand) but will spin freely once the belt is off. My guess is it is the motor bearings again and/or the belt. Any help is appreciated.
I replaced the door latch, cleaned out the drain and checked the belt (which seems fine) and my washer still isn’t entering the high speed spin. The only washer repairman in my area can’t come out for months. Any tips?
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you so much! I finally got it working again about an hour ago. I pulled the filter out again and there was a dryer sheet hidden in there. I had to use tweezers to get it out. I have no idea how a dryer sheet ended up in my washer though. Lol!

Hi Scott! Thanks for the video. I have a Kenmore/Frigidaire front load washer (circa 2003). It fills with water and will drain but it won't agitate or spin the wash basket. I took off the back and checked the belt, made sure the motor didn't look or smell burned, no funny noises when spinning the wash basket by hand. So I then went ahead and replaced the door latch mechanism like you suggested in your video. That did not work. What would you suggest I look at or do next? Should I just buy a new washer?

Even with those signs of good function, there is a contact in the switch that isn’t closing and not allowing the controller to send power to the motor.
