STORYLINE:
New video of the street-to-street fighting in Fallujah was released late on Wednesday.
The footage shows US Marines facing a resistance while advancing through the narrow streets of the one of the neighbourhoods of Fallujah. The insurgent fire is neutralised and they continue with their house to house clearing activity.
Throughout the day, Americans hit the militants with artillery and mortars, and warplanes fired on the city's main street and market as well as the insurgent stronghold of Jolan, one of several neighbourhoods where troops were skirmishing with militants.
At least 71 militants had been killed by early Wednesday, the third day of intense urban combat, the military said. As of Tuesday night, 10 US troops and two members of the Iraqi security forces had been killed.
Marine reports on Wednesday said 25 American troops and 16 Iraqi soldiers were wounded. There was no new report Wednesday on US military deaths.
Fallujah, 40 miles (64 kilometres) west of Baghdad, is the centrepiece of the Sunni Muslim insurgency that has stymied US efforts to secure Iraq and prepare for national elections that are scheduled for January.
Most of Fallujah's 200,000 to 300,000 residents are believed to have fled the city before the US assault. Civilian casualties in the attack are not known, though US commanders say they believe the numbers are low.

@@Pulang_Diwa ok.. So explain
I believe this was the first battle of Fallujah 2004. Marines getting into some new terrifying type of combat they weren’t yet properly prepared for. House to house and room to room combat. They still kicked ass. This battle spawned a whole new discipline and training program for urban combat in both the US Marines and Army in the years to come. Just like the island hopping during WW2 pacific theater, marines are always at the forefront and learning curve for new types combat and obstacles. Marines pave the way often with hand-me-down equipment from the army.
Never forget Fallujah.

There’s a version of this that’s even more gruesome, but I haven’t seen it in years, and I’ve never been able to find it again. @2:25 Thats a kill XD.
There's a whole section of the video missing and I've never been able to find the full version. I've only been able to find this cut. This footage was aired on tv either during the battle or as the battle was concluding. I remember it vividly because this was probably some of the craziest combat footage that I'd seen up to that point.
Anyways, before 2:26 when that marine puts one into a fighter in that little alleyway. They're conducting interviews in this little courtyard because they think its the safest place to do so. Then that fighter, he wasn't seen on cam, pops up in the direction of where that little alleyway is. Some marines engage him with their M-16s against the wall. This can all be seen in this cut. What isn't shown and what's vivid in my mind 20 years later is when they fucking fragged the guy. There was a marine who drops a grenade over that little alleyway wall and nails the fighter. You can tell because the fighter screams in agony for like a minute or two. I don't know how to describe it other than kind of eerie. Then 2:26 happens where the marine puts one in him. I'm pretty sure he was already dead at that point.
