Focusing on ingredients over products is what I used to write about back when I had a science skincare blog. It’s so important and really does help you learn how to cut through the bullshit. Then it just comes down to efficacy (formulation).
Absolutely agree 💯 I do this with everything including food and clothes. As long as the ingredients, efficiency, consistency are to my liking, I always look for the best deal. I have no interest in paying for brand names nor their marketing. I want the product that suits me best (ethically as well) at the best price.
I cannot believe how much drugstore prices have gone up! I definitely find myself buying the store brands when all I'm looking for is the active ingredient. Even though I don't have acne, I do get an occasional "something" on my face and it's been so great to learn from you about the K-beauty hydrocolloid patches. Thank you!
I am very flustered by it!! It was one thing to get all those price increases at the beginning of 2023, but …what on earth, we got another round for 2024!? It’s too much! 😩
I use the panoxly under my armpits as my last step in my shower a couple times a week n leave it on for 2 minutes or so n it kills odor causing bacteria! I can't use fragrance body products so this is amazing in giving me a total 'clean' no bo smell!
You articulated this beautifully! Some things I'm brand-loyal (Bounty paper towels, the cheap ones are cheap for a reason), but pantry staples are whatevers on sale. Currently researching store-brand cerave
I agree with you that I prefer some products because of their formulation, such as Avene's Retrynal and others in which I am more flexible, such as creams, exfoliants, as long as they are not very aggressive, hydrating toners and vitamin C. A hug Alice and I hope you are very well 🌷
Thank you so much for making these videos and creating this content. I always learn, get inspired and love how structured and well explained you talk and how simple and clear you show everything (timestamps, links, ingredient lists with marked ingredients) I normally do not comment, but its a while now that I watch and so I want to thank you! ❤
I'm half way through this video and we have yet to address this Amazing hat!!! 👏 ❤ I freaking love it. I think it would be a a huge hit if you did a compilation video of all your hats, or yiu do a live video fashion show of your hats/headbands ect ect. I think your tub would be called a jar or vessel?
I absolutely have this mentality with my skincare! My never-go-without products are (also) Stratia Lipid Gold and SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (that one hurts my soul lol) and every other ingredient that I like to keep in my routine I'm not a loyalist on brand by any means. SPF aside, I always like to have honey/propolis, aloe and/or centella somewhere in my routine for calming, and prescription retinoid and exfoliating acids for my actives but I like to experiment on the type of product and the formulation to see what's the best fit for my skin type :)
Thx for introducing Chogongjin to me . I’ve been using the Youngan Cream day & night consistently since mid Nov. I love the texture !!! I’ll definitely continue using it . Looking forward to more of your offering for 2024 ! 🥰
Cute hat. Speaking of adapalene, Dr Dray recently did a walgreen's shopping video and when she stopped by the neutrogena products, they have adapalene for $42 (on the neutrogena site it's $30)! Have you seen that PanOxyl has a 2% SA product (that I've seen compared to the Paula's Choice one)?
I believe it! I noticed the cleanser I bought is less expensive at Target (granted I used a $5 off $10 on it so I still paid less - I think it all depends on coupons/rewards!) I really don’t know much about panoxyl, but now that I’ve noticed their prices are better and their formulas seem good…I’ll be checking out more of their products for sure!
I was able to score Walgreens adapalene in the larger 1.6oz tube for $15.29 ea after a BOGO 50% off offer plus an add’l pickup in store promo code discount. Normally the .5oz cost this much. I actually used the same combo to pickup a few other skincare products. Ended up cheaper then Amazon.
Hi Alice. I learned so much from this video. You just added a couple of items I need for my skin barrier. I’m also glad you mentioned the Bifida Ferment Lysate. I have been using Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair for years, but it is very pricey. Also love the beret. Red is your color.😍 And I am so envious of your blonde hair. I find it’s so difficult to maintain blonde hair, especially if you’re not in the sun often.
I went through three bottles of ma:nyo and forgot to repurchase. My skin barrier has been compromised and I couldn’t figure out why until I watched your video. Thanks for enlightening me. ❤
@AliceintheRabbitHole I'll have to get that. I've been spoiled. Never had to worry about skin barrier. Had reaction FAB cream one with colloidal oatmeal in big tub (limousine, limoloo - sp?) Interestingly, FAB Arnica relief & Rescue Mask really helped.
Love love looooove the panoxyl 4% cream wash! It’s been controlling my breakouts without overly drying my skin. Haven’t tried the 10% foam wash but the cream wash can sting if I leave it on for more than 2 minutes 😬 so I’m good with the 4%.
That’s exactly how I feel too. I try to let it sit on my skin briefly, but if I let it sit just a BIT too long…ouch lol. It’s a very fine line with that ingredient!!
Just to say it's a great idea for a video. I feel the same way as you in terms of ingredients or slots in my routine (retinoid, some active for hyperpigmentation etc).
Hi Alice because I trust you, I took a gamble and bought the Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptides and a knock-off N*face. (As a nurse, anything with “mucin” in the name makes me green…This was a huge leap of faith!) Do you think you could extend the idea budget-friendly alternatives that are potentially better (or more effective/offer more actives, etc) like Snail Snot (can’t help myself) instead of expensive name-brand zapping serums????
First off, I wanted to thank you for helping me navigate the area of asian cosmetics. I was wondering if you could do a review of the Skinmiso Rice Cleansing Foam?
Alice! Hi! The Cerave is $12.80 on AMZ! There’s also a literal dupe for cheaper. Ulta prices are always insane to me lol but the discounts + points system is amazing. Yeah I’m pretty much like you, some formulations are staples but I will go for the cheaper option with price increases and I mostly get my skincare on sale.
Ooh thanks for the heads up! I’ve found Amazon to have mostly higher prices, but it might be that I’m looking at K-Beauty (and reminded of why I shop stylevana, slow shipping and all LOLLL)
Just want to say that I have been recommending the Lion Pair to friends with rosacea as well as acne for its anti-inflammatory results. Suspect it would be helpful for perioral dermatitis for the same reasons.
I tried and really like the Lion Pair Acne cream. It does contain Ibuprofen, which my husband can not tolerate. Of course he tried it, UGH!! 🙄 Just made everything worse! 😜 Stratia Lipid Gold is also my "go to". As far as peptides, I usually stick with The Ordinary Multi-peptide w/ Copper Peptide. I bought the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1% during the "slowvember" sale 50% off. However, if I like it a lot, I'd still only buy it at 50% off, this is way over my budget. You are looking fabulous!! Many blessings!!💖💖💖
Oh gosh so sorry to hear! Allergies are no fun at all Mmhmm, it does sound like the NIOD is worth it at the 50% off discount! I love knowing that I can always come back to TO’s though, and that it won’t break the bank! 😁
Btw, I want to thank you for reminding people that it is not normal for non-influencers to be spending every spare cent they have on makeup and skincare with the expectation that it will change their lives. I have changed my whole relationship with “stuff” lately and you have definitely helped reinforce it.
YESSSS to BP in a cleanser!!! I got the buy one get one deal the last time they ran it... But gave one away to my son's friend who was asking for acne help. Good to know about Panoxyl... I become OBSESSED with a specific ingredient and buy EVERYTHING...I did it with Azelaic acid to see which textures and formulas worked best. I find I'm not picky but will go overboard trying EVERY option available 😅
Ingredients align in my mind with purpose. I set up my product routine based on purpose and will always have a hydrating toner, retinol/tret serum, peptide product, etc. etc. Formulation or product align with quality. This is where I choose what product I want to serve the purpose based on efficacy, cosmetic elegance, price point, etc. Only my hero products have cemented a place in my routine while others I find interchangeable. As far as Azelaic Acid, I think it's critical to focus on the type of hyperpigmentation. I don't suffer from acne and I rarely have to deal with a "recovery" dark mark, which I consider short-term hyperpigmentation. For those purposes I don't think Azelaic Acid is necessary or the best ingredient focal point given how finicky it can be as an ingredient. When you start dealing with long-term hyperpigmentation (sunspots as an example) I think Azelaic Acid stands apart as one of the better options to try when it comes to OTC ingredients.
I love the purpose-based routine! That makes so much sense, and I think that can really help in reducing redundancy. And very good point on AzA as well ☺️
I actually really liked the smell of lipid gold - it smells like the beach to me. (The actual beach, not the sunscreen and fruity drink beach smell we get in candles.) Maybe that's the sea buckthorn?
Sea buckthorn over here going: “that’s my job, beach!” I’m going to see if I can pick up that smell. I feel like I get primed sometimes when I read comments from people that call it fish-like. It’s a bit of, “well now that you mention it…”
I’ve found that azelaic acid at a higher percentage, specifically the finecia (spelling?) foam at 20% was amazing for my hyperpigmentation. I used to have purple cheeks, people thought they were bruises or that I fell on my face, but now you’d never guess that it was a struggle for me. Now, it’s been a few years since I had it and I haven’t been able to get it again (prescription) but it was an amazing product for me. Lower percentage I use with my retinol, either Paula’s choice or peach slices (though I’m always on the look out). Vegan and cruelty free is important for me personally. And for the prices, yeahhhh, I’m trying to hold onto my stash as long as i possibly can before getting new products. I like getting new ones, but my bank account and the environment certainly does not, lol. I still watch videos on things though for entertainment, connection within the communities, and for when a friend or I need to make a purchase I’m educated on it. Hope your new year is going well so far! 🫶🏻
Thank you for sharing! It really is amazing to find those products that worked so well that we don’t really need to repurchase (I had this experience with a high AHA product, though I don’t want to - and can’t - repurchase it lol) Hope your new year is going great too!
@@hoosieraussis1 thank you for the heads up! I’m in Japan atm but will be moving back to the US within the coming months. I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks again!
that Idiocracy reference TOOK ME OUT! 😂😂 On a different not tho - I would love to hear your thoughts about whole Abib Jericho Rose line (that Nutrition Tube is THICK THICK, I think you would love it!) and Blithe pressed serums (especially Tundra Chaga). Any chance you might look into those products? Loved your video as always, greetings from Poland
I have been eyeing those blithe serums since - no joke - they were on the sephora website. I think they don’t get much discussion as they do contain fragrance, but…I have considered it! Will look into the Abib too, thanks for the requests! ☺️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I got the Gold Apricot one through Yesstyle Influencers and OH it's GREAT, very moisturising! Extremely unique texture. I have been using it only for a couple of days tho, so so far I can only speak about the feel on the skin (and that is 10/10, dry skin firendly)
I have a love-hate relationship with Azelaic acid. I bought 5 bottles of the Facetheory 15% one when it was on BOGO and I'm just starting on the last bottle. I feel I've consistently had no improvement to my acne - or at least no improvement to acne under my nose. The rest of my face I feel Differin already does a good enough job. I've also not noticed any lessening of hyperpigmentation. To add salt to the wound, the 15% can itch if you use too much. Almost 2 years on and I still can itch from it, sometimes on my neck because products later in my routine go down my neck too. This is an ingredient I'm subscribed to, but I'm always on the lookout for a better product. Have you tried the Geek and Gorgeous aPAD? It's supposed to be easier to use and more effective for acne. I'm excitedly and painfully finishing this last bottle so I can try the aPAD. How are finding the Cos de Baha? I tried 2 bottles of it and it didn't feel like it did anything for me too. Also, how have I never come across the Lion Pear cream?! Definitely want to try that soon. Do you use it directly after adapalene?
Yep I’ve tried facetheory and apad! And while I’d say I tried apad too early on to compare it (did feel underwhelming to me, but I hadn’t gained my appreciation for the ingredient yet), I will say I feel cdb compares to facetheory for me personally. With less itching lol! Do you think it’s possible that you would do better with an alternative ingredient? I feel BHA does more for me, but I have cut down my usage of it because it was too fine of a line toward overexfoliating, while AzA is easier. Or perhaps something like LHA, 4-terpineol, sodium ascorbyl phosphate…lots of other acne-fighting options!
Have you heard of Isispharma's azelaic acid products? They are a French pharmacy brand, and they have two 15% AA products from two lines, Metroruboril and Teen Derm. I've been using the Teen Derm one, which has a semi-matte/drying finish, and I think you might like the Metroruboril one which is more soothing and hydrating.
How you feel about liquid gold is how I feel about great barrier relief from krave. I’ve tried liquid gold and I like it but I prefer great barrier relief and won’t go without it. I’m an advanced esthetician with combo skin- dry and acne and in my 30s. I use 0.1% tretinoin and 15% azelaic acid so I need ongoing barrier help. I also cannot live without the ordinary multi-peptide + copper peptides
I only recently discovered your channel and I’ve already watched like 8 videos. You have such a fun personality! And we seem to think a lot alike, which is cool…I also enjoy saving money LOL, and have stopped buying CeraVe because even though they make good products I am annoyed that they have done like 40% price increases across the board using “inflation” as an excuse but really just trying to capitalize on the hype they got for awhile. I like the Panoxyl too (and I use it on my armpits in the shower instead of deodorant). P.S. I’m also an Aries. ❤🎉
Thank you so much!! Yeah I’m so tired of the inflation. It would be one thing if it happened occasionally, but it feels like it happens every time we look away ugh
Alice! Have you heard of the Nineless 10% azelaic acid serum? It's a new Korean one I found out about through Glow by Ramón. Very affordable so thinking of trying it as an alternative to the CdB one, which is so cheap but a bit goopy/sticky for my tastes!
I’d say to think of fermentation as a way to process an ingredient vs a category. I think I talked about bifida in this video, right? Great probiotic-based ingredient for barrier health. Galactomyces (yeast) seems to help more with brightening. HTH!
Just today, I made a list of products I thought my skin needed. Learned the hard way that my skin does not like too many products in one session. If I have to use products consistently, I need to whittle down the number. Some of the products that made the list were expensive. Hopefully replacing 3 products with one will balance out the cost. I have a few questions about some choices. I am still learning so forgive any faulty logic here. - If you are using SK-II do you still need the manyo bifida biome ampoule.(both fermented ingredients) - Do you feel the sulwhasoo overnight vitalizing mask gives you the same benefit as the chogongin youngan jin cream. - your thoughts on the sooryehan black serum. Thank you for the video😊
Ok so my answers may be funny here: I don’t use sk-ii as much as I’d like (🤪). Reason being is that it consistently has proven itself to me, and works so well that it’s hard to see results from other products. I don’t want to do a review of, say, more affordable products, but also be using sk-ii as…most likely, the results are the sk-II (this whole video is about affordable products, but goodness…sk-ii - and also devices - remain the two “splurge” products that I think are exceedingly worth it) That Sulwhasoo mask is great, but I’m going without it at the moment, and sadly I haven’t tried sooryehan yet. Hope that helps!
@AliceintheRabbitHole Thank you. 😊 I understand where you are at as someone who reviews products. I was trying to decide if it was an overkill to use both manyo and sk-II. Same with sulwhasoo mask vs chogongin - not to mention the cost of using all of them, he he.
I was so heartbroken to discover that my skin didn’t like stratia lipid gold :( I swear I’m the only one. I’m pretty sure my skin hates sea buckthorn oil. I tried the beekman mist and I broke out just the same. I also don’t think my skin like rose hip!!:/// dry acne prone skin is hard enough. Why does it have to hate such amazing oils too:( skincare is so hard sometimes.
It really can be such a struggle 😭 Though I will say: you’re not alone! It really is true that nothing - absolutely NOTHING - is for everyone. Brands don’t like admitting this, but look at any skincare ingredient study: some portion of participants drop out, every single time!
I don't like it as well. if I use it as the last step as a moisturizer it dries my skin out completely. its just okay if I layer something thicker on top but there are much better barrier repair stuff on the market. Paula's choice omega complex serum is my fav. im currently experimenting with the ordinary's pink one.
I wish Stratia would/could find a reliable non-animal source for their cholesterol. Until they do, I can’t try the iconic product. Most cholesterol is in the form of lanesterol, which means that it comes from lanolin-a severe allergen for me. It’s disappointing. Also disappointing is the salicylate (allergy again) in the cream you love. The bifida ampoule was a perfect suggestion for me. Thank you! Do you happen to know of a form or brand of retinoid that is either plant-based or synthetic? I think the problem I have with retinoids may be their source.
It’s a whole story. I’ve been eyeing them for a while via Etsy (so up my alley lol)..then one day, there it was on YesStyle. On clearance. I never regret that I fluff my cart to hit the free shipping minimum by typing “hat” lol!!
Interesting to see everything broken down like this! I've similarly been using the CVS brand adapalene (purchased with my weekly discount of course!) and notice no difference in efficacy. I have to ask though- have you tried the Cetaphil benzoyl peroxide cleanser? I recently got it and although it smells very funky- like rotting leaves?- its been incredibly gentle. Another cream cleanser with 2.6% micronized BPO, and I feel its slightly gentler than the Panoxyl. I do not know about price though, but its definitely cheaper than $19 and comes in a 4oz tube. It has really been coming in handy during the holiday period as I, how you say, overindulge. Otherwise ive found the Torriden balanceful cica serum or cream to be one of the most effective calming and antiinflammatory products in my routine, as well as the Aestura Cream or mist for that super ceramide boost that lets my skin heal so quickly! I've also been dabbling in the vt reedle shot, so far so good... Hope the new year is treating you well!
Those CVS discounts are so good. I sometimes see people say it’s the most expensive store but…it’s really not lol, just gotta push those coupons and work those extrabucks 🤣 Thanks for mentioning the micronized BPO, I do keep meaning to try that! It’s funny; I’m adventurous with so many ingredients, but my acne needs? At this point, it’s a bit harder to stray (because the repercussions of an acne product not working are much worse than anything else lol!)
🍄❤🎉 also: I tried the Crave Great Barrier Relief and like it but man oh man the tamanu oil is smelllllly!!! Back to the Lipid Gold. Oh and I sure hope that adapalene is an anti-aging as it’s my preferred vitamin A. I get the Walgreens kind too😂 Alice, have you tried the by Wishtrend Vitamin A-mazing cream? I love it and think my dry skin friends will love it.
I recently tried the peach slices azelaic acid serum and for some reason it made my skin itchy and tingly after a couple weeks. I was shocked since i use tretinoin, lactic acid and L-abscorbic acid (not in the same routine) with no problems at all . Really strange!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Ah okay. perhaps it will subside. I took a break for now, but I do want to see the benefits so I'll incorporate it back slowly. Thanks!
Help please!! Love your videos! I’m new to your channel so just started going down the rabbit hole so apologies up front if you have answered this elsewhere. I’m curious what is the best way to test products to know if it’s really working for you? I bought a lot of k beauty products recently ….cleansers, toners, serums etc so that I could get a routine going. But rotating through them I’m Not sure how to tell which products are actually working and which are just fillers that I can do with out. What I’m noticing is a lot of the ingredients are repeated in many of the products …HA’s, Niacinamide, ginseng etc and different ingredients that claim to do similar things like soothe…target hyperpigmentation, hydrate etc…it can get confusing which products are actually doing the heavy lifting and which are playing the background. When I go to restock I want to establish staples and not be a product junkie 😅 Thoughts?
I thought it was "Liquid Gold". Has it always been "Lipid Gold"? I so want to try it but with my income level I cannot justify paying shipping along with the $27. Maybe someday...
I have The Ordinary Buffet which is the original name of Multi-Technology Peptide Serum. I really hate to use it because it peels seriously over my entire face. As it peels off already, I am wondering how much it soaks into my skin and benefits me. Does Alice have the same problem with the serum?
Yes! And now, no! I had a few people tell me to revisit it (since the name change) and wow, they really did improve the formula. It used to pill soooo badly on me
Have your tried the dieux instant angle or any of their products. I have super dry skin and use high strength retinol so I’m struggling to find a product for night so I don’t wake up with super dry skin.
Ive been thinking about trying a Missha essence but....I'm so confused which one to try. I'm currently using Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence and I love it. Curious which Missha essence to try or should I just stick with the Neogen ?? Thank you
Ah the Neogen is a good one! Sadly I feel I can’t really compare them as Missha has reformulated the essence since I tried it last. But I’ll say this: personally, I would compare prices and wait for “the right time” to buy. I’ve seen Missha’s (and Neogen’s!) both at excellent price points, particularly on stylevana and stylekorean ☺️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I've read comments regarding them constantly changing the ingredients list. Might just stick with the Neogen. With Missha having multiple versions, it's overwhelming for my little brain lol I stocked up on the Neogen when Amazon had it for 40% off.
I prefer it as a toner mist, but I suppose you could. It’s not a travel friendly bottle though (so you might want to decant some into a portable bottle!)
@AliceintheRabbitHole okay thank you I don't usually use them, however I always wondered. I haven't tried a lot of elf I'm thinking once I'm done with most of my products, I'll probably get a couple.
You have to love it when a product that has always been really inexpensive is always bordering on expensive. (All of this is relatively speaking, of course.) There was an enzyme peel that I started purchasing on Amazon as a result of another RUclips skincare creator and I absolutely loved it. Pretty sure it was about $13 the first time I bought it. $39 now! 😮 BYE!
Oh NOOO I would be so mad!! I will say: most companies up their prices as they get more popular (from a business perspective, I get it…though from a personal perspective I still very much object). I have a lot of respect for the handful of companies that grow, and hence are able to - AND DO - reduce their prices.
Loved the content. I have the manyo mist, I may have to try the Misha but I was a bit interested in PKYUL BLACK snail repair cream. I'm an R regarding economics and foreign affairs but more D on social issues. So I have a full spreadsheet we did for our clients on Joe baby's real inflation numbers. More like 14 percent , you add in all the hands a product passes through and that's why when ya spend too much of the taxpayers dollars and get 13 trillion in debt the people suffer. And most of us financially are. I am afraid this will not reverse abd the consequences will be dire.
Inflation is just another word for companies price gouging us. Republicans all voted no on an anti price gouging bill Dems created. Companies are making record profits from price gouging, and nobody’s stopping them because republicans wouldn’t pass the bill. You need to pay attention to which bills are being voted on, and how our representatives vote on them.
My biggest political concern right now: I absolutely cannot believe there’s even a shred of me that thinks this is possible BUT…we gotta keep the DT out, round 2. Biden hasn’t been the best president, but I’m seeing too many people who are saying they’re abstaining from voting for him. And I’m SO worried of what that could mean for us 😔
I just found your channel last night after purchasing the Stratia lipid gold and interface bundle and searching RUclips for videos about them! I have since binge watched so many of your videos because it seems like we like the same ingredients and have similar skin! This video was so helpful because I am transitioning away from expensive products (like EL advanced night repair) but I love those ingredients and this gives me some more affordable options to try 🩷
Happy to help! ANR is a great product (that I have a long history with too; used to be my mom’s annual Christmas gift! 🤣) But yep, it’s pricey. I’m glad there are more affordable options these days ☺️

I agree, azelaic acid in conjunction with a retinoid and maybe vitamin c has helped my sun spots tremendously
Mmhmm yuuup, not “life changing” on its own, but an excellent ingredient to add into the routine!
Walgreens makes a Pan Oxel dupe and it’s just as good!
😱😱
That’s so good to hear!
Oh my goodness Alice! Your beret is absolutely the cutest and most fun thing I've seen in hats/beanies/etc.💜💜💜

Hmmm that would make such a fun short! Thanks for the idea 😁
I absolutely have this mentality with my skincare!
Red is your color.😍
And I am so envious of your blonde hair. I find it’s so difficult to maintain blonde hair, especially if you’re not in the sun often.
I went through three bottles of ma:nyo and forgot to repurchase. My skin barrier has been compromised and I couldn’t figure out why until I watched your video. Thanks for enlightening me. ❤
Glad to help 😁 whew that’s one of the best ingredients I’ve ever added!
@AliceintheRabbitHole I'll have to get that.
I've been spoiled. Never had to worry about skin barrier. Had reaction FAB cream one with colloidal oatmeal in big tub (limousine, limoloo - sp?)
Interestingly, FAB Arnica relief & Rescue Mask really helped.
I too prefer the PanOxyl benzoyl peroxide wash over Cerave. ❤
Only 15 seconds in, but gotta comment on the cute hat! Love it! Thank you for the great vids!
I wish stratia was available in Europe, I can't afford the 20 dollars shipping to the UK but I love it so much
I used Paula’s Choice azelaic acid for over a year. Great product. I just ordered Naturium azelaic acid and hope it performs as well
Ah can you update me on how that goes for you? ☺️
I personally REALLY like the Naturium 😣 as much as I dislike Supporting the brand, they do have some great products😞
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I sure will
Alice!
Hi Alice. The Prequel Urea lotion is back in stock. 🏃♀️
Just want to say that I have been recommending the Lion Pair to friends with rosacea as well as acne for its anti-inflammatory results. Suspect it would be helpful for perioral dermatitis for the same reasons.
Good thinking! Have any of them reported back on results?
@@AliceintheRabbitHole My son’s skin has dramatically improved as a result.
I tried and really like the Lion Pair Acne cream. It does contain Ibuprofen, which my husband can not tolerate. Of course he tried it, UGH!! 🙄 Just made everything worse! 😜
Stratia Lipid Gold is also my "go to".
Allergies are no fun at all
Mmhmm, it does sound like the NIOD is worth it at the 50% off discount! I love knowing that I can always come back to TO’s though, and that it won’t break the bank! 😁
I just saw that cleanser in an Ulta email and wondered if you had tried it. Thanks for answering my question before I even asked it 😆
Lol glad to help! It seems the brand might be new to Ulta, so yep, they want to let us all know 🤣
Btw, I want to thank you for reminding people that it is not normal for non-influencers to be spending every spare cent they have on makeup and skincare with the expectation that it will change their lives. I have changed my whole relationship with “stuff” lately and you have definitely helped reinforce it.
Glad to hear! 💕
Would you mind doing a video on your makeup routine?
Your makeup is so on point in this video. 😍
Which foundation do you use?
YESSSS to BP in a cleanser!!! I got the buy one get one deal the last time they ran it... But gave one away to my son's friend who was asking for acne help. Good to know about Panoxyl... I become OBSESSED with a specific ingredient and buy EVERYTHING...I did it with Azelaic acid to see which textures and formulas worked best. I find I'm not picky but will go overboard trying EVERY option available 😅
Well, that is helpful information!! I’ve definitely done it a bit with some ingredients myself (what’s up, peptides 🤣)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole yup those too 🤣
Hi Alice watching and cooking breakfast for dinner!❌️⭕️
Ooh one of my personal favs, breakfast is tasty no matter the hour! 😄
That is exactly what I am doing...right now...lol
😍😍Love your hat!! Such a helpful video.
That’s the cutest hat.
Sea buckthorn over here going: “that’s my job, beach!”
I’m going to see if I can pick up that smell. I feel like I get primed sometimes when I read comments from people that call it fish-like. It’s a bit of, “well now that you mention it…”
This is an important distinction. Some products are salient and some ingredients are.
very helpful 🥰 its crazy how much drugstore has gone up.
It really is 😞
I’ve found that azelaic acid at a higher percentage, specifically the finecia (spelling?) foam at 20% was amazing for my hyperpigmentation.
It really is amazing to find those products that worked so well that we don’t really need to repurchase (I had this experience with a high AHA product, though I don’t want to - and can’t - repurchase it lol)
Hope your new year is going great too!
I don't know where you are, but Dermatica is now selling their 20% azelaic acid in the USA. It was half off for Black Friday.
@@hoosieraussis1 thank you for the heads up! I’m in Japan atm but will be moving back to the US within the coming months. I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks again!
OMG...mushrooms...you really are Alice
😁😁
Love your look, Emily In Paris x Princess Peach!
that Idiocracy reference TOOK ME OUT!
Oops and yes, i do use it over adapalene!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Thanks for your thoughts! Cheers :)
I love your cost savings tips! Please do a video on Ulta rewards program. I find it confusing-is it better to redeem more points at once?
I DEEPLY regret not getting lipid gold during Black Friday.
Agreed. LOVEEEEEE azelaic acid too.
I haven’t, as it seems importing 15% is hard to do here 😭
How you feel about liquid gold is how I feel about great barrier relief from krave.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole yes!!!
I NEED that Chogongjin 😅
The chogongjin cream is HEAVILY SCENTED, wish that would have been mentioned in the video.
Alice! Have you heard of the Nineless 10% azelaic acid serum? It's a new Korean one I found out about through Glow by Ramón. Very affordable so thinking of trying it as an alternative to the CdB one, which is so cheap but a bit goopy/sticky for my tastes!
Oh whoa no I hadn’t! I saw their toner but didn’t realize there’s a serum. Thanks for the heads up!
@AliceintheRabbitHole I ordered it the other day. Has amazing soothing and hydrating ingredients along with the acid. Even has some snail mucin , niacinimide, and hexapeptide-8 peptide thrown in there😊😂 couldn't believe how many of my favorite ingredients it has.
Aqua (Water), Azelaic Acid, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Centella Asiatica Root Extract, Lactic Acid, Propanediol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Disodium EDTA, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Decyl Glucoside, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Cladosiphon Okamuranus Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Asiatic Acid, Asiaticoside, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Madecassic Acid, Madecassoside, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Leaf Extract, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract
I have issues with Cerave getting up there in cost next thing you know they flip the script and turn into mid tier luxury brand like Paula’s Choice.
Hi Alice! Would you be interested in trying Niche Beauty Lab’s AZID Azelaic Acid 15%? I would love to hear your thoughts!
I might! I’ve been overall happy with the CdB, which is why I haven’t gone for it - but it sounds nice for sure!
Omg! That hat! So cute. Did you make it yourself?
I didn’t but I have to admit…seeing it in person, it would be easy to make!
Thought your fav ferment is skii,,,,!
- If you are using SK-II do you still need the manyo bifida biome ampoule.(both fermented ingredients)
- Do you feel the sulwhasoo overnight vitalizing mask gives you the same benefit as the chogongin youngan jin cream.
- your thoughts on the sooryehan black serum.
Thank you for the video😊
Ok so my answers may be funny here: I don’t use sk-ii as much as I’d like (🤪). Reason being is that it consistently has proven itself to me, and works so well that it’s hard to see results from other products. I don’t want to do a review of, say, more affordable products, but also be using sk-ii as…most likely, the results are the sk-II (this whole video is about affordable products, but goodness…sk-ii - and also devices - remain the two “splurge” products that I think are exceedingly worth it)
That Sulwhasoo mask is great, but I’m going without it at the moment, and sadly I haven’t tried sooryehan yet.
Random Smash Mouth reference. Love it. 😂
I usually am loyal to what ever doesn't break me out. Have a wonderful week ❌️ ⭕️
Oh how I feel that! Hope you have a great week too 🥰
I was so heartbroken to discover that my skin didn’t like stratia lipid gold :( I swear I’m the only one.
It really can be such a struggle 😭
Though I will say: you’re not alone!
Yeah that would be the problem, unfortunately. There are a lot of vegan retinol alternatives on the market, but (of course) none are quite retinol
Lets ask the important questions here......... Where did you get that hat? I stared at it in extreme need the whole video.
Came here to ask the same!
I sometimes see people say it’s the most expensive store but…it’s really not lol, just gotta push those coupons and work those extrabucks 🤣
Thanks for mentioning the micronized BPO, I do keep meaning to try that! It’s funny; I’m adventurous with so many ingredients, but my acne needs? At this point, it’s a bit harder to stray (because the repercussions of an acne product not working are much worse than anything else lol!)
Where did you get that mushroom hat I love it
Thank you! It’s from YesStyle but it was on clearance (there’s similar hats on Etsy tho!)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole your very welcome! I'll have to see if there still on there
🍄❤🎉 also: I tried the Crave Great Barrier Relief and like it but man oh man the tamanu oil is smelllllly!!!
Tamanu oil works so well but oh how I gotta be in the mood to experience that scent (and it LINGERS! Joy! 😅)
I recently tried the peach slices azelaic acid serum and for some reason it made my skin itchy and tingly after a couple weeks. I was shocked since i use tretinoin, lactic acid and L-abscorbic acid (not in the same routine) with no problems at all . Really strange!
Maybe the adjustment period? I definitely had it too, although now it’s a breeze!
But rotating through them I’m
Not sure how to tell which products are actually working and which are just fillers that I can do with out.
When I go to restock I want to establish staples and not be a product junkie 😅
Thoughts?
Please tell me where you got a mushroom beret?!
YesStyle, but on clearance. However, I saw a ton of similar hats on Etsy!
Hi Alice Is it ok to use azealic acid and peptides in the same routine? I thought they cancelled each other out ❤
I personally do not, as I like the retinoid/peptide combo or bifida/peptide combo. I alternate in Aza!
Idr think I have price points for products I would like it to be under 40 dollars ɓut I'll spent 60 bucks on a product if it's good
Miss 🐇 Could you try Aestura''s Calming Hydro Toner with PHA? It has a green label on it. ❤
PHA, you say? 👀
Will look it up, I’ve actually been wanting to try that whole brand for a while!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Yes! 3% PHA. It has a short ingredient list. I would LOVE your thoughts?
Cute hat
Thank you! ☺️
I don't love the smell of Liquid Gold- oop, Lipid Gold!- but it does seem to dissipate pretty quickly
Agreed! And I am grateful for that lol 😆
Just got my 50% off CoQ 10 spray.
Yesss!!
Do you know if you can use the spray throughout the day to help with feeling dryness instead of reapplying moisturizer?
@nathaliehuerta4717
I have no idea, but I wouldn't do that, personally. I wear mask 😷 all day long for work.
Can you use the indie lee toner throughout the day when feeling dry?
I prefer it as a toner mist, but I suppose you could. It’s not a travel friendly bottle though (so you might want to decant some into a portable bottle!)
Random question but is it okay to put tinted moisturizer on at night?
I would recommend a separate moisturizer tbh, there are so many inexpensive options that are EXCELLENT, from elf to k-beauty!
@AliceintheRabbitHole okay thank you I don't usually use them, however I always wondered. I haven't tried a lot of elf I'm thinking once I'm done with most of my products, I'll probably get a couple.
have you tried the 15% or 20% AA??
Yes, 15%! For me, the results are comparable to 10%, though I suspect it might depend on your goal (my main goal is reducing breakouts)
You have to love it when a product that has always been really inexpensive is always bordering on expensive. (All of this is relatively speaking, of course.)
There was an enzyme peel that I started purchasing on Amazon as a result of another RUclips skincare creator and I absolutely loved it.
Not the smash mouth lyrics 😭😭
🐰
Just so you know someone got your cryptic reference…..The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd…..😅
Hahaha I wondered if I should mention the Grateful Dead by name but shrugged it off. Glad to hear!! 🤣😂
And I’m SO worried of what that could mean for us 😔
#notbougie
