Our gorgeous 2013 Mini Cooper Roadster is the sporty, open top sibling for the Mini R56 hatchback. This is a lower-slung, 2 seater body with a more sporting stance than its hatch sibling. However, like the hatch, it's also filled with retro charm and is guaranteed to raise a smile every time you drive it. Powr comes from a normally aspirated 1.6 litte engine which produces a healthy 120bhp which is enough to give the sleek mini a sub 9 second 0-60mph time. This model has a 6-speed manual gearbox and an elevated specification including cruise control, so its a car that is great fun on a twisty B-road, practical around town and also great on the motorway. Minis are all about feel-good factor and this model has the looks and feel that ensure you know you're in something a bit special. The 2 seater body is slightly taughter than the standard mini convertible so the handling on these roadsters is even better than their 4 seater cousins.

The combination of sporty looks and that convertible roof make this one of my favorite Minis. It certainly is a car which turns heads and has a real Feel-Good factor. The Mini is designed and built by BMW so this is quite possibly the best built small car you will ever come across, with well thought out design features and proven reliability. Both inside and out our Mini is a fabulous blend of retro meets modern. The cabin is both simple and uncluttered; the retro-speedometer is situated between the driver and the front passenger in the classic MINI position. I love the 2 tone interior of this car with its sporty 1/2 leather seats which are heated for added comfort. The rev counter is located on the steering column in front of the driver which looks fantastic and adds to the feeling that this is something a little bit special. All the controls have that retro feel, even the traditional looking toggle switches which operate the cars fog lights and auxiliary functions - fitted as they were in the original Mini in the centre console under that large central speedometer.
The huge appeal of the original mini was its excellent driver enjoyment and with the Cooper roadster, fun and thrills are served up by the bucket load. The handling is superb - almost go-kart like with instant turn in and barely any body roll. The result is a car that is far more fun and involving than cars costing twice this amount - Yes there are faster hatchbacks out there but there are few cars that will make you smile as much as a Mini. No matter how many fast cars you drive there is still something a little bit special about jumping behind the wheel of a Mini with its blend of light weight and excellent chassis dynamics, along with modern electronic aids such as ABS brakes and ESP stability control. Having sold many of these cars over the years, I was expecting great things from this car and I was not left disappointed. The whole car feels taught and almost like new. The steering is well weighted and the clutch and gearbox are perfect. But, where the Mini really shows its ace card is through the corners. Just like the original, this car is blessed with agile handling through tight turns and with all 4 wheels are pushed right into the cars 4 corners, a low slung 2 seater body and light weight ensure the mini feels nimble and highly stable, inspiring greater confidence than you would exert in a traditional small car. Whilst the handling is precise and predictable, the steering feels quick and has excellent feel.
The Mini is a car which you would happily drive long distances on the motorway with the cruise control and 6 speed gearbox on this model being a massive bonus on high-speed runs. Aside from the performance - The best thing about driving this Mini is the way it makes you feel. It is a fun car to drive and a car that will turn heads wherever you go, especially in this gorgeous colour combination.
