Also for anyone looking at the B48 engine. Between January 2014 and February 2015 there was a crankshaft bearing fault which really effected the engine. Make sure you get confirmation that the engine was rebuilt or replaced if you look at a car within that age
Just bought a 2014, mfg in June 2014…. Engine replacement is not in the carfax. Nhtsa says my car doesnt have any open recalls. However I notice a slight imbalance that’s intermittent. Should I be concerned? Is it easy to ask Mini if this car has been repaired and maybe it was left off carfax?
Two best options that were not discussed are, pan roof absolutely essential and adaptive cruise control which is simply phenomenal. More spec, more cost but better saleability when you come to swap. 😎
8:30 Thank you for mentioning this, I really wish I'd known this before I bought a mini cooper. I test drove a 2016 Cooper S JCW and I was sold, power, pops, bangs, fun car, I ended up getting a 2019 JCW and I spent 3 years being tremendously disappointed while I tried to swap it for something better and within the 4th year, the OPF was failing and starting to cost a fortune, thankfully the dealership took it back and I managed to get some of my money back out of HP contract but what a miserable few years those were. It can be modified, OPF delete and have the throttle smoothed out and pops put back in but the legality and MOT of that is getting harder and harder as fun becomes more illegal. Also I might add, the post LCI cars have a throttle that just aggressively jumps from like 0 to 15% actuation where was pre LCI cars have a smooth throttle, I hated this about post LCI mini cooper as it gave constant valve chatter and made the car shake when I was just trying to drive normally not even in sport mode. I know you probably don't want to get into the weeds of politics but it is entirely possible for these changes to be reverted as the policies pushing them are all coming from NGO organisations and the UN and their arguments do not stand to any scientific scrutiny, the more that's known, the less enforceable they are.
@@rob2738 do you have arguments? im also hesitating between both, the issue is im scared I will be disapointed with the mx5 as it doesnt have as much torque and sound like a vacuum. I did try a Mini and loved it, low torque makes it VERY easy even in traffic and hills with hill start (new to manual) also one of the best sounding 4cyl you can get, the drive position makes it feel like you are going really fast evne if you are going at limit. I bet the MX5 is way better track car but on normal road I feel like the mini would be a better bet
Thank you, from Canada. Always wanted a Mini but too terrified to buy one. Now I am in a position to get a fun summer daily and these are dirt cheap here.....based on my research anything after 2015 is pretty decent.....excited to get one now!
Everybody forgets GREEN MODE...when you're not driving like a Bat out of Hell 😊...I saw a post on a mini forum...in green mode guy was getting 70+ mpg...I tried it and it works ...so on highway driving which I do a lot...try this get your mini up to speed say 70mph set cruise control...then read your mpg...and watch your range go up. Also you can still pass quickly in Green Mode...MY Mini 2014 F56S JCW EXHAUST...JCW TUNE...and NM POWER MODULE set on Hi...6spd...try it you'll be surprised...Peace Ronnie 😎🎶 Taurus ♉
Mine was very funny story when I bought my first 2021 redesigned Nissan Rogue few things i hated the more than ever 1.split headlight design I have to take entire front end off completely to change the bulb 2.undercarriage started to corrosion and rust basically I never cleaned undercarriage at all 3.when they built my car it falls apart after one year i fixing it with zip tie I waited for part for engine back in January 2022 and now May 2023 no answer back from dealership I decided keep it for 5 year from now I planned to sell to salvage yard scraping it for money I always wanted to get mini cooper since I got my license at 17 years old
BMW do not care about the door issue Liverpool and Chester UK dealer told me it's caused by an external source and not a bad design and that the brown rust stains the bare metal keeps developing is not rust that stains the rough door rubber seals BMW know all about this issue yet they have never changed the F56 door design for years but tried a softer rubber and newer cars still develop the issue my car is a 2015 Cooper S it had the door issue at less than 15k miles just shocking they let owners deal with this defect with the likes of Helicopter tape in the area that's rubbed away.
@@shantytownbrown Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have had 3 minis and 2 of them f56 jcws. Both had the door issue and I was told the rubbing was caused by bad motor mounts allowing the extra movement / flex in the body. Any truth to that? I replaced both f56 motor mounts.

Very helpful and clearly explained. Thanks man. I’m getting one of these

Pops and bangs? WTF are you 14 years old??
Looking to upgrade from my MX5 to one of these this summer. Helpful Vid👍
Don’t. I’ve had an MX-5 and it’s a much more enjoyable car.
Upgrade, is it?

If I screw up I'd prefer to keep it in as it makes it a little more interesting 😂
what year is yours? also what about a 2017s? that's what I'm about to go look at.
I've got a 2016 JCW 🙂

Hi...some useful tips. But where can I get those door patches you mentioned? I really need those ;>))
Killallchrome you can get them from there.
@@Cars_and_adventures Thx.....most appreciated....BTW: You got a new subscriber
Plan on used Mini repairs to cost more than house maintenance or health care.
Not if you go for the f56 it's a very reliable car.
not another one

If you buy it new from them they should sort it out. However I know alot won't. Terrible design!
Is this issue only on specific years? Have they addressed this for 2024? Is it just the Cooper JCW? I have a 2024 Clubman 2024 on order…
@@shantytownbrown only was an issue with the hatches. And I believe 2019 they sorted it

What's the convertible like
I did a video on it. Check it on my channel 🙂
What wheels are those please Oz..?
O.z superturismos 18
@@Cars_and_adventures cheers offset..? Do you have spacers also to miss brakes
@@robrocks34 no that issue is only on the cooper s. Due to it not being designed for the larger JCW brakes.
Laugh several times 😂
Easy: just look for an older mini that is a real mini. Full stop.
I have understood nothing! He speaks terrible😮
