    The green tea/red light study blew me away! That is absolutely crazy, so thanks for shining a light on the real story. I don't use red light therapy, but it's a good reminder to look more deeply at the primary literature when you see those claims. Thank you!

      Yuuup, it kind of reminds me of the “blue light blockers” (actually, it very much reminds me of that lol). Antioxidants are good! But these bold claims I hear related to them, phew.

    I often use the Banila Co Clean It Zero cleansing balm as my sole nightly cleanser. It does such a good job of removing everything, including eye makeup, and washes clean off, that often I don’t feel the need to do a 2nd cleanse!
    Also I love that Peach Slices toner! I actually started using it based off a recommendation from you, Alice 😁. 1-2 years ago I made a comment asking for an alternative to CosRX snail essence since that one doesn’t really do anything for me, and you recommended the Peach Slices, and I’ve been using it ever since! I apply it day and night, after the Missha First Treatment essence and before serum.

    The Graymelin canola crazy cleansing oil is really amazing if you don't do a lot of heavy makeup. I used to have a roommate, even though she and I have different skin types, I'm an oily combination and she is a dry combination but we both share the same 500ml (17 fl.oz) bottle. I also find the original canola version is somehow lighter and easier to wash than the more expensive pink or green bottles also from Graymelin.

    I also finished the Anua toner and the BoJ sunscreen this year and loved both, although not my favourites in that I won't repurchase them, as they were not hydrating enough for me. I double cleanse every single day though, I use the curel or Fancl oil cleaner, or sometimes Farmacy cleansing balm, as I wear a full face of makeup all the time and there is no other way to remove it, as I don't like makeup wipes and micellar water does not really work as well, so I use that for just point removal of lip and eye makeup before going in with an oil or balm. I really want to try the Make prem Intceca range as I heard it's pretty good

    • @geethaparasuram6338
      @geethaparasuram6338 11 месяцев назад

      @AliceintheRabbitHole It is difficult to quantify. I used it for a year and thought I did not see a difference in my 11s. But then I realized that it remained the same without worsening over the past 2 years. I am 60 and small crow's feet appear only when I crinkle my eyes to smile. At rest, I don't have any lines or wrinkles. So my evaluation is that it prevented worsening of lines but did not reduce existing deep lines.
      One other youtube influencer(maryellenover60) mentioned that she used the 20% argereline (skin diva) and it reduced her nasolabial folds.

Did not see much improvement on my face, but liked it and saw a small improvement on my "turkey" neck. Not sure if I'd spend that money again on one serum. I found the peach and Lily copper peptides to work better for in my routine than The Ordinary. I want to love TO's but omg it's so insanely difficult for me to not get sensitivity. I don't use it with any actives but if tret is used the day before or the day after copper peptides, my skin is a goner and I spend days reigning it in.
    I don't have sensitive skin, I use tret .05 and could basically use it every night, I'm so surprised I'm struggling. Dialing back the tret to make copper peptides work has made me experience some flaking drom tret again. Don't know if it's worth the hassle, though I do love the effects I've seen from copper peptides!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  11 месяцев назад +2

      It’s very good that you isolated the problem! One of my worries with copper peptides is that there isn’t really a lot of human research, although there are plenty of anecdotal reports - and those are both VERY good and some not-so-good. TBH I feel P&L chose wisely to have a less high percentage of CP, but a whole range of other peptides included. I really love that formula!

    does anyone else have a pet peeve study they see quoted in marketing all the time? mine is the one saying retinal works "11 times faster than retinol". I think if you look up the study it's some in vitro testing comparing *the same concentration* of retinal and retinol and their effect on one specific gene expression - because brands tend to use much more retinol than retinal in a product the comparison is basically irrelevant, and aside from that, gene expression probably isn't going to be linked linearly to how quickly you would see results!! yet all the major retinal brands quote this 😤😤

    Alice, do you find the best prices on Sulwhasoo any place specific? I’m missing ginseng in my routine this winter. Do you have a ginseng video?

      Stylevana! Just know the shipping is a bit (…lot) slower, up to a month I would say. It’s worth it for the better prices to me personally!
      I haven’t made an updated video on ginseng, but suffice to say: Sulwhasoo and Donginbi are still my favorites ☺️

    Whats the purpose of a toner. My mom asked me this yesterday and I who constantly researches skin care didn't even know. The internet says to refresh ur skin without stripping it is that true? I don't like to always look stuff up bc a lot of it is dangerously false, lol. So I'm rly wondering what's the purpose of a toner I thought it was to exfoliate so I'm confused, lol!

      It has changed over the years. Originally, it was designed to restore the skins' ph after cleansing with soap. Now that we seldom cleanse with a bar of soap it can be used to prepare the skin for the next step, or sometimes it can exfoliate a little too. This is what I have heard from skincare brands anyway.

    Curious to find out why you don’t use green tea with LED therapy anymore. I bought the Isntree Green tea serum and toner specifically to use with that 😅

      Yeah let me know if the video explained that well enough, I did start wondering if I got the concepts out of my head well enough lol
      Basically, I use antioxidants, but not limited to green tea. Because the theory is very much still a theory, and we don’t know that EGCG is better than, say, CoQ10

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole What you shared about the study was so interesting and also disappointing! :( I can’t believe it’s being quoted so much when it actual has no scientific validity. It really shows how we must do our own research and not trust companies so blindly as they’ll use anything to sell their products. I have combo skin so I will still use the green tea products I bought (they’ve also been shown to be good for my skin type and isntree is a great brand overall, and I chose them because I saw the toner mentioned in another one of your videos!) but will definitely try other antioxidants once I’m done!
      Happy holidays :)

      Yeahh, one of those companies has reached out to me a few times, but I’m not interested in their products - that conversation is why lol!
      I will say though: a lot of people use the Isntree before LED, which is priced fairly and if you have oily/normal skin, you may see the sebum balancing that I won’t. So it’s a good call, just don’t ever feel you have to $pend a lot on a product designed to be used with LED. That’s all marketing!

      I tried green tea before my red light but I can't seem to be consistent about waiting 20 min in the morning to let it soak in😞 I think that idea of 20 min before comes from that study too, so maybe it's not as important?? Do you think it really matters if we put it on first or maybe it's ok just to get up, do my red light & then do my regular AM skin care w/some antioxidants tossed in there? @@AliceintheRabbitHole

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      I actually never heard of this 20 minutes idea! Yes, personally I think there shouldn’t be drawbacks with LED, even moreso with home devices (maybe - big maybe - in clinical settings, but home devices aren’t putting out high energy anyway).
      Personally I don’t worry about it, but I still like to add a nice antioxidant toner before LED. Mostly because otherwise I feel my dry skin getting dryer 🤣

    If you don’t mind fragrance (and I don’t in cleanser) the old school face shop rice oil cleanser (light: there used to be - light and rich option) is PERFECT for the single oil cleanse! My skin was super sensitive and angry a couple of years ago and this method with this oil was so helpful and effective plus CHEAP! I have been reminded of this product as It’s absolutely everywhere here in Korea!

    Wow, the scientific thesis by one scientist using antioxidant infusion serums is totally blown out of the water. 😂 It's fine with using whatever antioxidant rich toner, essence or serum with the red light therapy... Will wait for more research thesis to make a statement...
